After the tie had finished 2-2 after extra time, Zak Brown drilled home the winning spot-kick to send the National League side into the second round for the fifth time. Alassana Jatta had headed League Two Notts County into an early lead only for Matt Lowe to nod in from close range to draw Brackley level. Jodi Jones restored Notts' lead from the penalty spot after Conor Grant was adjudged to have been fouled. But Callum Stewart sent the tie into extra time deep into stoppage time when he also scored from the spot after Ollie Norburn handled inside the box. Jatta hit the bar with Notts' first effort in the shootout, while Brackley keeper Jon Maxted saved from Keanan Bennetts to help the non-league side into Monday's draw. Notts had progressed from their previous four FA Cup ties against non-league opponents and looked in control of the tie when Jatta headed in Jones' cross. The Gambian striker then saw another effort superbly blocked by Riccardo Calder, and that proved to be a turning point as Lowe converted Tyler Lyttle's cross at the other end moments later. Brackley were then unfortunate to have a goal ruled out for offside when County defender Jacob Bedeau slid the ball into his own net, with replays suggesting it was the wrong decision. Notts were back in front early in the second half when Jones calmly scored from the spot after Maxted was ruled to have brought down Grant. And they were only minutes away from victory when Norburn handled, allowing substitute Stewart to send the tie to extra time and pave the way for Brackley to progress to round two for the second successive season. Brackley boss Gavin Cowan told BBC Two: "It's an unbelievable result. I feel totally blessed. The players were incredible, the fans have been amazing. "The players totally deserve it, they showed hard work, desire, doing a job and a half. They took it to the next level. "The players deserve all the credit - I want them to go and enjoy it now. "I thought we came out a bit slow in the second half but we were happy to let them have the ball in areas. "We wanted to make it a condensed pitch, be really patient and when it turned over the players were so brave, so courageous and played forward. It worked for us. "We really went for it tonight. The celebrations will be reserved because we've got a game on Wednesday, but I'm just so pleased for the fans and everyone attached to the club.
