Kieran Mc Kenna's side have already made a statement of intent in the January window as they look to survive relegation in their first season back in the top flight. The club completed a deal to sign former Everton star Ben Godfrey on loan from Atalanta last week. Meanwhile highly-rated winger Jaden Philogene arrived at Portman Road from Aston Villa in a £21million deal on Wednesday just six months after he returned to his boyhood club. Now the Tractor Boys could be set to add some experience to their midfield ranks as they are said to be pursuing a deal to sign two-time Premier League winner Nemanja Matic from Lyon. Matic has made 13 Ligue 1 appearances for Les Gones this season as Pierre Sage's side look to secure a Champions League place. After emerging at Slovakian side Kosice, Matic went on to join Chelsea in 2009 during Carlo Ancelotti's reign at the club. In his maiden season at Stamford Bridge Matic struggled for first-team opportunities in the Blues' stacked midfield and made just two Premier League appearances, missing out on a winner's medal as the club stormed to the league title. Matic spent the following season on loan at feeder club Vitesse before spending four years in the Portuguese top flight with Benfica where he was named the league's Player of the Year in 2013. The following season he returned to the Blues, and went on to make more than a 150 appearances in all competitions, twice winning the Premier League. After leaving Chelsea for a second time Matic was reunited with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United in a deal worth a reported £40million. Since departing Old Trafford in 2022 the former Serbia international turned out for Roma and Rennes before joining Lyon.
