The Scotland international, who signed for Arsenal from Celtic in 2019 and went on to make over 100 appearances for the north London club, will sport the colours of green and white again next season after reaching an agreement with the Premiership giants. Tierney joined the Gunners during Unai Emery's final summer in charge at the Emirates, signing for a reported fee of £25million. The left-back started Arsenal's FA Cup final triumph over Chelsea in August 2020, which was postponed as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. However, despite being brought in as a first-choice left-back, Tierney went on to suffer a string of injuries and saw his role lessen significantly as he struggled to stay fit. In 2022, Arteta signed Oleksandr Zinchenko from perennial champions Manchester City before again reinforcing his options in that area with the arrivals of Riccardo Calafiori and Jurrien Timber, who can play there as well as right back. The 28-year-old star, who began the campaign with a hamstring injury before making a full recovery last November, bowed out under perfect circumstances on the final day of the season, scoring Arsenal's opener during their 2-1 win over Southampton. Announcing the free transfer on Tuesday, Celtic posted a video titled #Backto Paradise which showed the player travelling on public transport from Arsenal to Glasgow. The post, which was shared via the club's official channel on X, was captioned, 'I wish I was in Glasgow, ' with a music and green love heart emoji. Despite the Scottish club's excitement over Tierney's fairytale return, there will be cause for concern given his withdrawal from the national team on Sunday. Tierney, alongside Napoli midfielder Scott Mc Tominay, were forced to pull out of Scotland's trip to Liechtenstein on Tuesday through injury. Speaking ahead of the match, Scotland boss Steve Clarke said: ‘Scott and Kieran both came into camp carrying some little issues over from the season. I think if we’d had a longer turnaround between the games they might have had a chance, but this is the end of season for those two. ‘The most important thing is to have a good rest over the summer and come back flying in the autumn. ’
