Clearly Salah is still capable of scoring goals, creating goals, and leading his team on the biggest occasions - and there is no downward trend to suggest that will stop soon. Liverpool would be silly to not offer him a multi-year deal Dan, Stafford Michael Brown Former Manchester City and Tottenham midfielder on Monday Night Club His [Mohamed Salah's] last contract was exceptional. The deal should be simple. "Would you like to continue on those terms for another 2/3 years" and the deal would be done already. The financials must be greater that the agent is talking. They have to be miles out because the offer isn't even coming on the table. This is the problem we've got - we've got the Saudi Pro League who will be offering ridiculous amounts of money and they will be trying to bridge that gap. I think they [the club] have to stand their ground and I think Liverpool are doing well with this. They have got to say this is how we run the football club and if Mo Salah is going to go then so be it. Listen to the Monday Night Club. Rory Smith Senior Writer for The Athletic, on Monday Night Club It strikes me that he [Mohamed Salah] is making it very clear to the Liverpool fans that he wants to stay and if he doesn't end up staying, that it isn't from a lack of intent on his part. They [the club] will wonder if it's worth committing £300, 000-a-week or so to a player that may only have another year or two at this level. He might have another six at this level but that's the gamble Liverpool have to take. I think in exceptional cases - and I'd say the same with Van Dijk - I think you just give them the money and hope. I think Salah is performing at such a level, he's in very good nick. He hasn't had a lot of long lay-offs with injury and he had a spell in his early 20s where he didn't play that much. That would suggest to me that his actual football age might be a little lower. He is attacking Salah's overall characteristic instead of addressing Salah's comments. Looking at the situation itself from an employee-employer relationship, a lot of people can probably sympathise with Salah's position because there's plenty of times when we've demonstrated loyalty and worked hard, only for the employer to not reciprocate those same values when we approach the twilight of our careers, or the end of a contract. Anon Chris Sutton Former Premier League striker on Monday Night Club For him [Mohamed Salah] to come out and instigate the chat, clearly something is amiss and that cannot be good news for Liverpool and Liverpool supporters at this moment in time when the season has gone so swimmingly well. There is now this undercurrent and he is putting the club under pressure. Listen to Monday Night Club. Michael Brown Former Manchester City and Tottenham midfielder on Monday Night Club For him [Mohamed Salah] to stop in the mix zone, I thought that was really strange, it was out of character to put the pressure back on the football club. He has now put himself in the shop window. He's right at the top, he's scoring and he's going to continue to do that and he is maybe going to deliver Liverpool the title. I don't think they [the club] are in a huge rush at this moment in time. They are aware of the situation, they won't want him to go but they can't just give him ridiculous amounts of money - it's not going to work. Listen to the Monday Night Club. Because of the increase in the frequency of playing at the top level, they are subjected to injury. It is most unfair to give them a one year contract. Harry Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes "fans will demand to know" what is happening with Mohamed Salah's contract after the Egyptian revealed there was no offer currently on the table for him. "It's a little bit political, isn't it, " Aldridge told BBC Radio 5 Live. "It's a well known trait of Liverpool to keep things close to their chest but I think the fans will demand to know what's going on to a certain degree. " When asked whether fans will want him to stay, he added: "Absolutely, look at his figures. They're obscene and unbelievable. " Mohamed Salah's contract with Liverpool expires on 30 June, 2025. Defensive duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk both also have contracts that expire on this date. All three remain unresolved. Mohamed Salah is "selfish" for publicly expressing his disappointment at Liverpool's failure to offer him a new contract, says former Reds defender Jamie Carragher. Salah, whose current deal expires at the end of the season, told reporters after Sunday's win at Southampton that he is "probably more out than in" and has yet to be offered fresh terms. The 32-year-old is Liverpool's top scorer this season with 12 goals in all competitions and scored twice against the Saints to move the club eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. "I must say