Ian Wright blasted Erling Haaland as a 'coward' for his behaviour against Arsenal in Sunday's Premier League clash. After John Stones scored a last-gasp equaliser to rescue a 2-2 draw for Manchester City, Haaland picked the ball out of the net and threw it at a devastated Gabriel, who had his face covered by his shirt. The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewed Haaland's controversial act but decided no action was necessary as it did not warrant a red card. It would have been the second red card of the game with Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard getting sent off for a second bookable offence late in the first half. The Belgian clattered into the back of Bernardo Silva and kicked the ball away to delay the restart, leaving referee Michael Oliver with little choice but to brandish a second yellow. It was the second time in three Premier League fixtures Arsenal had a player marched off for a similar offence after Declan Rice saw red against Brighton. In a video on Instagram, Wright felt the decision to send Trossard off for what he did was 'f****** foolishness'. But Wright saved his anger for Haaland in an explosive rant. “But you know what really boiled me up properly? Haaland’s coward's move, " Wright said. “I saw it this morning properly, throwing the ball at Gabi’s head when he’s not looking, when his back’s turned to him. “What a real coward's move. Gabi would look you in the eye. “I’m looking at this as a really good defender versus striker for years to come, I love watching them two, and then you’re doing a cowards move like that. “Nah man, that’s what bothers me more than everything else, I thought you were bigger than that bro, I thought you were bigger than that. ” Haaland, who scored his 100th Premier League goal in the first half, caused another fracas immediately after the kick-off following Stones' goal. The 24-year-old charged forward as the Gunners played it all the way back to goalkeeper David Raya and barged into Thomas Partey, who acted as a blocker. Arsenal were incensed but Oliver gave Haaland a stern talking to, only to blow for full-time just seconds later. Haaland's controversial behaviour continued after the game. The Norwegian striker told Gunners boss Mikel Arteta to 'stay humble' twice, as the latter stopped walking and stared at the striker. Although Arteta did not get involved, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus took umbrage with Haaland's actions and told him to calm down. But Haaland was not done. "Talking about what? I wasn't talking, f****** clown, " Haaland replied. Jesus demanded Haaland to not touch him, to which the City star responded: "What you talking about? Get the f*** away, you f****** clown! " Despite the post-match scenes, the Football Association (FA) confirmed no retrospective action would be taken. Manchester City and Arsenal will look to put Sunday's draw behind them as they both feature in midweek Carabao Cup action.
