"We spoke about needing to get a second goal and the need of this. Portsmouth press in a very aggressive way, especially on the counter. "We're disappointed, the second half wasn't good, the goal was conceded on the counter. "We had some late chances but we need to accept it wasn't at the level we expected. "Emotionally, the games can shift quickly, I think the turnovers affected our confidence but we need to be more resilient. " FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Great result for Pompey away from home against a good team. Could have nicked the win but more than happy with draw. Game of two halves - Leicester better first half. Pompey going for it second half. Pompey playing with confidence. (Bishop needs to up his game). Rob, Wokingham Wahoo. Great away point for us. Much improved second half performance and could have won it. A bonus point to keep ourselves in the middle of the league. Still think we need 50 points to stay up and everything else will be wonderful. All that money Leicester have spent, just goes to show yet again it’s all about desire and dedication. Ying, Chichester Great second half for Pompey. More than happy with the point and could of even nicked it. Got to go into the midweek game with the same second half attitude. Pete, Sandhurst Pompey starting to look a proper Championship club. Hard game this evening and maybe should have taken all three points in the second half. Great fans as always. Play up Pompey. Dave, Portsmouth Pompey fans have every right to be impressed with how their side acquitted themselves in that second period. FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Portsmouth Here's some more from Portsmouth boss John Mousinho's interview with BBC Radio Solent immediately after the match: "There was a big threat from them with the substitutions, players like Patson Daka who have a lot of quality, but I was really pleased that we stayed on the front foot. "John Swift has been one of those who has grown into the season, we want to play him higher up as he can score goals. "He came into the game more in the second half, I thought it was a really good goal. "It was one of those, Conor Chaplin put in a good shift but we wanted to get Mark Kosznovszky on to give us those legs. "Florian Bianchini as the second change, we fancied he'd get a chance and almost scored. " FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Portsmouth Portsmouth manager John Mousinho speaking to BBC Radio Solent after his side's 1-1 draw with Leicester: "It feels like we could have had all three points, I thought we had the better chances to win it. "You come to the King Power and take the point. I'm really happy with the performance, I think we need to be more ruthless going forward. "We could have had more confidence and belief in ourselves. With their goal no one really makes a decision, we didn't get turned over by their brilliant transitions, we got undone by small things like not tracking the runner. "My message at half-time was let's not get done by those silly mistakes and we did that. "In the second half we were on the front foot and were confident. " FT Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth This is how the Championship looks at the end of the 10th round of matches. Free-scoring and unbeaten Coventry are the team to catch, while Sheffield Wednesday, beset by numerous issues off the pitch, have dropped to the bottom. Leicester's point against Pompey moved them up to fourth but they're now four points off the top two after a fifth draw of the season. FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth If Faes, Vestergaard and Thomas could improve the quality and accuracy of their passing and cut down on the unnecessary back-passing our defensive shape would be much stronger. We need to stop going to ground so easily when under real pressure; Thomas this week and Faes three weeks ago are examples. Graeme, Leicester I don’t understand why many people feel Leicester are one of the favourites to go up, they play a lot of negative football and do not have a single striker that knows where the net is. Awful team going forward. JB, Leicester FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Matt Piper Former Foxes winger on BBC Radio Leicester It was a really poor performance in that second half, I thought. I can't give this team any excuses. They came off the last international break looking lethargic. We saw some really good things in the first half, we can't take that away from them, but the drop-off was really poor. If you hold ambition to get back into the Premier League, with that team we saw on paper it's a really disappointing result. FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Great point on the road, well played Pompey Michael, Portsmouth Lack of a striker. Lack of money. Nineteen shots. .. one goal. Says everything. Darryl, Melton Mowbray Contrasting reactions there. .. FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Guy Whittingham Former Portsmouth manager on BBC Radio Solent They came out in the second half with full belief. They found a way to stay in the game and took the game to Leicester. Bursik made some good saves in that first half to give them a good chance. They're showing some resilience. FT: Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth This result means that from a combined 29 matches the three teams relegated from the Premier League last season have won just nine times. This same weekend last season the three relegated teams had 15 victories from 30 games. A very different feel to the Championship this time around. Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth John Swift's fine goal gives Portsmouth a deserved point. A game of two halves in many respects. The home side had much the better of the opening 45 minutes and led at the break through Aaron Ramsey's goal on his home debut. However, Pompey were sharper in the second half and Swift's well-taken goal was no more than they merited. Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth GREAT late chance for the home side! Hamza Choudhury swings in a quality ball to the back post where Luke Thomas is rushing in but his effort flies across goal and wide. Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Nearly a very unorthodox finish from Bobby Decordova-Reid from Jordan Ayew's cross. Ayew twists and turns out on the Leicester left but his cross is behind Decordova-Reid who manages to direct an effort on goal with the back of his head. Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth There will be a minimum of SEVEN minutes of time added on at the end of this. .. Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Andre Dozzell is booked for pulling Abdul Fatawu back on the halfway line. The Pompey man will take that. Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth Matt Piper Former Foxes winger on BBC Radio Leicester Winks has hit the scoreboard there, it's a really poor finish. At this stage it seems like it's not going to be Leicester's night. Leicester 1-1 Portsmouth That sums up Leicester's second half showing. They work a decent opening for Harry Winks at the edge of the area but the former England man scoops his effort high into the night sky. Portsmouth-born John Swift joined his hometown club this summer from West Brom Leicester City's stuttering form in the Championship continued as they were held at home by Portsmouth. Things looked good when on-loan midfielder Aaron Ramsey put them ahead with his first Foxes goal in a positive first-half showing. But they were pegged back by John Swift's first goal for Pompey just before the hour as the visitors were much improved after the break. Leicester, although unbeaten in eight games, have now drawn five of their last six and this result dropped them one place from third at the start of the day to fourth. They have only lost one of their 10 games since relegation from the Premier League, but have not hit their straps in the way Enzo Maresca's side did two years ago on their way to promotion - with 10 points fewer than at this stage in 2023. The visitors have now claimed five points from their last three games as they sit 14th and it could have been more but for a fine save from Jakub Stolarczyk to deny substitute Florian Bianchini. Goals have been a real problem for the Foxes as they struggle to fill the void left by Jamie Vardy's departure. Abdul Fatawu is their top scorer with three, while Patson Daka is yet to get off the mark and Jordan Ayew has one. So Marti Cifuentes decided to hand a first start to on-loan Argentine forward Julian Carranza. But it was midfielder Ramsey, brought back into the team for just his second start since signing from Burnley, who provided the goal power as he athletically volleyed in from six yards after fine wing play from Fatawu. The 22-year-old is still working his way back from a serious knee injury sustained in February 2024 and showed what he was capable of with a strong run and shot from midfield that was well saved by Joe Bursik, who then made another good stop to keep out Fatawu's curler as the home side tried to press home their advantage. Pompey were second best in the first period, although they had been unlucky not to equalise when Yang Min-hyeok struck the crossbar with a terrific volley in what was their only attempt. But the South Korea teenager, on loan from Tottenham, played a pivotal role as they did draw level, leading the counter-attack before teeing up Swift, who drilled home. Having joined in the summer from West Bromwich Albion, it was a sweet moment for the 30-year-old as he grabbed his first goal for his hometown club. The visitors showed more assurance in the second period and it is now only one defeat in five away games this term for John Mousinho's side as they demonstrate growing maturity in their second season back in the second tier. But they nearly returned south with nothing as deep into seven minutes of stoppage time, left-back Luke Thomas steered an effort across the face of goal as the Foxes lack of that goal poacher reared its head with nobody in the six-yard box to convert. Leicester City head coach Marti Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester: "We had a very good first half with a lot of good moments, a lot of good sequences of play. "We were very dominant, we had something like 12 shots and conceded only one. "We spoke at half-time about the need of scoring one or two more goals because it doesn't matter how dominant you are in the Championship, the games can shift quick. "The second half was not good. We tried to play too much centrally, we had some turnovers, we conceded some counter attacks and the goal was exactly like this. "We had this attitude that I like to chase until the end and we had these couple of good chances but we need to accept that the second half was not at the level we expected. " Portsmouth manager John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent: "It feels like we could have had all three points, I thought we had the better chances to win it. "You come to the King Power and take the point. I'm really happy with the performance, I think we need to be more ruthless going forward. "We could have had more confidence and belief in ourselves. "My message at half-time was let's not get done by those silly mistakes and we did that. In the second half we were on the front foot and were confident. "John Swift has been one of those who has grown into the season, we want to play him higher up as he can score goals. "He came into the game more in the second half, I thought it was a really good goal.