I am very disappointed with Mo Salah, " Carragher told Sky Sports' Monday Night Football. "Liverpool have Real Madrid midweek [in the Champions League] and Man City at the weekend. That's the story right now. " Read the full story. Newcastle 0-2 West Ham Kevin Nolan Former Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live It's amazing when you look at it, the table is just so packed from top to middle. A couple of wins and it can get you right up there and in amongst it again. West Ham are expecting now, they want to be in the top eight. I think that is where they want to be all the time now, they want to be playing their football the West Ham way as they say and also they want to be winning games. They got the win last night and I think they did it in a really good way, they snuffed out Newcastle in a good way and Newcastle struggled to break them down in that second half. Newcastle 0-2 West Ham West Ham United During last night's game, West Ham covered 120. 7 kilometres in distance against Newcastle. That distance is the longest of any side in a single Premier League match this season. Their previous best was the 113 kilometres they ran against Manchester United, which ranked 43rd of all clubs on this season's list. Newcastle 0-2 West Ham Kevin Nolan Former Newcastle midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live When you're down there and you're struggling and you haven't found your mojo yet, you need those moments and they did. they got it last night West Ham, I thought they were excellent in the second half. Newcastle really struggled, once they went 2-0 up with a fantastic goal from [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka, the first I think in three years. It was a great night for West Ham, a poor one for Newcastle Newcastle 0-2 West Ham Aaron Wan-Bissaka's second half goal clinched three points for the Hammers and for Wan-Bissaka personally, it saw him end a very long wait for a goal. His last goal came on February 2, 2021, almost four years ago for Manchester United against Southampton. That's a wait of 1, 392 days, three Prime Ministers ago. Wan-Bissaka, who has only scored three goals in his 248-match club career, has netted twice against Newcastle. #bbcfootball, Whats App 03301231826, text 81111 (UK only, standard rates apply) The pleasing thing to come out of the Newcastle/West Ham game was watching West Ham out Newcastle Newcastle. Very funny to hear their fans in the stadium whistling at time wasting in the first half. Brady V Newcastle 0-2 West Ham Newcastle United Perhaps the biggest frustration for Newcastle United this term has been their inconsistency throughout this season. After 12 games, they have five wins, three draws and four defeats. While they have beaten Arsenal and Tottenham at home, as well as holding Manchester City to a draw, they've also suffered recent home defeats to Brighton and West Ham. Newcastle's last six Premier League results: Newcastle 0-2 West Ham Newcastle United Newcastle's defeat to West Ham was their second defeat in their last three home Premier League matches. Prior to that, Newcastle had only lost in two in 20 Premier League matches at home. This weekend's results see them drop to 10th in the table, their lowest position at this stage of the season since the 2021-22 campaign. Newcastle 0-2 West Ham Julen Lopetegui and the West Ham fans will know its too soon to suggest this has been a corner turned. Despite this win, they are still averaging fewer points and goals per game than Moyes managed in his final campaign, which saw some fans turn against him. West Ham averaged 1. 58 goals per game last term but that has dropped to 1. 25 this season. But defensively there has been improvement, with 1. 73 goals conceded per game this term compared to 1. 95 in 2023-24. "We have to build as a team if we are to work and know what we want to do, " Lopetegui told Sky Sports after Monday's win. "I think about the play. That is the thing that we try to do. We have a lot of matches that we need to do and I believe in the future this team is going to be able to do the things and show the style as a team. " Newcastle 0-2 West Ham Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has called West Ham's win at Newcastle a huge victory for under pressure manager Julen Lopetegui. "A huge result for the manager, " Carragher said on Sky Sports. "I did not see how West Ham could win this game, they have to use this as a springboard now. " Newcastle 0-2 West Ham The match stats from Newcastle 0-2 West Ham show a largely even affair. Newcastle edged the match, both in terms of possession and shots, but managed to steer only two of their attempts on target. That is compared to visitors West Ham, who had triple the amount of shots on goal. Last Updated 7th November 2024 at 12: 20 Please Note: All times UK. Tables are subject to change.
