Mikel Arteta and Arsenal showed their class by giving Gunners supporter Laura Woods a babygrow for her soon-to-born child. Former talk SPORT and current TNT Sports host Laura Woods was in attendance for the Gunners 3-0 Champions League win over Monaco, and got a pleasant surprise post-match. The Arsenal fan was gifted the babygrow for her child expected to be due in early 2025 and posted images of the gift. If that wasn’t meaningful enough, it was also presented by Arsenal manager Arteta, who’s been interviewed by Woods on numerous occasions. Posting the meeting on Instagram, Woods captioned it ‘my club’ and ‘too cute’. In front of the TV cameras, Woods spoke to Arteta about a performance that moved his side up to third in the league phase of the Champions League with four wins from six games. Bukayo Saka scored twice and Kai Havertz added another in a comfortable win, but the style of the goals was particularly noticeable. The north London side have come under criticism for an over-reliance on corners in recent weeks, but all three efforts on the night were from open play. When questioned about the differing style by Woods, Arteta replied: “It’s very good, especially because they were very different goals and that’s what we want, to be a threat from every phase of play. “We could have scored many more in open play, as you call it, but for me set pieces are open play and part of the game, but anyway I’m very happy. ” Arteta also had a word for Myles Lewis-Skelly, who was making his first Champions League start at 18 years of age. Commenting on the youngster, who had an impressive performance at left back, he said: “What I like about him is his courage, the positions he takes, how he penetrates with the ball. “He’s one of our own and he’s 18 and has a bright future ahead of him. “It’s great. As a manager and as a club we have to be happy to see those players coming through because it’s a nice feeling to be able to help somebody change his life. ” © 2024 talk SPORT Limited
