Andrey Santos, Caleb Wiley and goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic are currently on loan at the Ligue 1 club owned by Blue Co. Santos and Petrovic have been consistent starters for Strasbourg, while Wiley has not featured since November due to a shoulder injury. FIFA's rules dictate that, regardless of age or club-trained status, only a maximum of three players are allowed to be loaned to the same side at any given time during a season. Chukwuemeka has been linked with clubs abroad such as Borussia Dortmund and at home including West Ham, though Chelsea are keen on his £40million release clause being met if he is to leave permanently. Loan opportunities are being considered with the club keen to find a way for him to continue his development. Strasbourg could yet act as a fail-safe alternative, depending on how interest develops over the coming weeks. Chukwuemeka was signed for £20million from Aston Villa in August 2022 when he was 18 and tied down to a six-year deal. Thomas Tuchel was Chelsea's manager at the time but was sacked a month after his arrival as Graham Potter then took over. He finished that 2022-23 season with only 15 appearances in total, starting just once under Potter. Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka could join Strasbourg on a loan deal this month The Blues, however, would have to recall one of their three players currently there - such as Djordje Petrovic Andrey Santos (left) and Caleb Wiley (right) are the other two players currently with the club Chukwuemeka has not yet appeared in the Premier League under current boss Enzo Maresca Now 21, Chukwuemeka has not yet appeared in the Premier League under Enzo Maresca this season and has been used sparingly in the cup competitions. His one and only start came against Astana in Kazakhstan in their last Conference League victory. Chelsea face Morecambe in the FA Cup this Saturday. It remains to be seen if that third-round tie will be used as a chance to place Chukwuemeka in the shop window.
