UEFA Champions League All competitions This is the first ever competitive meeting between Bayern Munich and Union Saint-Gilloise. Bayern have won eight of their nine home games against Belgian sides in all competitions (L1), including a 4-0 win against Club Brugge already this season. Union Saint-Gilloise are unbeaten in all four of their away games against German sides in major European competition (W2 D2), most recently a 2-1 win at Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2023-24 UEFA Conference League. Union Saint-Gilloise will be the 72nd different side Bayern Munich have faced in the UEFA Champions League, just one short of Real Madrid’s record of facing 73 opponents. They’ve won on 10 of the last 11 occasions they’ve faced a side for the first time, with the exception being a 1-0 loss at Aston Villa last season. Bayern Munich are unbeaten in their last 37 home games in the UEFA Champions League group stage/league phase (W35 D2) since a 3-2 loss against Manchester City in December 2013. Both of Union Saint-Gilloise’s UEFA Champions League wins so far have come away from home (vs PSV and Galatasaray), though all four of their defeats have come against sides from the big five European leagues (Newcastle, Inter, Atlético de Madrid and Marseille). Bayern Munich have had more shots on target (49), scored more big chances (12) and have a higher expected goals total (15. 1) than any side in the UEFA Champions League this season. Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane has neither scored nor assisted a goal in any of his last three UEFA Champions League appearances, his joint longest run in the competition along with a three game spell with Spurs in 2022. 17-year-old Lennart Karl has scored in each of his last three UEFA Champions League appearances for Bayern Munich, already the youngest player to do so in the competition’s history. Only three teenagers have ever scored in four in a row before - Kylian Mbappé (2017), Erling Haaland (2019) and Jude Bellingham (2022). Only Kylian Mbappé (20) has created more chances than Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise (17) in the UEFA Champions League this season, while only Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (4) has more assists than the Frenchman (3). Across the opening six matchdays of this season’s UEFA Champions League, Union Saint-Gilloise’s Ousseynou Niang was dribbled past more often than any other player (16). Of the 34 true tackles he’s attempted, his dribbled past ratio (47% - 16/34) was also the highest of any defender in this period (min. 20 attempted). Copyright © 2026 BBC.
