Romeo Lavia will miss Chelsea's clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday due to injury. Blues manager Enzo Maresca confirmed last summer's £58million signing has a small hamstring issue. Maresca stated the injury wasn't 'too much of a concern'. However, it marks yet another game Lavia is absent for after his injury troubles in his debut season last term. He made just one appearance in 2023/24, a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League that saw him play 32 minutes. Lavia waited four months for his Blues debut, then picked up a thigh injury in the game against the Eagles, ruling him out once again. The ex-Southampton midfielder returned to action in Chelsea's opening Premier League game, starting against Manchester City. He played 67 minutes of the 2-0 defeat. Lavia then came on for the end of Chelsea's 2-0 win over Servette in the Europa Conference League play-off first leg. But after getting 73 minutes under his belt, he will miss Chelsea's trip to Molineux. Games are coming thick and fast for Chelsea, too, with them travelling to Switzerland to play the second leg of their play-off against Servette on Thursday. Lavia made 34 appearances for Southampton before sealing his move to Stamford Bridge last summer. Prior to that, he'd been at Manchester City, making two senior appearances after briefly being in their youth system. City pocketed £10. 5m from the Saints, plus £3. 5million in add-ons. "My mum never watched a game of mine at Man City, " Lavia previously said, reflecting on his lack of first-team chances as he started out. "That's to tell you how hard it was but I never really complained because I knew what I was getting into, the same in every decision I've made. "It's never been a problem. Even with the injuries last season, it was tough but what can you do? Turn it into a positive. " He continued: “I'd say that it was unlucky and I tried to catch up every time. My body let me down a couple of times. " Have your say on all things talk SPORT by joining ‘The DUGOUT’ – our new listener panel.
