We're edging towards half-time and you wonder whether both sides are thinking about seeing it out until the break. Plymouth Argyle 1-1 Watford Brent Pilnick BBC Sport at Home Park Everyone here needs a rest right now. It's been end-to-end for the last 10 minutes or so - both sides could be ahead with the chances they have had. This 10-minute spell before the break could be key, you think if either side can get a goal before half tine it might be the key to the game. Plymouth 1-1 Watford Watford have not won at Plymouth since September 2009. The scorer in that 1-0 victory for the Hornets was Tom Cleverley. Sitting in the stands while he serves a touchline ban the Watford boss will be pleased to see his side just settling things down again. Plymouth 1-1 Watford Don't take your eyes off this as Watford could and maybe should be back in front. A corner drops at the feet of defender Ryan Porteous but rather than use his left foot he uses his right and hits it wide from four yards - Porteous raises his eyes to the sky as he knows what a good chance that is. #bbcefl, Whats App on 03301231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply) Andre Gray turns into Robin van Persie. I wonder if Rooney had a hand in that goal. Jason, via Whats App Plymouth 1-1 Watford It's been quite the six minutes for Plymouth, Andre Gray equalises, Morgan Whittaker strikes wide and now Michael Obafemi drags an effort off target. Watford need to give their collective heads a wobble. Plymouth 1-1 Watford Derek Payne Former Watford midfielder on BBC Three Counties Radio It's a great finish but from a Watford perspective the ball has travelled from 40 yards and someone should read that. You can see that he's going to hit a long pass and James Morris' body shape was all wrong and for me he's at fault there. Plymouth 1-1 Watford Andre Gray cost Watford £11. 5m back in 2017 and scored 19 league goals in a Hornets shirt. I doubt he scored one better than that which got his new club level tonight. Suddenly it's a very even game having been so one sided before Gray's piece of magic. Plymouth Argyle 1-1 Watford Brent Pilnick BBC Sport at Home Park Where did that come from? Watford have been absolutely cruising in this game - Louza, Sissoko and Chakvetadze had the midfield sewn up - and then that bit of magic from Andre Gray against his former club. Home Park is absolutely rocking right now - heaven knows how loud it would have got had Morgan Whittaker's effort been an inch or two further to the right just after the restart. Plymouth 1-1 Watford That's woken everyone up at Home Park. Now Morgan Whittaker has a crack from distance and it's not too far wide of the post. Wayne Rooney applauds that effort and all around Home Park Devonians have found their voices. Plymouth 1-1 Watford Ryan Dickson Former Plymouth and Southampton defender on BBC Radio Devon What a finish that is. On the volley and that's why Andre Gray is in the team. That's a proper full-back's ball from Lewis Gibson. I don't think you'll see a better goal tonight, it's just high quality. Andre Gray (23 mins) That came from nowhere. .. Lewis Gibson clips a ball over the top and Andre Gray lets it drop over his shoulder before volleying beyond Daniel Bachmann. It's against the run of play. Plymouth 0-1 Watford Another corner for Watford - they're pushing for a second goal - Daniel Grimshaw is unconvincing as he punches the ball away but referee Andy Davies whistles for a foul. .. somewhere. .. I can't see one #bbcefl, Whats App on 03301231826 or text 81111 (UK only, standard message rates apply) It's gotta be Steve Bruce so far I'd say. Multiple promotions and an FA Cup final! Ian, Spokane, USA With two former Red Devils stars in charge tonight, we're asking who's the best manager to have played under Sir Alex Ferguson. .. Plymouth 0-1 Watford Ryan Dickson Former Plymouth and Southampton defender on BBC Radio Devon Watford are in no hurry, they are a well organised side. They know that Argyle need to up the tempo. It's rare when a side tries to take the game away from the opposition so early on. It's really interesting to see how long Watford are taking with the restarts, it's slow and composed - the complete opposite to how Plymouth play. Argyle have got to be a little bit weary of the high line. I just don't know where their threat is going to come from. In general play there's no identity to their front line. Plymouth 0-1 Watford All the threat is coming down the Plymouth right with Yasser Larouci and Giorgi Chakvetadze having a field day - there are rumblings from the home crowd - they're not used to seeing their side dominated like this at home Plymouth 0-1 Watford Oh big chance for Watford - Yasser Larouci gets away again down the left, he gets a cross in but Kwadwo Baah fails to made decent contact and it's scrambled away. Plymouth 0-1 Watford Now Julio Pleguezuelo has to snuff out another Watford attack but there is more defending for Plymouth to do as they clear away a long throw - the home side are