With the score level at 1-1 at the Silverlake Stadium, Eastleigh defender Archie Harris, who is on loan from Premier League side Bournemouth, and Scunthorpe's Jean Belehouan collided heavily as they challenged for the ball in the 97th minute. Medical staff raced onto the pitch and an ambulance was called as both players received lengthy treatment. Flags were reportedly raised around them to protect their privacy and both sets of players were sent back to the dressing rooms while medics worked. Shortly after 9. 45pm, the referee confirmed the match would not restart. Eastleigh wrote on X: 'Paramedics are on the pitch and the stadium drops to silence. Our thoughts are with Archie Harris and Jean Belehouan. ' Scunthorpe later confirmed Belehouan was conscious, transferred to a wheelchair and taken off the field before returning to the dressing room for further checks. A National League clash between Eastleigh and Scunthorpe was abandoned in stoppage time after a clash of heads Bournemouth loanee Archie Harris was one of the players involved in the collision on Tuesday night The club said: 'At this stage, JB appears to be responding well to testing. ' Harris, 20, joined Eastleigh on a season-long loan in July and has previously had a spell at Torquay United. The centre back was twice named on Bournemouth's bench in the Premier League last season, although he did not make a first-team appearance. Belehouan, meanwhile, signed for newly-promoted Scunthorpe this summer after a year at Gateshead, having come through Sheffield United's academy earlier in his career. Before the incident, Scunthorpe had taken the lead through Declan Howe in the 83rd minute, only for Harvey Saunders to equalise for Eastleigh in stoppage time. The result was ultimately overshadowed by the distressing scenes, which brought the match to a premature end. Scunthorpe sit fifth in the National League table, with Eastleigh three points further back in eighth after seven matches of the 2025-26 campaign.
