Enjoy the rest of your evening! By William Pickworth Guglielmo Vicario has unsurprisingly been awarded the Player of the Match award after his superb display and he's just given an honest assessment of the match. By William Pickworth By William Pickworth Not the prettiest game to watch if you are a Tottenham fan, and that is their first 0-0 draw in 125 games. The last time that happened was two-and-a-half years ago when Spurs drew 0-0 with AC Milan in a Champions League last-16 tie. By William Pickworth And that's that at Stamford Bridge too. A dominant night for Chelsea, whose youngsters excelled, albeit Ajax were pretty dire. But a thumping victory and as we know from last year in the new League Phase format, goal difference is crucial come the final standings. By William Pickworth Spurs survive and pick up an important point having being at far from their best. Guglielmo Vicario was in inspired form to fully earn his clean sheet, and Thomas Frank's side now have five points in three games. Real Madrid have also held on to take home a 1-0 win over Juventus. By William Pickworth Thibaut Courtois makes a great save to maintain his side's lead. Real then break from the resulting corner but Valverde just delays his pass too long and the chance goes. It's not been a great game at the Bernabeu but that should be enough for Xabi Alonso's side and this will be another important three points. By William Pickworth Tottenham work the ball into a dangerous area but they give it away and Monaco break. They work it across from side to side but Spurs do just about enough and Xavi Simons wins a free kick. Monaco boss Sebastián Pocognoli will rue his side's missed chances but you expect his counterpart Thomas Frank will be satisfied with a point. By William Pickworth A rare foray forward for Tottenham in these latter stages. Sarr brings the ball up and plays it across to Johnson but he's timid with his effort and scuffs it. Could he have taken a touch? A bit of possession though for Spurs as we head into six minutes of added time. By William Pickworth Are Monaco going to rue these missed chances? Minamino blazes over again after being played in by Balogun. The Liverpool star then can only hook an effort wide and the Principality side have now had 21 shots, but the score is all that matters. Spurs are hanging on. .. six minutes to go. Meanwhile, take a look at the latest brilliant save from Vicario below. By William Pickworth It's almost six for Chelsea as Estevao, who has been so bright, is played in. He creates some space for himself and fires at goal, but Pasveer saves rather unconventionally with his shoulder. Walsh has looked bright since coming on too and the future is promising for the Blues if these kids continue to develop. Monaco continue to dominate this clash but it's still 0-0. Spurs have Vicario to thank for another brilliant save though. Golovin is in down the left and hooks the ball across to Teze who is about six yards out, but his header is straight at the Italian. Brilliant reflexes from the Spurs No 1. Just as I type that Minamino blasts over from six yards out this time. A point here would be massive for Thomas Frank's side, they're hanging on. .. Youth rules the roost at Stamford Bridge. Ajax have been absolutely woeful but this has been a brilliant night for Chelsea. Another special moment for Chelsea as 17-year-old Reggie Walsh comes on for his Champions League debut. He replaces Romeo Lavia, who continues to build up his fitness. Meanwhile, take a look at Tyrique George's goal below. .. By William Pickworth A slight lull at Stamford Bridge after a hugely dramatic 30 minutes but it's still so comfortable for Chelsea. Josh Acheampong has also replaced Moises Caicedo with this scoreline giving Enzo Maresca the luxury of resting his troops. Ajax have barely got into the Blues' half in the second period and these final 30 minutes are going to feel long. Meanwhile, Trevoh Chalobah is Chelsea's third captain of the evening. By William Pickworth Who else? After almost 60 minutes, Real Madrid have a breakthrough. It's brilliant from Vinicius Jnr who wriggles away from his marker to fire an effort on goal, but it cannons back off the post. Fear not, Jude Bellingham is there to tap home for his first goal of the season. By William Pickworth Ruthless from Chelsea and what a chance to secure a statement victory. Minutes after coming on, Tyrique George makes it five. Chelsea win the ball back and work it nicely across the pitch. Caicedo finds Lavia who feeds in Santos. The ball then breaks to George and with what could be his first touch, he slots