Newcastle won their first major domestic trophy in 70 years on Sunday as they beat Liverpool to lift the Carabao Cup.   The Magpies ended their long drought at Wembley thanks to goals from Dan Burn and Alexander Isak despite a late consolation.   It’s a moment that Eddie Howe will never forget as he and his squad have written their names into the club’s folklore forever.   Arne Slot has missed out on his first piece of silverware as Reds boss, but he will have the Premier League title to aim for now. It's all or nothing now. And that's allowing Newcastle to eye a counter-attack, the first of which has just ended up with the ball rolling out. Alexander Isak comes so close to sealing it for Newcastle, as he turns the ball goalwards from close range. Harvey Barnes nods across to Isak in the box and somehow, Kelleher denies him and the score remains 2-0. That save keeps Liverpool in this game. 62' Joelinton denies Andy Robertson! Robertsen finds space in the box and looks to cross the ball into the danger area, but the Brazilian slides in. He roars yet again, completing a hat-trick of great tackles. He'll need to be focused though, as Liverpool are piling some pressure on now, with wave after wave of attack. We're in for an exciting finish. 59' Liverpool are pushing back now! Nick Pope has superbly denied Curtis Jones who fired first-time as he charged into the penalty area. Jones then waves his arms at the Reds fans, lifting them to try and start a comeback here. Sandro Tonali is now down receiving some treatment. 56' Arne Slot responds with some changes. Curtis Jones and Darwin Nunez come on for Ibrahima Konate and Diogo Jota as we near the hour mark. It looks like Ryan Gravenberch will be playing at centre-back for the rest of this game now Konate is off. That's a real change for Liverpool. .. A brilliant sweeping move is started by Virgil van Dijk as he strides out of the defence and sends Diogo Jota through. Jota cuts on back to Luis Diaz, before Joelinton slides in to intercept and deny the Colombian a shot at goal. But that is what the Reds lacked in the first half, so Arne Slot will be pleased to have seen that attacking play. 46' We're back underway in this final. Liverpool need to massively improve if they want to come back here; they've not threatened at all. Their elimination from the Champions League in midweek could be carrying into this game.
