Second-placed Lincoln beat Burton in League One thanks to Moylan double Imps go three points behind leaders Cardiff Burton remain 19th and one point above drop zone Have your say using the yellow Get Involved button Kate Holloway Lincoln 0-0 Burton Brewers keeper Brad Collins would have had his heart in his mouth as he falls to ground during a corner delivery. Lincoln have been difficult customers when it comes to set-pieces this season, not a great time to see your keeper low to the floor, but it is not be this time as the whistle blows for a foul in the box. Lincoln 0-0 Burton Lee Beevers Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire It's very scrappy, no one has grasped a hold of the game just yet. It's kind of becoming we have it, you have it, we have it, you have it, I'm not sure if the conditions have helped that situation. Lincoln 0-0 Burton Alex Hoad BBC Sport at The LNER Stadium The persistent rain has abated a bit in the past few minutes, which means the most persistent thing remaining is the beat of the Imps fans' drum in the north west corner of the ground. There are around 9, 000 here tonight with fans taking advantage of a special ticket off to pack the house infront of a TV audience. The game hasn't sprung to life yet but the fans don't seem to care. Lincoln 0-0 Burton Burton think they've won themselves a penalty after Imps defender Sonny Bradley pulls down Kain Adom by his collar. It puts Adom off-balance and his arms are up before he's even hit the ground. The referee though waves away those appeals just as fast. Lincoln 0-0 Burton Freddie Draper looks like he's in as Udoka Godwin-Malife hits the deck and he drives on forward. The Brewers keeper is off his line to try and cover but there's no real concern. The whistle blows and Draper is punished for a push on the Burton man he's left in his wake. Lincoln 0-0 Burton A long ball from the Imps keeper looks like it could pay off as the hosts work it into the box. But alas, Burton are able to see it out of play for a goal kick pretty easily. There's a very upbeat energy at the LNER despite the unruly drizzle descending upon them. That energy hasn't quite made the pitch just yet though. Lincoln 0-0 Burton Lincoln's Conor Mc Grandles is still waiting for his first goal of the season and he's looking to do it in some style with a powered effort from distance. It is, however, heading into the stands. Nice ambition, lacking in execution. Lincoln 0-0 Burton Lee Beevers Former Lincoln City defender on BBC Radio Lincolnshire It looked as though it came as a surprise to Reeco Hackett. It was a bit of a heavy touch, I think he's gone to try and dink it over the keeper but he's got his angles wrong and it hit the side netting. The touch invited the keeper to come out and put him under pressure. It's very open and very scrappy early on. Lincoln 0-0 Burton Reeco Hackett is spotted unmarked in the box and is picked out with a diagonal pass. It offers up a scrumptious opportunity for the Imps winger but he gets his strike wrong, sending it off-target to whack the wrong side of the net. Interesting start to this. Lincoln 0-0 Burton The hosts pick up an early corner and Lincoln keeper George Wickens doesn't deal with it well. It's rather windy and he seems to misjudge his punch to see the ball land loose in the box. Luckily for him though, no Burton players able to pounce and his team-mate gets it cleared away to dispel the danger. Lincoln v Burton (20: 00 GMT) Lincoln v Burton (20: 00 GMT) Midfielder George Evans doesn't make the trip for Burton Albion to force their only change. Julian Larsson steps into the starting XI as winger Tomas Kalinauskas makes the squad for the first time since returning from his loan deal with Swedish side Kalmar. Last week's goal scorer JJ Mc Kiernan also isn't named in the squad, having only made his return from injury in the game against Huddersfield on the weekend. Lincoln v Burton (20: 00 GMT) You can tell just by looking at the table that Burton's season has been a tough one. Should they lose tonight and Blackpool and Northampton play to a stalemate on Saturday, it'll be into the bottom four they go. But while points tell one story, a handful of results tell another. Last time out the Brewers dismantled promotion hopefuls Huddersfield, leading to the exit of then-Terriers boss Lee Grant, and that's not the only giant slaying they've done this season. They've also scalped victories over Bolton Wanderers, Bradford City and league leaders Cardiff City. Only Stockport County and today's hosts Lincoln City remain on their top six hit list. Can David slay a fifth Goliath and go back-to-back to boot? Lincoln v Burton (20: 00 GMT) Lincoln have several players making their way back to recovery but none in time for tonight's affair. Imps boss Michael Skubala posts an unchanged starting XI, with new boy Alfie Lloyd among the substitutes. Lincoln v Burton (20: 00 GMT) This video can not be played Michael Skubala and Rob Street preview the visit of Burton Albion. There was a common theme among the three games Lincoln and Burton played against each other in 2025. The Imps have won both their previous meetings this season with the only goal of the match; a first-half header from Sonny Bradley in the reverse fixture and a last-gasp winner from Ben House to knock the Brewers out of the EFL Cup. But back in February, it was visitors Burton who scored at the death to claim a 1-0 win, with Charlie Webster firing into goal in the 92nd minute. It's a game that has lived on in Lincoln boss Michael Skubala's memory and while the two sides are sitting on very different sides of the table, he's not underestimating the threat the Brewers hold. "They are really tough team to play against, a very dangerous team, " Skubala told BBC Radio Lincolnshire. "I remember last season when they came to our place, it was a tough game and they got the winner. So we've got make sure that doesn't happen again but we'll be ready. We will have a plan to get three points on the day. " League One table Lincoln City boss Michael Skubala may be pointing in an upwards direction in the image above but the Imps won't be moving anywhere today regardless of the result. What they do have though is a chance to get within striking distance of league leaders Cardiff City to pile the pressure on the Bluebirds, who play fellow promotion chasers Stockport County in Saturday's lunchtime kick-off. As for Burton, they will also be looking up and for them, it's potentially even more vital they make the ascent. Three points would given them a tiny bit of breathing space from the bottom four, so they can spend their weekend without worrying glances at the score at Bloomfield Road. Jack Moylan had only scored once in 12 league appearances for the Imps this season before his double Lincoln closed the gap on League One leaders Cardiff to three points with a hard-fought win against struggling Burton at the LNER Stadium. Most of the action in a largely forgettable first half was crammed into 120 seconds as Jack Moylan fizzed a beauty from 25 yards in off the post to put the hosts ahead on 35 minutes, only for Jake Beesley to tuck home a close-range volley two minutes later. Moylan then pounced to score what turned out to be the winner 10 minutes after the break, poking home after Brad Collins had spilled Freddie Draper's shot. The win took the Imps six points clear of third-placed Bradford in the promotion race, with the Bantams facing Huddersfield on Saturday before heading to Lincoln on Tuesday for a potentially huge showdown. The Imps had a chance inside four minutes as the ball broke to Reeco Hackett following a long throw but he could only lash the wrong side of Collins' upright from close range. Both sides saw penalty appeals waved away before Rob Street's attempt to loop a header over Collins after a weak clearance from Udoka Godwin-Malife was clawed away by the keeper. The Imps went ahead when Moylan strode forward and fired in a brilliant swerving shot which flew past Collins and in off the base of his left post. The lead lasted just two minutes as Jack Armer swung in a cross from the left and defender Sonny Bradley allowed the ball to run beyond him where Beesley was lurking to tuck home a first-time effort from barely two yards out. The Brewers finished the first half on top and began the second the brighter until the Imps restored their lead on 55 minutes when Moylan slid the ball to Draper, whose low angled shot was spilled by Collins, with Moylan continuing his run to beat the keeper to the loose ball and poke home. Moylan came close to a hat-trick with a curling free-kick 15 minutes from time though the hosts had a fright when Brewers defender Toby Sibbick flashed a near-post header into the side-netting with three minutes to go.
