UEFA Champions League All competitions This will be the first meeting between Kairat and Club Brugge – indeed, it will be the first major European match ever played between sides from Kazakhstan and Belgium. Only one non-qualifying European fixture has ever been played between teams from Kazakhstan and Belgium, with Tobol Kostanay beating K. Sint-Truidense VV 3-0 over two legs in the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2003 (2-0 away, 1-0 at home). Kairat are still looking for their first victory in major European competition, drawing three and losing nine of their 12 matches to date. All 25 of their European wins to date have come in qualifying matches. Club Brugge haven’t won any of their last five games in the UEFA Champions League (D1 L4), and could equal their longest winless run within a single European Cup/Champions League campaign (6 games in both 2016-17 and 2019-20). Kairat are winless in their six home matches in major European competition (D2 L4), while failing to score in all three in the UEFA Champions League (D1 L2). They’re one of only two sides, along with Ajax, who haven’t scored in a home match in the competition in 2025-26. Club Brugge are on a four-game losing run away from home in the UEFA Champions League – only once have they lost five in a row in the competition (since 1992-93), suffering five away defeats between November 2005 and October 2018. Hans Vanaken – who is the oldest outfielder to appear for Club Brugge in the competitions this term (33) - leads all Club Brugge players in the 2025-26 UEFA Champions League for chances created (14), possession won (29) and dribbles completed (8). Based on the x G of shots on target faced (excluding own goals), Kairat’s Temirlan Anarbekov has prevented more goals than any other goalkeeper in the UEFA Champions League this season (+5. 9 – six conceded from 11. 9 x G on target). Carlos Forbs has been directly involved in four goals in the UEFA Champions League this season (2 goals, 2 assists); the joint-most by a Club Brugge player in a single edition, along with Ferran Jutglà in 2022-23 (4). Egor Sorokin has made 60 line-breaking passes in the UEFA Champions League this season, at least twice as many as any other Kairat player (30, Aleksandr Martynovich). Copyright © 2026 BBC.