home, although it takes a big deflection off Rosa. Another debut Champions League goal for a Chelsea star. By William Pickworth We're back underway and there's lots of action on the touchline. Klaassen replaces Weghorst for Ajax, while its a triple change for Chelsea. George, Santos and Chalobah are on for Guiu, Fernandez and Tosin. An eye on Saturday for Enzo Maresca perhaps? After that bonkers first 45 minutes, what has this half got in store for us? Athletic Club 3-1 Qarabag FT Galatasaray 3-1 Bodo/Glimt FT Atalanta 0-0 Slavia Prague Bayern Munich 3-0 Club Brugge Chelsea 4-1 Ajax Frankfurt 1-3 Liverpool Monaco 0-0 Tottenham Real Madrid 0-0 Juventus Sporting CP 0-1 Marseille By William Pickworth Fernandez unselfishly hands the ball to Estevao. The Brazilian has a lengthy run up but he makes no mistake to score his first Champions League goal. A beautiful finish into the left hand corner and Ajax are being taken apart by Chelsea. A brilliant penalty and that is half-time. By William Pickworth What is going on here? A third penalty of the first half and a second one for Chelsea. The lively Estevao runs into the area and Baas can't resist a few nibbles on the Brazilian and he concedes another penalty. Ajax are imploding. .. By William Pickworth We said Weghorst had been in the thick of things but this is terrible from the big striker. Chelsea play the ball down the left and Gittens feeds Fernandez. Out of nowhere Weghorst is back in his own penalty area and recklessly slides in on the Argentine to concede a penalty. What a moment of madness from the giant Dutch forward and it just adds to this dramatic first half. Fernandez steps up and makes no mistake. 3-1 to Chelsea and it's a long way back now. By William Pickworth Tottenham have not got going yet and it's another huge save from Vicario to deny Balogun. The striker was played in and from about 12 yards looked destined to score, but the Italian has somehow palmed it around the post. Brilliant goalkeeping! By William Pickworth There's been a lengthy delay at Stamford Bridge as Weghorst received treatment after he was caught by a stray Tosin boot in his face. Chelsea have really dropped off since their second goal and Weghorst is causing a few problems up top. They need to get themselves up again here. By William Pickworth Away from the chaotic start at Stamford Bridge, it's still 0-0 over in Monaco. But Spurs have Vicario to thank for this huge stop from former Arsenal man Balogun. Premier League cult hero Wout Weghorst steps up. And the giant Dutch striker makes no mistake as he fires the ball under Filip Jorgensen. The keeper should have done better there really, it goes right under him. A first goal of the competition for the Dutch giants and a bit of light relief for their supporters. What a chaotic first half this is. Moro receives the ball out wide and moves into the box but is caught late by Tosin as he tries to cross the ball. Silly from Tosin, who stands on his foot - and Ajax have a lifeline. Really sloppy from the Blues though. By William Pickworth And it's 2-0! More good play from Chelsea sees the ball worked out to Caicedo about 30 yards out. We know the midfielder likes a long-ranger and he chances his luck. .. Oh no, his effort takes a wicked deflection off Sukalo and goes in the other corner to where Pasveer is diving. A fourth of the season for the Ecuadorian and this definitely will be a long night for Ajax. By William Pickworth This is comfortable for Chelsea already as both Gittens and Estevao strut their stuff on the wings. John Heitinga has seen enough already, and decides to make a sub, but it's been met with a fierce reaction from Ajax fans. The more attacking Gloukh is replaced by defensive midfielder Mokio. The Dutch fans are fuming. I've never heard so much booing and whistling for an early sub and this could be a long night for them as Gittens wins another corner. By William Pickworth No sooner are Ajax down to 10 men and they're behind. Chelsea take the free kick short and Buonanotte's ball goes all the way through to Fofana at the back post. He heads the ball across and Guiu taps home. What a good few minutes for Chelsea that is and a first goal in 2025 for the Spaniard. A quick VAR check, but he's miles onside and this could be a long night for the Dutch side. By William Pickworth Referee Felix Zwayer has no hesitation in handing out an early yellow card as Kenneth Taylor catches Buonanotte. Ooh that is a bad tackle. The Ajax No 8 has caught the midfielder above the ankle and this looks a bad one. Zwayer is sent over to the screen, takes one look and has no