Fantastic reaction stop, that. #bbcefl, Whats App 03301231826, text 81111 (UK only, standard rates apply) Anon: Very disappointed with City so far this season. Fair enough, we lost Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene, and Liam Delap and Tyler Morton's loans ended. But we've replaced them with players who try hard enough but just aren't the right quality, thrown together by a manager with no experience of this league. It's going to be a long season. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Ivor Pandur's heat-map would be interesting this evening. I suspect the City keeper's hot-spot would be six yards outside his penalty area. Chris Bedia almost gets a long leg and big toe to a ball over the top of the Blades defence but it skids through to Michael Cooper. Blades very quiet at the start of this half. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Fin Burns gifts possession to Kieffer Moore but instead of playing Jes Rak-Sakyi down the right he tries a 50-yard thunderbolt which skids well wide of the goal of the backtracking Ivor Pandur. It IS still only 1-0, even if it doesn't necessarily feel like it. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Very quiet in the stands at the MKM since the restart. They are looking for a spark. The players are too, mind. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Liam Millar, fresh from international duty with Canada, and Cody Drameh have been introduced by Tim Walter for this second period. Abu Kamara and Ryan Giles are the ones to make way. Hull's left flank has a new look entirely. What do you make of that City fans? Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Rob Staton BBC Radio Sheffield Tim Walter is keen to get the ball back and get it moving again. It's a big half for the Hull manager. There were a few grumbles and boos at half-time. Chris Wilder has a word with his right-hand man Alan Knill, who has a coffee in hand. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United We are back under way at the MKM Stadium. A big 45 minutes for Hull and Tim Walter, it feels. Sheffield United are eyeing-up a fourth straight away win at Hull. All kick-offs 15: 00 BST unless stated As if this evening wasn't enough, would you just take a look at these? The fixture computer is clearly blessing us to make up for the free weekend last week. Oh, and of course, as if there were any doubt, we will be right here to bring you all the action across the next 48 hours. Saturday Leeds v Burnley (12: 30 BST) Millwall v Luton (12: 30 BST) Oxford United v Stoke (12: 30 BST) Blackburn v Bristol City Derby v Cardiff Middlesbrough v Preston Plymouth v Sunderland Sheffield Wednesday v QPR Swansea v Norwich Watford v Coventry Sunday Portsmouth v West Brom HT: Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Hull may well find themselves even closer to the bottom three by the end of the weekend, unless they can find a goal in the second half. But as I said, it's early days. HT: Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United I know it's stupidly early in the season and teams are dropping or rising 10 places at a time. .. but things are looking pretty decent for Sheffield United as it stands. .. and that's with a two-point EFL deduction, don't forget! HT: Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Peter Swan Former Hull City player on BBC Radio Humberside You look at Kieffer Moore when the ball's come up to him for Sheffield United: he's been strong, he's held the ball up, he's brought other players into play. Hull have lacked that in attack. HT: Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Rob Kozluk Ex-Sheffield United defender on BBC Radio Sheffield If you thought Hull took risks in the first half, they're probably going to have to take more in the second. Sheffield United are going to have chances. It's about capitalising on them. The hardest finishes are the ones when you've got time to think and things running through your head. Not for Gus Hamer. It was a great strike. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Gus Hamer's quite brilliant angled finish on the break is the difference at the break. Hull played a massive part in their own downfall as Mo Belloumi was caught in possession from his own corner, allowing the Blades a three-on-one break with Callum O'Hare eventually releasing Hamer like Pele to Carlos Alberto all those years ago. It might have been worse for Hull, but Abdulkadir Omur did thunder in a free-kick at the other end which Michael Cooper helped over the bar. Good EFL fare, this. I'd watch the second half even if I didn't have to, to be honest. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Blades are deliberately leaving two on two up from every Hull set piece, and somehow they almost always end up looking like they will come away with it. You feel Hull have to wise up to that in the second half. Fin Burns picks up a yellow in added time for a pretty ugly challenge on Ollie Arblaster. Could have been nasty, that. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Peter Swan Former Hull City player on BBC Radio Humberside It's as if Hull have been working on getting out from the back and they've not worked on the movement in the final third. It just seems to stop there. It's as if Hull don't want to do it. They're not fully committed to it. When they do commit, they've all got to be on the same page. There might be some boos at half-time. It's not that they're not working hard, it's just a lack of quality. