Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of his penultimate game as Manchester United’s interim boss against PAOK in the Europa League this Thursday. The Red Devils are set to continue their European campaign, live on talk SPORT, and Van Nistelrooy will be back at Old Trafford.   New manager Ruben Amorim will officially arrive at the club next week, meaning the Dutchman is now into his final few days in his temporary post.   His aim for this clash will be to help United pick up their first win in the competition after three draws from three games so far.   They sit 21st in the League Phase table and victory against Greek side PAOK, who are also winless, will give them a much-needed boost.   United head into this game after making some unwanted history at the weekend.   A 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League meant they had officially made their worst-ever start to a season after 10 games.   They have only won three matches in the top-flight while failing to pick up three points in their first three Europa League games, as mentioned.   Wins against Leicester in the Carabao Cup and Brentford in the league are their only victories in their last 10 outings in all competitions.   Van Nistelrooy has brought some positivity in his short spell so far, but things on the pitch are still looking far from impressive.   A win against PAOK could end up making a big difference in confidence and help provide an injection of joy to the dressing room.   If the poor start continues then heads will still be down, but either way, Amorim is set to have a very tough task on his hands. Van Nistelrooy doesn’t have many options in midfield as Christian Eriksen, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount all remain sidelined.   Mount returned to training this week but won’t be rushed back, leaving Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte as the likely partnership again.   In other positions, Harry Maguire is still expected to miss out and Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia will continue their recovery from injury.   Amad Diallo and Joshua Zirkzee will be eyeing a start with Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund potentially being rested.   For PAOK, ex-United youngster Shola Shoretire should be in the squad while former Premier League players Dejan Lovren, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Jonny Castro could feature too.   This Europa League clash will take place on Thursday, November 7.   Kick-off at Old Trafford is scheduled for 8pm.   talk SPORT will have live coverage of the game presented by Hugh Woozencroft. Commentary will come from Jim Proudfoot and former England Women’s striker Lianne Sanderson.   To tune in to talk SPORT or talk SPORT 2 through the website, click HERE for the live stream.   You can also listen via the talk SPORT app, on DAB digital radio, through your smart speaker and on 1089 or 1053 AM. The game will also be broadcast live on TNT Sports.   United midfielder Manuel Ugarte has been speaking about reuniting with Ruben Amorim once he officially arrives at Old Trafford.   The Uruguayan discussed the type of manager Amorim is and gave some insight into how the rest of the squad has reacted to the appointment.   Ugarte said: "My teammates have asked a lot about him. What surprised them was his age.   “He's also very hungry to win and that's very important. I can tell he'll enjoy it. ” He continued: "I saw that Sporting fans were upset and that's understandable, because the coach is a great coach “It's good for United, we have to take advantage of it and get him to convey his ideas as quickly as possible.   “I think it's going to be a different dynamic and the day-to-day will be similar to Sporting's.   “The league, the country, the football. .. It's a big challenge for him but we all know he has the ability. ” This service is provided on talk SPORT Ltd's Terms of Use in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
