UEFA Champions League All competitions Bologna beat Lyon 3-0 in their first European meeting with a French side in the UEFA Cup in March 1999 but are since winless in four games against French teams (D2 L2) and lost 1-0 to Monaco on MD4 this season. Lille have won one of their five UEFA Champions League matches against Italian sides (D2 L2), a 2-0 away win at Milan in December 2006 under Claude Puel. In their maiden campaign, Bologna are the only team without a goal in this season’s UEFA Champions League, failing to score with any of their 48 shots, which is twice as many as opponents Lille have had (24). The only side to fail to score in their first five games in Champions League history is Galatasaray during the 1993-94 season. Outside of the knockout stages, Lille have lost just one of their last eight matches in the UEFA Champions League (W5 D2), losing 2-0 against Sporting CP on MD1 this season. Bologna have lost their last three UEFA Champions League matches. The only Italian side to lose four in a row are Milan between 2014 and 2021 (five), with no Italian team ever losing more than three in a row within a single campaign. Lille have won three of their last five away UEFA Champions League matches (L2), as many as they’d won in their first 20 away games in the competition (W3 D4 L13). Across the first four matchdays, Lille were the team who made the most changes to their starting XI in the UEFA Champions League this season (16). Alexsandro Ribeiro and Benjamin André are the only two outfielders to have started all four matches for Lille in the tournament this term. Bologna’s Stefan Posch has made more tackles than any other player in the UEFA Champions League this season (19) – he made eight tackles on MD4 against Monaco, the joint most by a player in a match this season. Lille’s Jonathan David has scored 10 goals in major European competition for Lille, with seven of those coming in 12 UEFA Champions League appearances. He’s one of two Lille players with 10+ goals in Europe, along with former teammate Yusuf Yazici (12).
