Anis Mehmeti began his career at Wycombe Wanderers Promotion-chasing Ipswich Town have signed winger Anis Mehmeti from Championship rivals Bristol City for an undisclosed fee, reported to be an initial £3m. The London-born Albania international has scored nine goals in 31 appearances for the Robins this season. He played in both their 1-1 draw with Ipswich at Ashton Gate in September and the Tractor Boys' 2-0 win in the reverse fixture earlier this week. Mehmeti was City's top scorer last season with 12 goals and was offered a new contract in October with his existing one due to expire this summer. "Everyone knows the ambition is to get promoted back to the Premier League and I am here to help us achieve that, " Mehmeti told the Ipswich website, external after signing a deal to the summer of 2029. He is the first signing of the current transfer window by Ipswich, who are third in the Championship, having won their past four league games under Kieran Mc Kenna - and the fourth player to leave Bristol City this week. "It's a shame that we lose one of our most interesting players, but that's football and we have to deal with that - we have a strong group of players here, " City boss Gerhard Struber told BBC Radio Bristol. "It's not the moment to cry or to moan about something, it's more a moment where we push together in a typical Bristol City way and not waste too much time on what we cannot change.