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Don't really want the half to end, to be honest, but I bet these players do. They have run their socks off. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Abu Kamara is apparently only six feet tall but when he's in full flow he's got a bit of Usain Bolt about him. If we're looking for City positives, he's looked lively every time he's had the ball at his feet down the left on his debut. He spent last season in League One with Portsmouth on loan but looks at home at this level already. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Mike White BBC Radio Humberside sports editor There's a restless murmur going around the MKM Stadium. It's not anticipation, it's more a sense of dread. The home fans on the edge of their seats, not sure what's going to happen. City have had the third-fewest shots of any team in the Championship this season, with just over three per game. Hull City 0-1 Sheffield United Kieffer Moore had 15 yards of space behind Alfie Jones when Jes Rak-Sakyi won the ball back for Blades in his own final third but Alfie Gilchrist didn't look up and ran down an alley rather than trying the first time pass which would have sent the Wales talisman through. He's clearly not happy. His hairband is askew. Sheffield United have won three league games this season, as many as they did in the whole of last season in the Premier League Unbeaten Sheffield United continued their encouraging start to the season as they scored twice on the counter-attack to consign winless Hull City to a second successive Championship defeat. The Blades took the lead when Callum O'Hare pinched the ball from Tigers debutant Mohamed Belloumi 30 yards from his own goal and was able to progress unchecked before teeing up Gus Hamer to confidently fire into the bottom corner. Two United substitutes combined for the second after the break when the away side cleared a corner up past the halfway line and Andre Brooks backheeled the ball to the marauding Sam Mc Callum to slam home. Marvin Mehlem had a great chance to pull one back for the hosts but sent a free header thundering against the crossbar from six yards out. That was close as Tim Walter's men came to getting back into the game though, despite dominating possession and winning 16 corners. They remain without victory in their six league and cup matches this campaign. However, with their third victory from five games the Blades have now won as many league matches this season as they managed in the whole of 2023-24 when they finished bottom of the Premier League. Chris Wilder's resurgent side have now scored in the first 15 minutes in four of those five Championship matches and climbed to third in the early-season table despite a two-point deduction. With the box loaded, Hull worked a corner short down their left and played it back to last man Belloumi but O'Hare easily stole possession and within seconds the ball was in their net through Hamer's third goal of the season. Abdus Omur's well-struck free-kick forced Blades goalkeeper Michael Cooper into a smart stop before the break. However, it was the visitors who looked more likely to get the second goal, more than once passing up decent opportunities on the counter, with Hull guilty of over-playing in dangerous areas. Vini Souza's close-range shot was well kept out by Ivor Pandur in the City goal after the break but there was nothing the Croatian could do to stop the Blades doubling their lead. Once again it came from a Tigers corner. The ball was initially cleared up as far as substitute Rhian Brewster near the halfway line on the right and his diagonal ball was kept in by Kieffer Moore, who easily shoulder-barged Liam Millar off it. The Welshman linked up with Brooks who cutely set up Mc Callum for his first goal for the club. German midfielder Mehlem should have got the home side on the scoreboard from Lewie Coyle's cross but could not get his header on target and they remain on just two goals for the season. The Tigers travel to Stoke next Friday, while the Blades host Derby a week on Saturday. Hull City boss Tim Walter told BBC Radio Humberside: "That's football and it's human that you make mistakes. "We played a good, courageous game. We were very brave and kept going until the end. I'm proud of my boys. "The team was more fluid and more creative but we just didn't have the finishing touch. We had 20 or 30 crosses but they weren't good. "You can only learn from mistakes. I told the boys that they have to stay courageous. If we change then we can't improve. "I'll stick with this approach 100%. That is how I have been successful. I'm very convinced of my game and my boys. " Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I'm delighted with it but I didn't think it was a great performance. "We'll play better and we have played better this season. When they gave us so many chances to counter and add to our lead in the first half we didn't make the most of it. "The shape of the team was good at the end. We never really gave them any clear opportunities and I thought our two centre halves were outstanding. "Love a Friday night away win. We can get our head on the pillow tonight and enjoy our weekend.