hesitation in upgrading his decision to a red. What a bad start for the Dutch side. A good use of VAR too! By William Pickworth Better from Chelsea as they make their first proper move forward. Estevao wins a corner after good work down the right side but Mc Connell gets his head on a dangerous ball in. They force another corner and Ajax deal with it. The Dutch side are looking to be brave already in terms of playing out from the back and pressing high. By William Pickworth Not much to report from the early stages as both sides ease their way into this game. As expected, Caicedo is tucking in to midfield from right back to form a double pivot alongside Lavia, allowing Fernandez to play higher next to Buonanotte. It's absolutely hammering it down at Stamford Bridge, a miserable evening in London. By William Pickworth The players are out on the pitch at Stamford Bridge and we're about to get underway. It promises to be an exciting night all across Europe. Here we go. .. By William Pickworth The Chelsea boss was asked about his side's recent poor disciplinary record. By William Pickworth By William Pickworth Enzo Maresca is leaving it to Chelsea’s players to punish themselves for their glut of red cards, with the Italian head coach revealing there is an internal fine system in place between his stars. In the build-up to facing Ajax in the Champions League on Wednesday night, the Blues have seen red in five of their last six games in all competitions, including one for Maresca. Malo Gusto became the latest to be dismissed for a silly second yellow in their away win at Nottingham Forest. Read the full story below. .. By William Pickworth Or so Ajax boss John Heitinga will hope tonight against a youthful Chelsea side. Liverpool loanee James Mc Connell starts for the Dutch side as does former Man United man Wout Weghorst. Everton flop Davy Klaassen is on the bench. Ajax are currently fourth in the Eredivisie, nine points behind leaders Feyenoord. By William Pickworth By William Pickworth The defender is currently out with a hamstring injury, but you'd hope he receives a good reception from Tottenham fans anyway tonight if he is inside the ground. 10 years of service and 365 appearances is hugely impressive in the modern era after all. By William Pickworth We mentioned that Ryan Kavuma-Mc Queen was on the bench for Chelsea tonight for the first time. But who is the 16-year-old that you may never have heard of? Don't worry, we've got you covered with this piece from last month which came after Kavuma-Mc Queen scored four - and set up another - in England Under 17s 7-5 victory over their German counterparts. By William Pickworth Thomas Frank has been speaking ahead of tonight's game on his initial challenges at Tottenham and where his side must improve. By William Pickworth Two European heavyweights clash at the Bernabeu tonight where Real Madrid take on Juventus. Jude Bellingham starts for the hosts as he continues to step up to fitness following his shoulder injury. Real take on an Italian side who have endured a difficult few years on and off the pitch. Between 2014 and 2017 they reached two Champions League finals - and lost both - but since then they have been getting further away from that. You may remember that the second of those defeats came against a Cristiano Ronaldo-inspired Real. By William Pickworth We have nine matches in total tonight across Europe and there are plenty of exciting match-ups in store. There were two games which kicked off at 17: 45 so they are midway through the second half right now, but all the others are at 20: 00. Athletic Club 1-1 Qarabag Galatasaray 2-0 Bodo/Glimt Atlanta vs Slavia Prague Bayern Munich vs Club Brugge Chelsea vs Ajax Eintracht Frankfurt vs Liverpool Monaco vs Tottenham Real Madrid vs Juventus Sporting CP vs Marseille By William Pickworth Thomas Frank makes three changes to the side that lost 2-1 to Aston Villa on Sunday. Gray, Richarlison and Bergvall replace Spence, Tel and Simons. (4-2-3-1): Vicario; Porro, Danso, Van de Ven (C), Gray; Palhinha, Bentancur; Kudus, Bergvall, Odobert; Richarlison By William Pickworth Sentimental Spurs fans will get the chance to see Eric Dier tonight, albeit not on the pitch due to injury, with the 31-year-old now plying his trade for Monaco after a summer move from Bayern Munich. Dier, a 49-cap England international, is a player that has split opinion throughout his career, yet there is no doubting he was an important figure for Tottenham during the best spell of the Mauricio Pochettino era. Over 10 years in north London, he played 365 times for the club and whatever you