Lang has scored 10 goals in 30 appearances for Portsmouth this season Portsmouth forward Callum Lang is set to miss the rest of the season with a torn hamstring. The 26-year-old sustained the injury in Saturday's 2-0 win at Oxford United. Lang has scored 10 goals for the south coast club this season, including a four-goal haul against Coventry City in December. "Callum's not great, [he has] a torn hamstring, " head coach John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent. "He's had his scan, he's going to have a second scan in 10 days to see if it's settled down [but] mostly likely we're looking at Callum returning next season unfortunately. "[It's] one of those that's really, really unfortunate. Callum's been incredible this season in terms of his physical output, and certainly in terms of his goals and everything that he's done, but it's not looking great, it's a bit of a gutting one for Callum. " This video can not be played John Mousinho discusses Callum Lang's serious injury Lang has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season and scored 14 goals in 42 games since moving to Fratton Park from Wigan Athletic in January last year. Portsmouth have won their past two matches to lift themselves seven points clear of the Championship relegation zone. Lang's last goal was in his side's 3-1 win against Stoke City last month. "He's played a huge part in where we are today and he's still got a huge part to play, " added Mousinho. "He's a very important member of the dressing room, he's one of the leaders and we need to make sure he stays around, stays positive and gets back for next season fit. " Analysis by Andrew Moon, BBC Radio Solent reporter Callum Lang was one of the few bright spots in a disappointing first half of the season. Pompey are better equipped to cope with his absence now than they would have been before the January window but this is still a massive blow. He's the top scorer with twice as many league goals as anyone else and his relentless energy has been crucial in Pompey's successful pressing of teams. Adil Aouchiche is now likely to get an opportunity to start at 10. In five days Pompey picked up two priceless wins but also lost Conor Shaughnessy and Callum Lang to hamstring injuries. They are in a good position to avoid relegation but really can't afford to lose any more key players.
