Around eight Premier League teams asked about Gallagher's availability but Atletico were only willing to consider a permanent sale for the player they signed from Chelsea just last summer. United and others were keen on a loan as the 25-year old has been on the bench for the past two games. However, he is understood to be on a substantial wage in the Spanish capital and that with a transfer fee was considered too much to negotiate at this stage. Everton and Crystal Palace had also asked about Gallagher earlier in the summer. United were considering options, with Kobbie Mainoo keen to leave on loan.
