But sources close to the England camp are not expecting Southgate to make any knee-jerk judgement on whether to stay or go. Southgate's current deal expires in December. The FA do have a shortlist of potential replacements including Graham Potter, Eddie Howe and under-21 boss Lee Carsley but have not held talks with any candidate. The feeling coming into the tournament was that Southgate would stand down, however, he was close to quitting after the Qatar World Cup before being convinced to stay. Joshua Zirkzee has arrived in Manchester and will complete his move to United today. The Dutch striker flew into England on Thursday evening after the Netherlands were eliminated in the semi-finals by the Three Lions at Euro 2024, and will undergo a medical on Friday. United paid slightly over the €40million (£34m) release clause in Zirkzee’s Bologna contract. That is because they will stagger their payments to Bologna over a three-year period, and will pay a fee of €42. 5m (£36m). Zirkzee has agreed a contract until June 2029, with United holding an option to extend that for a further year. The 23-year-old was Bologna’s top scorer last season, netting 11 goals and providing five assists to help the Italian club seal Champions League qualification. Zirkzee was part of Bayern Munich’s youth system and played 17 times for the German club. He spent spells on loan at Parma and Anderlecht before moving to Bologna in 2022, where he leaves with a record of 14 goals in 58 appearances. Zirkzee will be working under one of the United’s greatest ever goalscorers and fellow Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has joined Erik ten Hag's coaching staff. Meanwhile, United are also closing on another Netherlands star - Matthijs De Ligt. Talks are advancing between Bayern Munich and United over a deal for the centre-back. Sevilla have agreed a deal to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan. According to reports, the Spanish side will hold an option to make the deal permanent for a fee of £10million. As revealed by talk SPORT, the midfielder has moved to Elland Road on a season-long loan deal having spent last term on loan with Southampton. Discussing the move on Leeds' website, the 29-year-old said: "It’s unbelievable, as soon as I heard of the interest, it was something I was desperate to make happen and thankfully we’ve managed to do it quite quickly, so I can’t wait to get going now. “I don’t think Leeds United needs selling to anyone to be honest, it is a huge football club. “The club were a bit unlucky last year, but the aim is one thing and that is to to get back to the Premier League, so I want to come here, add a bit of experience and help the team do that. “When you think of Leeds, you think of the fans and I’ve had a few experiences of playing at Elland Road before and it’s the first time I’ve felt a stadium vibrate before when a goal went in, so it will be nice to be on the right side of the fans this time, instead of the wrong side. “I had a good few conversations with the manager, he spoke so highly of the place and what brought him here and that made me want to come even more and there is only one aim this season and that is to get back to the Premier League. ” talk SPORT understands that Joshua Zirkzee has agreed a five-year deal with Manchester United. Man United are set to pay his release clause of £34 million to Bologna. Personal terms are already sorted, and he's expected to complete a medical in the coming days. He will join up with his fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. Rothwell has travelled to Elland Road to undergo a medical and complete his move. The 29-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the Whites' Championship rivals Southampton. He scored four goals in 16 second-tier appearances for the club, only making four starts in total. Rothwell is Leeds' third signing of the summer after making Joe Rodon's loan permanent and bringing in goalkeeper Alex Cairns. Manchester United have confirmed that Donny van de Beek's time at Old Trafford is over. The Dutchman has completed a permanent move to Girona in Spain. He joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2020 from Ajax for around £40 million, but for various reasons, the move never worked out for him. In return, Man United are set to receive an initial £425, 000. In total, he made 62 appearances, scoring two goals in that time, while he also spent two loan moves away at Everton and Eintracht Frankfurt, respectively. But after four years, he's leaving permanently. In a statement posted on Instagram, he said: "Dear Manchester United family, today is a memorable day as my adventure at the club comes to an end. "I want to thank you all for your support throughout the years. From the moment we arrived at Manchester United, we felt extremely welcome and we are grateful for that. "Thank you to everyone at the club for making us feel at home. A special thanks to all the fans that made these years unforgettable. "Besides the football, the birth of our two children here ensures that Manchester will always have a special place in our hearts. "Good luck to everybody, we'll meet again. " This is a transfer that was confirmed as soon as Sheffield United were relegated due to terms in the contract, but Aston Villa have now officially announced the arrival of Cameron Archer. Villa sold the striker to the Blades in the summer of 2023, but as part of the deal, demotion to the Championship for Sheffield United would see Archer return to Villa Park. Therefore, the Blades effectively paid a hefty sum of money for a one-year loan. It's unclear what will happen to Archer now that he's back, but with Jhon Duran's future unclear, it's possible that Archer will stay and provide competition for Ollie Watkins. Alternatively, Villa might decide to move him on should they find a suitable candidate. Luton's preparations for the 2024/25 Championship season have continued with arrival of Reuell Walters from Arsenal. The 19-year-old becomes the Hatters' second signing of the summer after his contract with the Gunners expired. Walters can play anywhere across the backline and turned down a new deal from Arsenal to pursue a first-team career elsewhere. Meanwhile, Sunderland have added some much-needed experience to the team with the addition of Alan Browne. The Republic of Ireland international was a free agent after leaving Preston and has joined the Black Cats. He's penned a three-year contract. Nico Williams has been heavily linked with a Premier League move this summer, with Chelsea and Arsenal particularly interested in the winger, although Barcelona and Liverpool are