The Toffees have decided to sack Sean Dyche three hours before they face Peterborough United in the FA Cup. In his place, legendary full-back duo Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman will reunite on the sidelines. They will be managing Ashley Young, who is set to go up against his son, Tyler. The 18-year-old is part of the Posh's team and could end up facing his father on the pitch. Plus, the game was nearly called off because of the snow. Just another normal day at Everton, then. Incredibly, Everton have parted ways with Sean Dyche just three hours before kick-off with Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman set to take temporary charge. The Toffees have sacked the former Burnley manager after two years in charge. The 53-year-old becomes the sixth Premier League manager to leave their role this season. Dyche leaves Goodison Park with the Toffees 16th in the table, just a point above the relegation zone. The decision comes just over two weeks after the Friedkin Group's takeover of the club. During Dyche's tenure, Everton won 26 of their 83 matches across all competitions, with the former Burnley boss guiding them to safety in the last two seasons. However, he oversaw a run of one win in his last 11 matches as manager as goals dried up for the Toffees. In an official statement, they said: "Everton Football Club can confirm that Sean Dyche has been relieved of his duties as Senior Men’s First Team Manager with immediate effect. "Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard and Billy Mercer have also left the Club. "The process to appoint a new manager is under way and an update will be provided in due course. "Under-18s Head Coach Leighton Baines and Club Captain Seamus Coleman will take charge of first-team affairs on an interim basis. " There was a brief moment earlier today when it looked as if Everton's home game against Peterborough would be called off. However, after a safety check this afternoon, the match will go ahead, and it will be live on talk SPORT. There was concern after some more snow fell on Merseyside and temperatures are anticipated to be around 0 degrees. So, it will be a chilly one for those attending Goodison this evening. In a statement, the club said: "Our third-round FA Cup tie with Peterborough will go ahead as planned this evening (kick-off 7: 45pm). "A safety meeting was held this afternoon to assess the weather and travel conditions for fans attending the tie, which confirmed the game can go ahead. "Everton Staff and a crew from Liverpool council's Streetscene Services team have been treating the roads and footpaths around the stadium since the morning to ensure they are as safe as possible for supporters accessing the stadium. "Anyone attending Goodison Park is advised to prepare for the cold conditions, take care and to allow extra time that may be needed in travelling to the game, including being aware of any advice and weather warnings that may be in place in areas fans are travelling from. " It's the start of the FA Cup third round, which is always one of the best weeks in the season. It marks the point this iconic competition welcomes Premier League and Championship sides.