not getting to grips with the visitors who have started very well. Plymouth 0-1 Watford Matthew Sorinola gets in a decent cross for Plymouth which Mattie Pollock heads behind for a corner but again Pollock is first to the ball and clears away for the visitors. Plymouth Argyle 0-1 Watford Brent Pilnick BBC Sport at Home Park A stunned silence from all four corners of the ground greeted that goal - the Watford fans thought Bayo was offside while the home fans could not believe it. Argyle have, not for the first time, made a poor start to a game here at Home Park. But unlike last time when Portsmouth failed to take advantage of their chances, Watford have made no mistake. It could be a long night for the Home Park faithful. .. . Andre Gray has scored three goals in five games for Plymouth Argyle Andre Gray scored twice against his former club to salvage a point for struggling Plymouth Argyle as they drew 2-2 with Watford. Gray curled in an equaliser in the sixth minute of second-half stoppage time to seal a crucial point for Wayne Rooney's side. Vakoun Bayo gave the Hornets a deserved early lead as he bundled home from close range, but Gray levelled against the run of play soon after with a well-taken volley. Ryan Porteous ensured Watford led at the break, converting Mattie Pollock's cross from close range. But just as it looked like Watford would go home with all three points, Gray - who joined Argyle on a free transfer last month - sent Home Park into raptures with his third goal in five games. The point lifted Argyle up to 17th in the Championship, while Watford - managed by Rooney's former Manchester United team-mate Tom Cleverley - moved up to fifth. Watford made a fast start with Giorgi Chakvetadze causing early problems as the hosts looked lacklustre, and the Hornets took advantage when Yasser Larouci's low cross from the left was scrambled home by Bayo after his marker Lewis Gibson had lost him. It could have got worse for Argyle eight minutes later but Larouci's pull-back caught the heel of Kwadwo Baah and went to safety. But just as Watford looked to be getting total control, Gray's superb right-footed volley into the opposite bottom corner from Gibson's crossfield pass turned the game on its head. Morgan Whittaker was inches away from putting the hosts ahead moments later, while Michael Obafemi also went close as the goal kick-started Argyle's confidence. That confidence should have been shattered after 31 minutes when Porteous managed to shoot wide of the Argyle post after a goalmouth scramble from a corner - but the Scotland defender made up for it 10 minutes later. Imran Louza's floated free-kick was played across the face of goal by Pollock and Porteous was there with a right-footed finish from six yards. Argyle started the second half positively but Watford controlled the possession and tempo well as they protected their lead, limiting the hosts to half-chances. The Pilgrims' evening got worse when star forward Whittaker limped off with a foot injury with 10 minutes left, and Watford could have wrapped the game up eight minutes later as Larouci broke from midfield and fed Bayo, but Dan Grimshaw did well to block the Ivorian's effort. Whittaker's replacement, Callum Wright, shot wide after some good footwork in the penalty area soon after. Watford looked to have seen the game out until substitute Mustapha Bundu found Gray in a bit of space on the corner of the 18-yard box and the Jamaica international - who left the Hornets in 2022 after five years - superbly curled into the top right corner with seconds to spare. Ryan Porteous scored for the second time in his past three Watford appearances Plymouth Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney told BBC Sport: "I'm delighted in the end to get a point, I think Watford are a very good team, a very powerful team. "The first 10 minutes I thought we couldn't get to grips with the game. "After they scored we did well to get back into the game - it was a fantastic goal from Andre and I thought we were OK after that, we settled into our shape a little bit and then we conceded a terrible goal from our point of view. "But then I thought there was a real shift in mentality second half, we spread our centre-backs out a little bit more and made it more difficult for them to put pressure on us. "I thought the lads who came on made a difference again, which is really important for us, and in the end we deserved a point. " Watford head coach Tom Cleverley told BBC Sport: "If you reduce Plymouth to what we did this evening, you win this nine times out of 10. "I felt that we had so many opportunities in transition, we just weren't clinical enough. "I can't be too angry with the players, it was everything we asked for, we asked for a real underdog mentality when we haven't got the ball. "In possession we showed real class and calmness, we just didn't get the third goal that you always feel you need when you come here - they score a lot of late goals and that's what's undone us today.
