Head over to our West Ham v Arsenal page to follow live updates of that one. See you over there! FT: Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle Newcastle United Newcastle manager Eddie Howe,
speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “It was a strange game. We didn’t have any
goalmouth action, but I felt we were good in the game. I felt we nullified them
pretty well. In the main, I think we controlled it pretty well. “It’s really gutting to concede
the goal at the end. I felt like we’d weathered the storm and would see the
game out. We defended crosses well, but one moment cost us today. In [our last]
two games, we’ve let a lot of points slip. ” On Dan Burn: “Dan’s been nursing
an ankle problem for the last few weeks. It’s a gigantic performance from him,
all things considered. I don’t think he deserved that [Palace] goal today. ” Crystal Palace 1-1 Newcastle Crystal Palace Crystal Palace manager Oliver
Glasner, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: “[The equaliser] was so deserved. We’re
a little bit disappointed because we would have deserved the win today. Keeping
Newcastle on one shot – it was an unbelievable performance. “We have to blame ourselves that
we didn’t take those chances. With Newcastle’s pace in attack, you always have
to take care that you don’t get [hit on] transition situations. Everyone
deserved the equaliser. “We feel we deserve a bit more
[this season]. It’s not that we miss [chances] because we’re arrogant. It’s
about how you deal with it. What gives me a lot of confidence is the character
of the players here at Crystal Palace. “It’s frustrating, but on the
other side we know we’ll come through it together. The way we’re playing is
improving game-by-game, and then the results will come. ” On Daniel Munoz: “I told him he
should take the ball home because he could have had a hat-trick. The most
difficult one he scored, but it shows his character. ” FT: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth Wolves Wolves defender Nelson Semedo, who has now picked up five yellow cards and will be suspended for his side's match with Everton on Wednesday, to Premier League Productions: "We weren't hungry enough. We lost all our duals and we weren't good enough. "They pressed really well but we knew that. We were prepared for that but it didn't go the way we wanted. "The way I got the yellow card, I was really mad with the referee. I saw him going like this [points] and I thought it was a goal kick so I was just clapping for his decision. Suddenly he gave me a yellow card and he didn't even let me try to explain to him. "I knew I already had a yellow card, that wouldn't change. But I wanted to say to him 'no I'm not clapping because you say it's a penalty, or whatever. No, just because I thought it was a goal kick, that's why'. "I'm not that sort of player and I know I'm on four yellow cards so I wouldn't do that if I was on four yellow cards. " FT: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth Wolves Wolves manager Gary O'Neil to Premier League Productions: "Not good enough. It was well below the level we've managed to reach in the last four. We made it really difficult with the errors and the game became a chase. "The start of the game, the first goal we concede, it's a big set-back. We gave away two back passes and we didn't need to play backwards in those moments. "We expect better than that. We should be able to make simple passes and good decisions with the ball. Today it snowballed on us. We kept on giving chances and making bad decisions. "We did keep fighting and did come back. But we again found a way to shoot ourselves in the foot with the fourth goal. "The lads were very well-prepared for what Bournemouth were going to ask. We knew they would be direct and press. But today we didn't have the answers. "A lot to look at, but a very quick turnaround. The Premier League you can lose momentum at any point because there are a lot of tough games. "The players are still together and ready to go. " FT: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth Wolves Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen to BBC Sport: "Not what we expected before the game. We are in good form and I thought we are better than what we showed today, but that's football. There will be setbacks when you don't expect them. "The game is ruined after 18 minutes, and that's a shame. We believed though and we came back, we had the momentum but in a few minutes it's dead again. But we have a new match on Wednesday. "We have to learn a lot. But I'd rather have one game with three or four mistakes, than spreading them out and losing many games. "The last five or six games have been really, really good. We create chances and score some good goals. We're a really good team and I believe this will turn around. " FT: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth Bournemouth Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to Premier League Productions: "This season he [Evanilson] has won five penalties and we have scored four. That says a lot about him. He was the difference maker today. "It is very difficult to score three penalties in one game. Justin is someone who gives us a lot, also without the ball. He is someone who understands we need his work-rate. He is giving the team a lot. FT: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth Wolves Wolves manager Gary O'Neil to BBC Match of the Day: "Incredibly disappointing, and self-inflicted. Some crazy, crazy errors there. Especially early in the game. It's disappointing, the lads are equally disappointed. "We need to turn our attentions quickly to Wednesday with a big test against Everton. "Bournemouth ask you certain questions and unfortunately we didn't find enough answers. Their first was from a channel ball which we worked on for ages, ages, and we didn't deal with it. "Crazy, crazy penalties to give away. We have to write those off, because you can't win games if you concede goals like that. "Any error as big as those at this level is going to be tough to bounce back from. We've given ourselves a mountain to climb which we haven't done in the last four games. "We were well-prepped and new exactly what would happen. Two back passes, crazy back passes, no need to play back at that point, we could have played forward. "The [penalty] decisions looked pretty conclusive live. " FT: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich Nottingham Forest Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Match of the Day: "The main goal was to bounce back from the two previous games. I still believe it has to be like that to go in the game and fight but organise. "There's a balance but the basics for us is not the clean sheet, it is the attitude.
