Mail Sport exclusively revealed on Tuesday that Hall, 20, would miss the Carabao Cup final on March 16 after sitting out Newcastle's FA Cup defeat by Brighton on Sunday. He has now seen a specialist to determine the extent of the injury, and it has been decided that surgery is required. Newcastle confirmed the devastating news in a statement on Wednesday morning that read: 'Lewis Hall will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season after sustaining an injury to a bone in his foot. 'Following a scan and advice from a specialist, Lewis will undergo surgery before a period of rehabilitation with the club’s medical team. 'Wishing you all the very best for your surgery and recovery, Lewis. Gordon was shown a straight red card for pushing Brighton's Jan Paul van Hecke in the back of the head on Sunday, and Newcastle have opted not to appeal his dismissal. This means that Eddie Howe will be without his first-choice left side combination for the cup final, with Tino Livramento and Harvey Barnes now expected to step in for Hall and Gordon. They will have the task of trying to contain Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold as Newcastle bid to win their first domestic trophy since 1955. Hall has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Newcastle after being used sparingly last season, with the left back becoming one of Howe's key players. He has made 34 appearances across all competitions and provided five assists. Hall also earned his first two senior England caps in November, and was on course to be named in Thomas Tuchel's first Three Lions squad next week. However, he will now miss out, with Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly seemingly in pole position to get his chance at left back for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia.
