Michael Olise has shown struggling Crystal Palace what they are missing having starred since joining Bayern Munich. The French winger completed a £60million move to Bavaria and has slotted in seamlessly with six goals and three assists in ten games in all competitions. An ever-present figure under Vincent Kompany, Olise's performances have even surpassed that of Harry Kane as he was awarded Bayern's player of the month award for September. Voted for by fans, Olise scooped 39 per cent of the votes after being directly involved in seven goals [five strikes, two assists]. He also marked his Champions League debut with a double in the 9-2 win over Dinamo Zagreb. In doing so, he became the first Frenchman since Thierry Henry in 1997 to score twice in their first match in the European Cup. Meanwhile back at Selhurst Park, things couldn't be going much worse. Crystal Palace fell to a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday night as they continue their search for their first Premier League win of the season. It means that it's their worst start to a top-flight season since 1992/93. The result also means history was created as this is the first time in English football that four top-flight teams have failed to get a win from their opening eight league matches. Joining Palace in their misery are Wolves and Southampton, who only have a point each to show for their efforts so far. Meanwhile, 17th-placed Ipswich are also winless from their first eight games, drawing four and losing four. For Palace, it's now been 155 days since they last won a Premier League game - a 5-0 hammering of Aston Villa on the final day of last season. This term, the Eagles have scored just five times - the fewest of any side in the Premier League. As well as losing the creativity of Olise, Oliver Glasner's side also lost one of their top defenders, Joachim Andersen, to Fulham. 2023/24 Shots on target – 5. 0 Big chances per game – 2. 8 Touches in op. box per game – 24. 2 Shots faced per game – 10. 4 Errors leading to shots – 1 Duel success rate – 52. 2 2024/25 Shots on target – 4. 5 Big chances per game – 1. 6 Touch in op. box per game – 23. 1 Shots faced per game – 13. 5 Errors leading to shots – 5 Duel success rate – 48. 2 Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football, former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey said that it was clear who Palace were missing most. He said: "Olise is a massive miss. "What he's doing now for Bayern Munich and the quality of player that he is. He's maybe one of the best that's ever come out of Palace. "The impact he had on that team last year was remarkable, so that's not so easy to replace. " With Palace now in the bottom three and with a tricky home clash against Tottenham coming up, the pressure is building for Glasner to prove that there is life after Olise.