Tough team, we knew that. We started well and they countered the attack. Very tough team. Kieran is doing a great job and they put us against the ropes at the end. "Wood always takes penalties after training. He is our penalty taker and we totally trust him. "We will assess them now. We had players coming back from injury but we will assess them and then think about the next one. " If you're clicking on this live and wondering why we're ignoring the fact that Arsenal are currently playing West Ham in the late kick-off, don't worry. We've got live text and radio commentary of that one in a separate page over here. Gabriel has just put the visitors ahead. .. FT: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich Nottingham Forest Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo to Sky Sports: "We are delighted to keep seeing him [Chris Wood] breaking records here and in New Zealand because he is a great person. "I think the moment we went to a back three was to close the gaps but still required a bit of pressing the ball but we didn't do that so Ipswich controlled the game. There was a bit of tension. "All the games in the Premier League are so tough so that is why we go game by game. Now we will think about the next one. " FT: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich Ipswich Town Ipswich boss Kieran Mc Kenna to the BBC Match of the Day: "I think it was a pretty even game. It wasn't the most high-quality game of the season. First half was really even. it really felt like a first-goal game. We would have been in a great position but it was them that got it. We're disappointed, it's a poor penalty to give away from our perspective. "We had plenty of moments in the first half. We had chances, we had a lot of pressure. The first goal felt important and on another day, we would have got it. Fine margins. "I can understand why it was given. He lunged in from behind and you're giving the referee a decision to make. I've not seen it close up but I can see why it was given in real time.
I don't think we can say we hit our best level to win the game but I think we deserved something. We've got steps to make if we are to consistently win. " FT: Brentford 4-1 Leicester Leicester City Leicester caretaker boss Ben Dawson speaking to Match of the Day: "As expected. We knew coming here Brentford's home record and the crowd get behind them. We got ourselves in front with the goal and decision making in key moments have contributed to the scoreline. "Not so much the first one but the second one we're down to 10 men and then the third just before half time. They hit hard. We showed some good play for some parts of the game. "The thinking was trying to get three points. We've reassessed everyone and thought that was the best way to go to get three points. "Only last night, we exchanged a few texts and we'll catch up tomorrow. Bit of a challenging afternoon. It can be a lonely place stood on that touchline but everyone was excited when the announcement was made yesterday so hopefully that positivity continues. " FT: Brentford 4-1 Leicester Brentford Brentford manager Thomas Frank speaking to Sky Sports: On Kevin Schade: "Three goals and an assist. It's a dream number for any offensive player. I'm so, so happy for him because he's another young man that wants to do the best he can to perform. He's had the injury last season, started the season well, and now everything he hit today went in. Very good finishes. Fantastic assist and glad I picked him. "I think I have some good challenges because I have a lot of good offensive players that want to play. We went very offensive today. We played with four wingers and strikers plus the number 10 in Mikkel Damsgaard but because all of them play high up they worked very hard. " On secret to home form: "I can't tell you the secret because then it's not a secret anymore! We hit a good form at home. The fans have been really good. We create in every game and the players perform very well. "Tempo and intensity are two key words. We try to find right patterns in the final third and it paid off today. " On where Brentford can finish this season: "As high as possible. We are very happy with the season so far. Always thinking of what to improve. Even this game there's things we could do better. But football is tough, we celebrate today and we go again in training tomorrow. " FT: Brentford 4-1 Leicester Leicester City Leicester defender Conor Coady speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "Super difficult. Difficult week. Us as players have to look at ourselves. Today wasn't good enough. Giving away too many chances. We know how good Brentford can be and we had a