By MICHAEL PAVITT Published: 04: 16 AEDT, 5 December 2024 | Updated: 04: 16 AEDT, 5 December 2024 1 View comments Hollywood star Danny De Vito was captured celebrating Wrexham's injury-time winner against Barnsley from a virtual reality venue in Los Angeles. De Vito was joined by Wrexham co-chairman Rob Mc Elhenney, fellow cast members of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and NFL stars from the LA Chargers. They watched along as the League One match was screened live by CBS Sports at one of Cosm's theatres, which has 180 degree domed screens. The screens offered a simulation of the live stadium, as hosts Wrexham clinched an injury-time winner. Footage showed Olly Rathbone putting Wrexham ahead in second half stoppage time with a driven effort from the edge of the penalty area. Rathbone's effort was enough to secure a 1-0 win for Wrexham, who are owned by Hollywood duo Ryan Reynolds and Mc Elhenney. De Vito was also rising off his seat and raising his fists in celebration following the late goal. The 80-year-old was then captured high-fiving fellow supporters in the venue. 'I really wasn't sure what to expect (of Cosm) as I'd only seen a little bit previously, but it's absolutely incredible, ' Mc Elhenney said. '(With me were) a mixture of my friends and family, some co-workers from the various shows and Kaitlin's [Olson] co-workers from her show, and then all the Wrexham fans from the south-west. '(Cosm) is such a great opportunity to experience a game with other people and for the Wrexham fans who can't travel five or six thousand miles. You get to cheer on and commiserate with fellow fans. 'You look around, it's a Tuesday 11. 45am in the morning. Hundreds and thousands have people have showed up for the game. It's so clear that the EFL has its roots now all over the United States, and people want to experience the game with other people. ' Wrexham's victory helped maintain their promotion push, with Phil Parkinson's side lying two points behind League One leaders Wycombe, although they have played a game more. Mc Elhenney described the experience at the Cosm theatre as being 'absolutely incredible' Wrexham are pushing for their third straight promotion and are currently second in League One Footage from inside the LA theatre during Manchester United's win against Fulham went viral Birmingham City are four points behind Wrexham, but have three games in hand. Mail Sport revealed last month that the match was one of a select number of EFL matches which would be shown in the immersive reality venues in the United States. Wrexham's matches against Birmingham City and Huddersfield Town will also be shown in January and March. Sheffield United's Boxing Day match against Burnley will also be shown, along with Coventry City's clash with Leeds United in February. Earlier this season, scenes from inside Cosm Los Angeles caused a stir online when Manchester United 's victory against Fulham was beamed on the big screen. The venue, which describes itself as a 'experiential hub', showed the match on its 87-foot LED screen, in what Cosm described as 'shared reality'. The view was effectively a simulation of being inside Old Trafford, with the crowd at the stadium blending into the wider environment at the theatre. Camera angles switched depending on where the ball was in play, meaning those inside the venue were placed at the front row to watch every kick in luxury. Tickets for the experience could be bought from level one to level three of the 'Cosm dome' - with prices ranging from $66 (£50. 99) to $132 (£101. 98). The most commonly displayed price was $83 (£64. 12). Published by Associated Newspapers Ltd Part of the Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday & Metro Media Group
