The 38-year-old is a free agent after leaving Leicester City at the end of last season. A number of clubs including the likes of Napoli, Celtic and Everton have all shown interest in the former England international but he has been convinced by Cremonese's ambitious project in Italy's top flight. They are second in the table after just two games having started with a surprise win over AC Milan and 3-2 victory over Sassuolo on Friday. The Dutchman began his glittering playing career at Feyenoord, and was appointed head coach of the club in February after first stepping into the dugout with fellow Dutch side Heerenveen. Upon Van Persie's arrival Feyenoord had won just one of their last five league games as Danish boss Brian Priske struggled to live up to Arne Slot at the De Kuip. After Van Persie was named his successor, the club enjoyed a strong end to the campaign, finishing third and securing a place in the Champions League qualifying round.
