NFL Micah Parsons Traded The Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones might have botched contract negotiations with edge rusher Micah Parsons, but at least Jones knows his defense may be hurting because of it. In an appearance on 105. 3 The Fan on Friday, Jones said the ejection of Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott leveled the playing field against the reigning Super Bowl champs. Advertisement Carter was ejected before the first play of the Eagles’ 24-20 win in Dallas last week. The NFL announced Carter’s punishment to be a one-game suspension, but because he was ejected before a single play from scrimmage, the league is considering the suspension to have been served. “I liked to have dropped my teeth when I started seeing him walk off because he’s such a fabulous football player, ” Jones said on his radio interview. “I said, ‘Well, I guess the man upstairs is evening it up. We don’t have Micah (Parsons); they’re letting us (not) have him. ’ ” In a months-long contract standoff over the summer, Jones refused to engage with Parsons’ agent, David Mulugheta, after claiming he and the 26-year-old star had already reached an agreement at a prior meeting. Parsons requested a trade and was eventually dealt to the Green Bay Packers while the Cowboys acquired Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark and first-round draft picks in 2026 and 2027. Parsons signed a blockbuster deal with the Packers worth $188 million over four years, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Despite playing limited snaps in his first two games with the Packers, his impact is undeniable on what has been a lights-out defense for Green Bay (2-0). Parsons contributed a half-sack to the Packers’ 27-18 dismantling of Washington on Thursday night, in which Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels saw one of the most disjointed performances of his professional career. When Parsons joined Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” crew for a postgame interview, Green Bay fans who stuck around for the nightcap chanted “Thank you, Jerry, ” digging at Jones’ move to let his star player go. Jones said he heard the chants and wasn’t surprised. "Thank You Jerry! Advertisement “I knew this was coming almost the day I walked into training camp. I knew that if I got to make this trade, this would be coming. ” Jones also reiterated his point that the trade was “the best way to maximize our chance to get a Super Bowl for Dak (Prescott). ” “We’re going to be getting players in the top 30 (draft picks), ” Jones said. “We’ve got two years of getting Green Bay’s top 30 player. And that should do some damage for us. “Everybody’s looking for the guy that could absolutely singly make the defense, ” Jones added. “Everybody wants that guy. Now, we had him for four years, and you see what we did for four years. So, my point is, one guy doesn’t do it. ” “Now, the closest thing there is, for one guy to make that much difference, is a quarterback. When you start going from there, then, man, you’ve got to really look at allocating $100 million, $200 million. And allocating that over many players and positions. That’s exactly what I did. ” The Cowboys face the New York Giants at 1 p. m. (ET) Sunday at AT&T Stadium. In two weeks, though, the team will welcome Parsons and his new Green Bay Packers squad for a highly anticipated reunion. (Photo of Jerry Jones: Emilee Chinn / Getty Images) Spot the pattern.
