England captain Harry Kane has taken a significant step forward in his recovery from a hamstring injury. The Bayern Munich striker has been seen participating in parts of the club's training sessions as he works his way back from injury. The star striker sustained a minor muscle fibre tear in his right thigh during Bayern’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund last month, leading to concerns he wouldn’t play again until 2025. However, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany offered a glimmer of hope last week, with Kane potentially returning before the winter break. Kompany suggested Kane might be fit in time for their final Bundesliga match before the winter break, a clash with RB Leipzig on Friday. "He's doing well. He was touch-and-go for this game. So hopefully he'll be there for the next game, " Kompany said after Bayern's 2-1 defeat to Mainz. “Harry Kane and Alphonso Davies were able to complete parts of team training on Monday for the first time since their respective injuries, ” the club stated on their official website. Kane suffered a hamstring strain against Dortmund, while Davies sustained a similar injury in his left hamstring during the match against Heidenheim. Bayern’s injury struggles have been mounting, with goalkeeper Manuel Neuer also sidelined. The team suffered their first Bundesliga defeat of the season at Mainz on Saturday, narrowing their lead at the top of the table to just four points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen. In addition to Kane’s progress, Bayern confirmed more encouraging signs on the injury front. Kingsley Coman (hamstring) and Serge Gnabry (knee) completed a running session on Monday as they advance toward full training. “Both forwards have now taken the next step towards a return to team training, ” the club noted in their latest fitness update. Kane has netted 14 goals and assisted 5 more in 12 games in the German top-flight this season. His last appearance came in the Bundesliga clash with Borussia Dortmund, which ended in a 1-1 draw as Kane came off injured. © 2024 talk SPORT Limited
