Fiorentina's Serie A clash with Inter Milan has been abandoned due to Edoardo Bove collapsing in worrying scenes. The Fiorentina midfielder fell to the floor in the 17th minute at the Franchi Stadium in Florence on Sunday. Visibly upset and concerned players from from both teams flocked to the youngster as they beckoned for medics to help the midfielder. Medics then rushed to his aide, with the 22-year-old eventually leaving the pitcher on a stretcher. His teammate Andrea Colpani was one of a few players seen in tears as the player was tended too. An ambulance was then waiting by the corner flag to transport Bove to the hospital. It has since been reported that the midfielder is 'breathing on his own' and has regained consciousness. The match will now be played at a future date. A statement from Serie A read: "The match will not resume and is postponed to a date to be determined. "With the game interrupted, Bove collapsed to the ground and the situation immediately appeared very serious. "An ambulance took the player away, we await news. " Journalist Gabriele Marcotti posted on X about the news: "Awful scenes in Florence. Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch, untouched. Paramedics have taken him away. " According to Sky Italia, Fiorentina medic Dr. Luca Pengue performed cardiac massage on Bove. Many fans have since taken to social media to wish the player well, including the Serie A account, who posted: "Forza Edoardo. We're all with you". Inter meanwhile posted: "We're with you, forza Edoardo! " The club's president then told Sky Sport: "I am here to offer my closeness on behalf of Inter and the entire football world, to the boy's family and to Fiorentina. "Suspension? It was a spontaneous choice by everyone, we are a community, it is normal to make a decision in this sense. "All the players, both theirs and ours, and the referee, were emotionally involved, it was a spontaneous decision for an event that we hope is not very serious. " Bove joined Fiorentina on loan this summer from Roma, having emerged through their youth academy. Former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was amongst those worried, having moved to the Italian side in August. He simply posted: "God please. " © 2024 talk SPORT Limited
