Reports emerged this week that Liverpool have offered the 33-year-old a new deal. According to The Athletic, Liverpool made an opening proposal to van Dijk which didn't meet his expectations. Fellow stars Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are also nearing the end of their current deals at Anfield. Slot joked that it was pointless for the journalist to ask such questions when the response is always the same. Slot said: 'Your boss is always telling you you have to check. 'Maybe tell your boss that you always get the same answer so it's a bit boring for the people to listen to the press conference. Slot's response then prompted much laughter as he said: 'I hope I give them better tips than the ones you get. Van Dijk has made 289 appearances for Liverpool since he joined the club in January 2018. The Reds are currently seven points clear at the top of the table as they look to secure their first Premier League title since the 2019-20 season.
