We've had a great start to the season so far and Brentford will lose at home at some point. Stu, Nottingham HT: West Ham 0-0 Brighton Paul Robinson Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live It has been a tough watch. They are playing a similar formation, the attacking options have been limited. It has been a poor first half. West Ham 0-0 Brighton Christmas shopping in the driving rain so much more fun than that first half. Ipswich 0-3 Newcastle Relief for Ipswich fans as the whistle goes for half-time. That was a memorable 45 minutes for Newcastle, but a nightmare for Ipswich. Ipswich 0-3 Newcastle Rachel Brown-Finnis Ex-England goalkeeper on Final Score That is awful. Muric shouldn't have played it out because it was never on and the only option for the defender there is to try and get it out to the full-back. Just don't do stuff like that. Ipswich 0-3 Newcastle Michael Emons BBC Sport at Portman Road Newcastle three up, in total control and this one looks all over. Alexander Isak put them ahead after 26 seconds, although it then took a couple of minutes for VAR to decide that Jacob Murphy, originally flagged offside, was onside. Murphy then added a second in a half that was played in torrential rain for large parts of it. Ipswich then handed Newcastle a Christmas present just before the break. Goalkeeper Arijanet Muric tried to find Jens Cajuste in his own penalty area, he was dispossessed by Isak who had the easy task to slot his second and Newcastle's third. Ipswich have not tested Martin Dubravka in the away goal and are desperately missing top scorer Liam Delap, out because of suspension. This could get really, really ugly for Ipswich. Brentford 0-1 Nottingham Forest An impressive first half by Forest, who hold a narrow lead at the break. Brentford have work to do in the second half. #bbcfootball, via Whats App on 03301 231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply) I cannot believe I've paid actual real life pound sterling to watch this game at the London Stadium. Two teams that are absolutely miserable to watch. Gabe, London West Ham 0-0 Brighton Paul Robinson Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live Good play from Joao Pedro and just as you think Pervis Estupinan is going to pull the trigger, his right foot gives way beneath him. West Ham 0-0 Brighton A moment that sums this up. .. Brighton are on the charge and a pass finds Pervis Estupinan in a decent position inside the box but he slips at the crucial moment. A decent chance goes to waste. Alexander Isak (45+2 mins) Oh big mistake by Ipswich and it is 3-0! It is an absolute gift as the hosts are caught out badly playing out from the back, Arijanet Muric's short pass to a defender is intercepted and Alexander Isak is able to sidefoot in from close range. That might be the easiest goal he has scored in his career. Brentford 0-1 Nottingham Forest Brentford have a 100% record after conceding first at the Gtech Community Stadium this season, winning all three games in the top flight. Can they find an equaliser before half-time? Brentford 0-1 Nottingham Forest Rachel Brown-Finnis Ex-England goalkeeper on Final Score Fantastic finish from Aina but also a fantastic decision for Wood to let it run from Williams' cross. He directs it back across the goalkeeper into the bottom corner and that is a great finish. #bbcfootball, via Whats App on 03301 231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply) Newcastle have now scored 14 goals in their last 4. 5 games. They have finally got their attacking spark back! Anon Ipswich 0-2 Newcastle Dion Dublin Former England striker on Final Score Newcastle have got themselves in the groove now and are comfortable in possession. They are in total control at the moment. Ipswich 0-2 Newcastle Now Alexander Isak tries to bend a shot into the far corner, Arijanet Muric keeps it out but not too convincingly as he has to gather at the second attempt. West Ham 0-0 Brighton Paul Robinson Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live Brighton have defended well to put Lucas Paqueta off, but a player of Paqueta's quality should do so much better. That has probably summed up the game. This is all a bit tame. West Ham 0-0 Brighton Honestly, this isn't a great watch. As dull as the weather. The game is stopped to allow Jan Paul van Hecke to get patched up after being caught on the head. He's fine to carry on but the Brighton player now has a bandage wrapped around his head. Brentford 0-1 Nottingham Forest Forest are ending the first half firmly in the ascendancy. Ben Mee catches Antony Elanga with a late challenge and follows Murillo into Michael Oliver's book. Jhon Duran opened the scoring in Aston Villa's 2-1 win over Manchester City on Saturday Manchester City's crisis intensified as they slipped to another damaging defeat at Aston Villa. Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers goals meant Phil Foden's late reply for the visitors was little consolation. Defending champions City have dropped to sixth in the Premier League, nine points behind leaders Liverpool having played two games more, while Villa have moved above them into fifth. It is now nine defeats in 12 games in all competitions for City, who are winless in their last eight away matches, as their season continues to spiral downwards. Pep Guardiola made six changes from the Manchester derby defeat last week but it made little difference during another laboured performance. Villa, who had won just three of their previous 11 top-flight games, earned a much-needed victory, one which keeps their top-four hopes firmly alive. They were rarely troubled, although Emi Martinez saved well from Foden in the first half, and Villa continually found ways past City's frail backline. The tone was set inside the first minute as City needed Stefan Ortega, in for the injured Ederson, to twice bail them out. He brilliantly turned Pau Torres' header on to the bar, the goalkeeper clawing the ball out from almost over the line, having already saved from Duran following Josko Gvardiol's mistake after just 15 seconds. Worse was to come after 16 minutes when City were sliced open by Youri Tielemans' brilliant through-ball. He found Rogers to advance and unselfishly square for Duran to beat Ortega. City were unable to respond until it was too late and Rogers, who spent two years at Etihad Stadium without making a senior City appearance, sealed victory for Villa with a fine low finish after 65 minutes, making Foden's injury-time strike meaningless. This video can not be played Man City need to think positively and find a way - Guardiola Where do Manchester City go from here and who do they turn to on the pitch? Bereft of confidence, City's players continued their alarming slump and there was never any sign it was going to end. Just 15 seconds in Gvardiol's mistake let in Duran, who should have scored, and City rarely improved from there. Over the past 12 games there have been few signs Guardiola's side are going to return to their all-conquering past selves and their hopes of a fifth straight title look in tatters. Never mind defending their Premier League crown, City's focus must be on finding a way out of a nosedive which is now threatening their top-four spot. Sixth and nine points behind leaders Liverpool, the fallen champions are in desperate need of an injection of confidence. That could come in the transfer window next month and it is inconceivable they will not strengthen. Jack Grealish failed to make an impression at his former club, having joined City for £100m in 2021, Erling Haaland barely got a kick and only Rico Lewis and Stefan Ortega came out of the display in credit. There appeared to be a lack of leadership on the pitch, perhaps down to confidence, and Guardiola is in unchartered territory during their struggles. This video can not be played Emery praises 'fantastic' Villa performance following City win Rogers never made a senior appearance for Manchester City in the two years he spent at the Etihad. He left for Middlesbrough in the summer of 2023 and 18 months later was given a standing ovation by the home fans at Villa Park when the winger was replaced late on against his former club. The 22-year-old outshone the returning Grealish at Villa Park, setting up Duran before a strong run ended with him swapping passes with John Mc Ginn to seal victory. It is a testament to Unai Emery's eye for a player and his ability to develop one that Rogers has made such an impact after joining from Boro in February, when there were question marks about his potential even at Riverside Stadium. Rogers inspired a result which Villa desperately needed. While they have never dropped out of top-four contention their lack of consistency this season has made it much harder to see them as challengers. Only goal difference separates them from Nottingham Forest in fourth and their position will undoubtedly strengthen Villa's hand in next month's transfer market.