plan. But we have to look at ourselves because we're not good enough at the moment. "That's where we're at. We put ourselves in a good position but we're giving away too many chances against a top quality side. There's a lot we need to put right and look at. We're excited about the manager coming in and we're excited for that. It's hard to be excited at this moment after a performance like that. "We just want to play. The fact we have another game on Tuesday but we need to look at this. We can't just brush it aside. We'll speak as a team and make sure we put it right. "A lot of have been here before. A lot of experience in the dressing room and we've got to pull ourselves through. " FT: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich Ipswich Town Ipswich defender Cameron Burgess to the world feed: "Szmods didn't think he'd got him. I haven't seen it. He went down in a heap and made a loud noise and a squeal, they sometimes get given because of that. "We showed our fitness levels to go right to the end of the game. it's all about improving and working hard. I think we can keep going the way we're going and keep improving. " FT: Nottingham Forest 1-0 Ipswich John Bennett Final Score reporter at the City Ground When Chris Wood stepped up for the crucial winning penalty you’d have struggled to find any Forest fans sitting around me who weren’t 100% confident he would score. The New Zealander had a relatively quiet afternoon, with very few chances as he worked hard to get his team-mates into the game but he’s in the form of his life under Nuno Espírito Santo. Wood’s now level with the all-time record for most Premier League goals scored by a Forest player. But the stat which really stands out for me is that it’s 20 goals in 29 games for Wood since Nuno took over in December last year. If he stays fit and firing Forest’s European dream will go on. FT: Wolves 2-4 Bournemouth Bournemouth Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola to BBC Match of the Day: "Very pleased with the performance and the win. We have played well without getting points, the last two. We needed the win and the performance. In the first half we were very dangerous and the press was working well. We deserved this. "We are trying to put pressure on them, don't let them feel comfortable. Evanilson today has made the difference. He has been fighting with the centre-backs and the keeper. He was phenomenal. "Justin [Kluivert] has played against my teams in Spain many times and has also scored penalties. Justin is normally quite confident in those situations. The first two were clear. For the third one I thought maybe he is not the one to take it. But also in the moment I didn't want to be the one to tell him. "Every time you take another penalty it becomes more difficult because you are giving the keeper more information. But I would also like to acknowledge Evanilson. He didn't score today, but he is why we won. Anon FT: Brentford 4-1 Leicester Brentford Brentford forward Kevin Schade speaking to Sky Sports: "Very pleased. Difficult time for me recently. I'm even more happy now I've scored the hat-trick. "I was most pleased with the last goal. My first hat-trick in my whole career. So happy. I've been sad recently and everyone tries to push me. The team, the fans. Working really hard, extra sessions in the gym. "To be fair, we would expect this game to be tough. They are aggressive like us. Great to score four goals. " Kevin Schade's hat-trick helped Brentford cruise to victory over Leicester New Leicester manager Ruud van Nistelrooy watched Kevin Schade net a hat-trick as Brentford thumped the Foxes to underline the size of the task he faces. The former Manchester United striker, who has yet to over coaching matters, with Ben Dawson overseeing Leicester for this game, sat next to owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha in the stands at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday. And the Dutchman saw his new side overrun to offer little suggestion they have the quality to pull away from danger. Schade's treble added to Yoane Wissa's equaliser in the first half after Facundo Buonanotte's 21st-minute goal put the Foxes ahead against the run of play. The dominant Bees were 3-1 ahead by half-time with Wissa and Schade firing them in front within eight minutes of going behind. Schade, who was also denied an early opener by a fine Mads Hermansen save, added a third in first-half stoppage time, the Germany international's first top-flight goals of the season. Thomas Frank's impressively fluid side are now eighth in the Premier League, two points adrift of the top four, after a fourth home win in a row for the first