Macaulay Langstaff's 81st-minute winner was just his third goal for Millwall Macaulay Langstaff came off the bench to score a late winner as Millwall beat Bristol City for the second time in a month in the Championship. Camiel Neghli gave the Lions the lead early in the match but Adam Randell levelled the score soon after the break with his first goal for the Robins. Gerhard Struber's side dominated the ball and had many more chances than the hosts, with the Lions scoring from both of their two shots on goal. The reverse fixture at Ashton Gate at the beginning of the month ended with ugly scenes after the final whistle and FA charges handed out to both clubs. With that match ending 1-0 to Millwall, the Lions have completed the double over the Robins for just the second time this century thanks to Langstaff's 81st-minute strike. Millwall boss Alex Neil used all five substitutions available to secure a late win over Bristol City Just as he did against Norwich in the first Championship game of the season, Langstaff came off the bench to score in the final 10 minutes of normal time and secure a 2-1 win for Millwall. The former Notts County striker has had a tough time of it at The Den since joining the club 18 months ago, scoring just once in his first season and netting only three goals in total from 51 league appearances. He came on with his side firmly under the cosh against Bristol City, having had just two shots in the match and the only one on target nestled neatly into the net by Neghli, via a deflection on the line, for his third goal of the season. The Robins will have gone in at half-time wondering how they were behind but levelled almost immediately after the break, as Randell placed the ball beyond Lions keeper Max Crocombe to score his first joining the club from Plymouth Argyle in the summer. Millwall boss Alex Neil utilised all his options from the bench to swing the momentum in his side's favour late in the game, with Ryan Leonard, Langstaff, Danny Mc Namara, Joe Bryan and Thierno Ballo all introduced - and Austria international Ballo making a big impact. The changes meant they switched to a back five at times and showed Millwall's tactical flexibility, as they continue to impress in the Championship. Three of the replacements combined for the winner as Neghli's clever through ball was laid off by Mihailo Ivanovic to Ballo, before the 23-year-old moved it to Mc Namara, whose deflected cross fell to Langstaff to apply the finish beyond Max O'Leary in the Bristol City goal. The Lions were far from their best for much of the night but the result means they end 2025 fifth in the table, with the Robins in eighth place. Adam Randell scored his first goal for the Robins in the defeat at The Den For the second time in less than a month, Bristol City walk away from a match against Millwall empty-handed. Ivanovic's goal was enough to seal the three points for Millwall at Ashton Gate on 6 December but that game was overshadowed by what happened after the full-time whistle, with players and staff involved in a mass brawl which has seen both clubs charged and Harry Cornick handed a three-game ban for violent conduct. Tempers were much calmer at the end of this encounter but Struber will again lament his side's inability to get a result against the Lions, having had almost 60% possession and 14 shots - but just three of those on target. It could have been very different, with the Robins flying out of the blocks after the break and getting the equaliser they deserved. And they might have taken the lead just one minute later, had Sinclair Armstrong's shot sneaked inside the post rather than hitting the side netting, while Max Vyner also headed over from a good position with the score tied. This video can not be played Millwall boss Alex Neil speaking to BBC Radio London: "The game really shifted in our favour when we brought the likes of [Thierno] Ballo on. "It was nice to see Macca [Macaulay Langstaff] get the winning goal. Camiel Neghli, the amount of ground that he covered in the game was incredible. [There were] A lot of good performances in there. "What I can say for the players is they don't give up. They've got a lot about them. "In spells in the second half we were struggling to get out, the fans were starting to get a little bit anxious around us. They wrestled back control of the game and we were on the front foot and managed to go and get the winner. "We never give up, we keep going to the last minute and if you do that, you give yourselves a chance. " This video can not be played Bristol City boss Gerhard Struber told BBC Radio Bristol: "We have to be really critical of ourselves [for] how we defended two times [for Millwall's goals]. "This was not the standard we have to be in the end that [means] we can win away at Millwall. "We controlled many times in this game. The game was exactly in this direction that we want. "We have enough moments for us in transition, in possession so it's really, really difficult to analyse this game.
