NFL NFL Week 8 Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson has four sacks in seven games this season. He totaled 17. 5 last season. Sam Greene / The Enquirer via Imagn Images A single trade is unlikely to turn the Dallas Cowboys’ season around. There are too many defensive issues at all three levels for one player to be the answer. But if Jerry Jones is asked questions about the Nov. 4 trade deadline, he’s going to respond. That was the case after the Cowboys’ ugly 44-24 loss Sunday in Denver. It continued on his weekly Tuesday morning radio interview. Advertisement The Cowboys owner and general manager was specifically asked about reports connecting Dallas to standout pass rushers Maxx Crosby and Trey Hendrickson. “There hasn’t been anything close to a deal, ” Jones said on 105. 3 The Fan. “We’re looking at all phases of our roster. … I don’t know if we will or not (make a trade). ” Jones said “all options are there” regarding improving the roster, but added: “I can tell you this right now, there is not a trade in my mind, the beginning and end of one, as we sit here and talk … that I would do. ” He also provided a signature Jones-type response when asked about the possibility of the Cowboys trading for a linebacker. “Not necessarily, ” he said. “Not at all. But possibly so. Now, how about that for an answer? ” Some help is on the way. De Marvion Overshown, the Cowboys’ top linebacker, returned to practice last week from last year’s season-ending knee injury. He’s expected to make his first game appearance of the season Nov. 17 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Dallas was without three starters in its secondary Sunday, missing cornerback Trevon Diggs and safeties Donovan Wilson and Malik Hooker. Diggs has missed the last two games because of a concussion he suffered at home and a knee injury. Jones clarified Tuesday that Diggs’ current knee injury is new. It is not related to last year’s season-ending knee injury that caused him to work off to the side throughout training camp. Diggs was added to injured reserve last week, meaning he’s out for at least four games. Jones said, “I don’t see that today at all, ” when asked if he thinks Diggs has played his last game for the Cowboys. Jones added: “He’s got to get well, and he hasn’t been. ” Former Cowboys defensive end Micah Parsons, who is close friends with Diggs, ripped the Cowboys on Sunday night in an interview with Yahoo Sports over how the team handled Diggs’ previous knee injury. Advertisement “Honestly, I feel like they f–––ed my dog over, you know what I mean? ” Parsons said in the interview. “He’s coming off a catastrophic knee injury and I just didn’t think they did right by him. He didn’t participate all camp and he’s going out there playing Week 1 and 2. I just don’t think you do that to a player like that. ” Jones was asked Tuesday about Parsons being critical of how the Cowboys handled Diggs’ previous knee injury and if they rushed him back too soon. Jones responded with his shortest answer of the interview. “No, ” he said. “No. Not at all. ” Spot the pattern.