time in the top flight since 1937. It is in stark contrast to the Foxes and Van Nistelrooy will have been unimpressed when the passive visitors were split by Nathan Collins' pass for Schade to complete his hat-trick after 59 minutes. Leicester host West Ham on Tuesday sitting a point above the relegation zone when Van Nistelrooy will be in the dugout. The Foxes players needed a performance after the criticism of their Christmas party in Copenhagen last weekend, 24 hours before Steve Cooper was sacked on Sunday. They failed and ex-PSV manager Van Nistelrooy will have seen enough on Saturday to show him what the Foxes are missing. After a limp fifth defeat in eight games, he needs to make an instant impact. Brentford boss Frank has the Bees flying. Last season's struggles, when they finished 16th, have long been forgotten, as have any concerns following the summer sale of Ivan Toney. Sitting two points from the top four, they are the highest scorers at home in the Premier League this season, Saturday's four goals taking their total to 22. Victory also takes them to 19 points at home this season, which is another league high. And the Bees have scored at least three times in four consecutive home league fixtures for the first time since 1984. Frank's side are setting new records and he even had the luxury of bringing Schade into the side on Saturday and being rewarded by the Germany international scoring his first Premier League goals of the season. The frustration will be the sole clean sheet this term, in last week's 0-0 draw at Everton, and the lack of an away win - but their home form is curing any ills so far. Brentford have lost at Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United - along with Fulham - which shows there is still a gap between them and the top sides, but the Bees look like they could bridge that quickly in the second half of the season. Van Nistelrooy needs to work quickly to repair the fractures at Leicester before they start to cause real damage. If the defeat at the Gtech Community Stadium was not bad enough, the murmurings from the away supporters would have crystallised a growing problem the Foxes face. At least twice during the game the supporters, briefly, chanted for director of football Jon Rudkin to leave and those sentiments will not disappear, especially with passive performances in west London. And the away fans sang "this is embarrassing" and "you're not fit to wear the shirt" towards the end after Schade’s hat-trick put the game beyond reach. The hierarchy have come under consistent criticism over the years, including following the appointment of Claudio Ranieri in 2015 just before the Italian stunned the world by leading the Foxes to the Premier League title in 2016. It has been allowed to fester this season. The appointment of Steve Cooper never resonated with the fans, and the King Power Stadium no longer has the electric atmosphere of old. The players’ Christmas party in Copenhagen last weekend, although pre-approved by the club, is likely to drive a further wedge between them and the fanbase. The younger supporters have grown up knowing the success of the Premier League triumph, a Champions League quarter-final and the 2021 FA Cup win. Leicester have changed, it is obvious they are no longer that side or club despite having loftier ambitions than a relegation battle, and it would be wise for those in charge to help the fans understand the direction of the club. Leicester have won just one of their last 13 Premier League away games against London sides (D3 L9), shipping 2+ goals on each of their last five top-flight visits to the capital (D1 L4). Brentford have won more home points (16) and scored more home goals (18) than any other side in the Premier League this season. They’ve won five of their six at the Gtech Community Stadium, and are looking to win four in a row at home for the first time ever in the Premier League. Brentford’s last three home games have seen them win 5-3 against Wolves, 4-3 against Ipswich and 3-2 against Bournemouth. The Bees last scored 3+ goals in four consecutive home league games in April/May 1984, while the last team to win four straight top-flight home games while conceding 2+ goals each time were Leicester in October 1964. Yoane Wissa has been involved in nine goals in his last five Premier League home games for Brentford (7 goals, 2 assists), scoring in each of these five games. Teammate Bryan Mbeumo meanwhile has either scored or assisted in his last six at the Gtech Community Stadium (7 goals, 1 assist). All three of Jordan Ayew’s Premier League goals for Leicester this season have been scored in the 90th minute, and as a substitute.
