Borussia Dortmund won their first four European matches (inc. qualifiers) against Austrian sides between 2003 and 2015 but failed to beat RB Salzburg in two games in the 2017-18 UEFA Europa League (D1 L1). Sturm Graz have never beaten a German team in European competition in six previous meetings (D1 L5). Sturm Graz have been shown the most cards of any side in the UEFA Champions League this season (12 – 11 yellows and one red). Indeed, they’re one of only two sides to have multiple players on 2+ yellow cards this term (2 - Jusuf Gazibegovic and Malick Yalcouyé), along with Liverpool. Jamie Gittens has scored three goals in three appearances for Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League this season, while only two English players aged under-21 have ever netted more in a single season in the competition: Alan Smith for Leeds United in 2000-01 (5) and Jude Bellingham on two occasions (4 in 2022-23 and 2023-24).
