Michael Olise cut an unsympathetic figure after Bayern Munich put Auckland City to the sword at the Club World Cup. The former Crystal Palace star scored two goals during Bayern's 10-0 thrashing of the New Zealand side in their Group C opener. It's the biggest win in Club World Cup history and demonstrated the gulf in class between European royalty and a non-professional side. Bayern were 4-0 up after just 21 minutes to crush whatever hope Auckland may have had in getting a result against the German giants. The New Zealand Northern League outfit have a squad that features a teacher, a barber and even students. But Olise didn't want to delve too deep into Bayern's opponents and his answer to one post-match interview question certainly backs this. "Did you feel a little bit bad for Auckland, because obviously you were so much stronger than your opponents? " a DAZN reporter asked him. Olise was quick to respond and simply said with chuckle "Nope, no. " Fans on social media appeared to love his attitude as one on X said: "Elite mentality. " "It’s a competition. Why would he feel bad? " a second added. A third commented: "The most disrespectful thing you can do to an opponent is feel sorry for them. " "Would've been more disrespect if he said that he did tbf, " a fourth said. Olise's goals against Auckland City increased his tally to 19 across all competitions during his debut season at Bayern. The winger also assisted Kingsley Coman and Thomas Muller to take him to 23 overall. If they somehow weren't already, Bayern will be one of the favourites for the Club World Cup title after their weekend win. Argentine giants Boca Juniors are their next opponents on Saturday before a clash against fellow European side Benfica. Should Bayern win Group C, they will face the runner-up from Group D in the last 16. That could potentially be Chelsea, who start their campaign tonight against Los Angeles FC, live on talk SPORT.
