Striker says City need to get ‘asses going’ after two losses Donnarumma likely to start against United on Sunday Erling Haaland has described Manchester City’s start to the season as “not good enough” and described Sunday’s derby as a “perfect” opportunity to start turning things around. After an impressive opening-day victory at Wolves, City have lost to Tottenham and Brighton to leave them a point behind Manchester United as they prepare for their visit to the Etihad Stadium this weekend. “We’ve lost two games in a row, it’s not good enough, it’s way too bad, ” Haaland told Viaplay. “We need to figure it out, get back to winning ways. We can’t afford to lose games as there’s so many good teams. It’s perfect to turn things around against United. We need to all be on our best, get our asses going, get things going, because it’s not been good enough so far. “Losing’s not cool. It’s annoying you need to use it for something positive. As motivation to do better the next game, and I expect that we are. We need to use the angriness inside us out on the pitch to deliver at our highest level. ” Pep Guardiola has also acknowledged City’s poor start to the campaign, insisting he is not at the club to live on past glories and that if he does not continue to bring success, he will be sacked. “I don’t know what’s going to happen, ” Guardiola said in regards to his future, with his contract at the club ending in June 2027. “I know the results dictate all the positions of the teams and I have to make a good season for that. “I will not stay here when I feel that the club needs a change, but right now I feel I want to do it more than ever after what happened last season and especially now in that moment. I want to be in front of all of the club, to make my shoulders bigger and bigger,  to keep the weight of the situation and with my players, try to do it. I’m not here just because I’ve done in the past. ” “I like to look forward, that’s why we have to grab success because all the time we are thinking about what’s the next, ” Guardiola added. “But I never ever could have expected one decade. Yes, my 10th season here, I’m so proud of that and I want to help the team for years and years, being there again and again. ” Gianluigi Donnarumma, the final piece in Guardiola’s rebuild, joined the club from Paris Saint-Germain for €35m on deadline day and is likely to replace James Trafford in goal on Sunday for what is the first of seven games in 22 days for City. The Italian will bring a change of style from Ederson, who left for Fenerbahce last week. “I will not demand Gigi to do something like he’s uncomfortable, ” said Guardiola. “We are talking about the best players I’ve ever seen in the distribution, in short and long, with Ederson. So we didn’t take Gigi to do what Ederson has done. Gigi has another quality. ” City will be without Omar Marmoush in the coming weeks after the Egypt forward suffered a knee injury during a World Cup qualifier in Burkina Faso on Tuesday. “We have to make the last tests but a few weeks [out], ” Guardiola said. “Before the [next] international break, he’ll be ready”. John Stones is also a doubt for the visit of United with the muscular problem that forced him to miss England’s recent qualifiers. Meanwhile, Rico Lewis has signed a new contract until 2030 with the option for another year. The 20-year-old defender was the subject of interest from Nottingham Forest in the summer but Guardiola was always adamant he would remain at the club.
