Lyon won the Women's Champions League in 2011, 2012, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022 Eight-time winners Lyon overturned a first-leg deficit to eliminate Wolfsburg and set up a Women's Champions League semi-final with holders Arsenal. Lyon had lost 1-0 in the first leg in Germany, but Lily Yohannes scored early on to make it 1-1 on aggregate, although the hosts could not get another goal in normal time as the game went to extra time. But the French side finally got more goals as Melchie Dumornay, Damaris Egurrola and Tabitha Chawinga scored to seal a 4-0 win on the night and a 4-1 aggregate victory. Wolfsburg won 1-0 in the first leg of the quarter-final tie in Germany last Tuesday, thanks to a deflected goal following Lineth Beerensteyn's 20-yard shot. But Lyon only needed 16 minutes to score in the home second leg with the effort from American midfielder Yohannes going into the net after hitting Janina Minge. Wolfsburg did not have a single shot on or off target in the first half with Lyon goalkeeper Christiane Endler not called into action. Lyon only had one goal for all their first-half dominance and continued to pile on the pressure after the break, with Selma Bacha having a half-volley tipped over by goalkeeper Stina Johannes. Wolfsburg finally created a chance in the 78th minute, when Endler did well to save from Janou Levels at the back post after a brilliant cross from Svenja Huth, but neither side could stop the match going to extra time. Lyon substitute Marie-Antoinette Katoto thought she had given her side the overall lead in the 98th minute but it was ruled out for an earlier offside. However, Dumornay did score shortly afterwards after Johannes failed to get distance on a punch, before Egurrola headed in a third and Chawinga grabbed a fine individual goal to secure a final-four spot. Arsenal will be at home in the first leg of the semi-final on either 25 or 26 April, with the second leg in France a week later. Bayern Munich, who eliminated Manchester United on Wednesday, face Barcelona in the other semi-final after Barca crushed Real Madrid 6-0 at the Nou Camp to seal a 12-2 aggregate win earlier on Thursday.