also said to be keen. His performances at Euro 2024 are sure to have only increased the number of suitors he has. But his club, Athletic Bilbao, have hit back at all the speculation in an unprecedented club statement. In response to all of the transfer rumours, they've basically come out and said Williams isn't for sale and isn't going anywhere. The statement said: "Nico, a footballer very committed to Athletic Club, has been subjected to a bombardment of questions about his future in an excessive and uncontrolled manner, when he is concentrated to compete in the Euro Cup by the Spanish Football Federation, which has not known how to protect him. "Athletic aspires to the maximum, without limits. We are showing that we have an attractive and winning project for our players and coach. The proof is that we have recently renewed two of our internationals, Simón (2029) and Vivian (2031), Nico. "He signed last year until 2027, and coveted players such as Oihan Sancet, Benat Prados, Julen Agirrezabala, and Aitor Paredes have also been committed for several seasons, to give some examples. "Athletic Club is economically, socially and sportingly capable of keeping footballers of the calibre of those named in its structure, including Nico Williams. " Wilfried Ndidi is set to sign a new three-year deal at Leicester, talk SPORT understands. The Nigerian's contract at the King Power expired at the end of June, and it was anticipated he would move on. However, despite interest from Crystal Palace and Everton, he's rejected their advances to re-commit to the Foxes. This is a huge boost for Steve Cooper's men ahead of their return to the top-flight, given Ndidi's top-flight experience. Big news coming out of Manchester United, talk SPORT sources understand that Joshua Zirkzee has agreed a five-year deal with the Red Devils. Man United are ready to pay the striker's release clause of £34 million to Bologna. Personal terms are sorted, and he's expected to complete a medical in the coming days and make the move official. He will join up with his fellow Dutchman Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford and will provide some stern competition for Rasmus Hojlund. talk SPORT understands that Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has emerged as a target for Borussia Dortmund. The Danish midfielder is into the last year of his contract in north London, and with Archie Gray now in the team, it's possible is game time will drastically come down. Given he's not close to signing a new deal, Spurs would be open to selling the former Southampton man if a suitable offer comes in, and a return to Germany would appeal to the 28-year-old. Hojbjerg started his senior career with Bayern Munich and a move back to the Bundesliga could be exactly what he's looking for at this stage of his career. talk SPORT understands that Newcastle United have identified Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville as a summer target. The Toon had wanted to bring Michael Olise to St James' Park, but he ended up going to Bayern Munich, leaving the Magpies one of several disappointed Premier League sides. However, with Paul Mitchell now in place as the club's sporting director, work has begun on adding some attacking reinforcements to Eddie Howe's team, with a right winger the top priority target. Summerville can play on either wing and is expected to depart Elland Road this summer. After dealing with their PSR concerns at the end of June, Newcastle are expected to have quite a large transfer budget this summer and a good chunk of that could go on Summerville. Joao Palhinha has finally completed his move from Fulham to Bayern Munich after a protracted transfer process. The Portuguese international has signed a four-year deal, while Fulham have pocketed up to £47 million for the defensive midfielder. And Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl is very pleased. Speaking to the club's website, he said: "Joao Palhinha was already highly regarded at FC Bayern last summer - and rightly so! It was important that we never lost contact. "Joao really wanted to come to FC Bayern and we need players like him. He is an important building block for our future. "He has once again demonstrated his strengths on a big stage at the European Championships and brings a lot of experience with him, having previously played in a European Championship and a World Cup and around 300 competitive matches in the Portuguese and English leagues. He will give us even more stability in the centre. " Arsenal are continuing to hold talks over a deal for Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori. The Italy international - who has been likened to Paolo Maldini - has been identified as a top target by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta. Bologna are understand to be seeking a fee of at least €50m (£42m) to part with the 22-year-old. Basel are due 50% of any profit Bologna make, having sold him to the Italian club last summer for £3. 4m. Arsenal depart for their pre-season tour of the United States next week, and Arteta is keen to get a deal over the line before then. Calafiori is keen on the move and personal terms will not be a problem. Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha on a deal until 2028. The Portugal international, who made 33 appearances in the Premier League last season, saw a deadline-day move to the German giants collapse last summer. Now he has got the move he wanted for a fee which could rise to £47m - joining Michael Olise as the second big Premier League signing made by new Bayern boss Vincent Kompany. The Bundesliga giants have also confirmed the defensive midfielder will take the number 16 shirt. The 29-year-old joined Fulham in 2022 from Sporting Lisbon and established himself as a key player for the club. Palhinha joins the list of notable departures from Craven Cottage this summer with Tosin Adarabioyo and Bobby De Cordova-Reid having left the club on free transfers and with the future of out-of-contract Willian still up in the air. Defensive midfielder Palhinha featured at Euro 2024 for Portugal where they were knocked out of the competition in the quarter-finals by France on penalties. This is a second successive summer where Fulham have received a large fee for a high-profile player, with Aleksandar Mitrovic departing last August to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal. Boss Marco Silva still has Tom Cairney and Harrison Reed at his disposal to replace Palhinha but could look to the market for replacements ahead the Cottagers' season opener against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 16.
