It will still be a night to remember for Shamrock Rovers and their fans, who were in dreamland when Markus Poom equalised on 26 minutes before it quickly unravelled from there. Rovers will now have a play-off to look forward to in February and they will be the seeded team with the draw taking place tomorrow. Until then, Stephen Bradley will have plenty to do; not least sorting out the futures of the likes of Poom, Johnny Kenny and Neil Farrugia as well as integrate new signings, with Danny Grant already arriving from Bohemians. It will likely be a very different side that takes part in their next game in this competition from this one here at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea 5-1 Shamrock Rovers Lauren Mc Cann BBC Sport NI Shamrock Rovers were beginning to tire so it is not a surprise to see the introduction of energetic duo Danny Mandroui and Jack Byrne, who both had spells in England. Mandroiu was with Lincoln City whilst Byrne spent his youth career with Manchester City. Mandroiu is also a Chelsea fan so what a moment for him coming on at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea 5-1 Shamrock Rovers Joao Felix clearly wants to make an impression after coming on as a sub here. He has another shot, which almost squirms through the legs of Leon Pohls. Marc Guiu lifted his Conference League tally this season to six goals Marc Guiu scored a first-half hat-trick as Chelsea cruised past Shamrock Rovers to finish top of the Conference League league phase with a 100% record. Already assured of a last-16 spot, Enzo Maresca's youthful Blues followed heavy early pressure by taking a deserved lead when Guiu capitalised on a misunderstanding between Darragh Burns and goalkeeper Leon Pohls. Rovers, who had gone close twice through Johnny Kenny either side of Guiu's opener, got back on level terms when Markus Poom's fierce shot deflected in off midfielder Cesare Casadei, delighting their 3, 000 travelling supporters. But those celebrations were short-lived as Guiu intercepted Daniel Cleary's under-hit back pass and steered the ball into the back of the net from the tightest of angles. Kiernan-Dewsbury Hall drilled home a loose ball inside the area to give the Blues breathing space, before Guiu completed his treble with a close-range header in first-half stoppage time. Marc Cucurella completed the scoring in the second half, his low shot striking the inside of the post on its way past Pohls as the Blues ended the league phase campaign in style. More to follow.