think of Dier, he did have plenty of good moments. By William Pickworth Enzo Maresca makes TEN changes from Saturday's win against Nottingham Forest. That is quite the call from the Italian but is indicative of the hectic fixture schedule clubs in Europe face, alongside the Blues' squad depth. Marc Guiu earns a start after his strong recent cameos off the bench (alongside Joao Pedro's suspension), while Enzo Fernandez returns from injury and Filip Jorgensen gets the nod in goal. (4-2-3-1): Jorgensen; Caicedo, Fofana, Tosin, Hato; Lavia, Enzo (C); Estevao, Buonanotte, Gittens; Guiu By William Pickworth And the atmosphere is building around Stamford Bridge. By William Pickworth There was significant excitement when Tottenham completed the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig for £52million towards the end of the summer transfer window. But, as of yet, the Dutchman is yet to dazzle and in some quarters patience is starting to wear a little thin. So, what has been going wrong? Well, Daily Mail Sport has tried to find out. .. By William Pickworth It was a tale of two halves as a second half dismantling of Nottingham Forest by Chelsea saw off Ange Postecoglou's ill-fated reign at the City Ground. Enzo Maresca's side badly struggled in the first period, but a triple half-time change by the Italian turned the tide as the Blues jumped up to fifth in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory. Given the second half display, Maresca's team selection will be interesting tonight, but in the meantime you can catch up with their clash agaisnt Forest below. By William Pickworth For all the latest Chelsea news from the boardroom to the academy, be sure to read today's unmissable column on the club from KIERAN GILL. This week's Chelsea Confidential has updates on a former Liverpool guru's arrival, Enzo Maresca's future and also the plan for the next Blues wonderkid. You can read all of that and more below. .. By William Pickworth One win and one defeat so far for Chelsea on their return to the Champions League after two years away. They were beaten 3-1 by Bayern Munich in their opener, which although disappointing, isn't a terrible result given Vincent Kompany's side are arguably the continent's in-form team. Enzo Maresca's men responded with a 1-0 victory over Benfica as Jose Mourinho returned to Stamford Bridge. The Blues come in to tonight following back-to-back wins against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League - and they showed signs of their best football during those games. Ajax currently sit bottom of the League Phase and the Dutch giants are not the side they once were, so Maresca will expect his side to continue their good form. By William Pickworth By William Pickworth It's been an interesting start to the season for Tottenham, who are yet to fully click under Thomas Frank. They sit sixth in the Premier League and the story has been similar in Europe. Spurs did beat Villarreal 1-0 in their first game of the Champions League in what was a slightly drab affair, before they fought back from 2-0 down to draw against Bodo/Glimt last month. Four points from two games is not bad at all, but with matches to come against PSG, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in the League Phase, a win would be very much welcomed this evening. By William Pickworth On our blog over here, we'll be focusing on Chelsea vs Ajax and Monaco vs Tottenham along with updates from other games this evening. However, if you're particularly keen on Liverpool's clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, we've got a whole dedicated blog just to that game. You can follow that with my colleague Tum Balogun below. .. By William Pickworth Arsenal and Manchester City secured comfortable wins against Atletico Madrid and Villarreal respectively last night, but this evening it's over to Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool. This is the third week of Champions League action this season and the trio each have won one win so far. The Blues host Ajax, while Spurs travel to Monaco and Arne Slot's struggling side take on Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany. It promises to be an exciting evening! By William Pickworth And welcome to Daily Mail Sport's live coverage of Wednesday night's Champions League action. Chelsea, Tottenham and Liverpool are the English teams with games on, while there are several blockbuster ties elsewhere. Be sure to stay with us across the night for all the build-up, team news and updates from around the grounds. So Carragher ! ! Blues won’ t get out of the f. ..
