Bernardo Silva summed up the reactions of absolutely everybody after being treated to the best view of Erling Haaland's athletic goal against Sparta Prague. The Norwegian ended what has been a relatively quiet spell (by his standards) in the most spectacular fashion as Man City cruised to a 5-0 victory. Haaland scored the second and the fourth of City's goals as they maintained their unbeaten record in the Champions League so far this season. But it was the first of his goals that really had jaws dropping. City had taken the lead early on thanks to Phil Foden's third minute opener, but had not really been able to put the game to bed until the second half. And then came Haaland in the 58th minute. Having received a cross in a dangerous position from Savinho, the forward somehow managed to pull off a remarkable acrobatic backheel strike to find the back of the net. All this he did whilst still turning in mid-air and under pressure from the defender. The Etihad erupted into cheers as the fifty-thousand strong crowd of supporters tried to process the magnificent goal they had just witnessed - with audible gasps heard as the replay played on the big screens. And it was not just Man City fans who were left simply stunned by the mastery of the 24-year-old. Haaland's own teammate and skipper of the night, Silva, had been positioned in the box just a few metres a way, no doubt ready to pounce should the ball not have been put away. But the Portuguese soon realised there would be no danger of that and could only watch in utter awe as the striker did what he does best. As the ball rocketed into the back netting, Silva was seen rooted to the spot, apparently transfixed by what he had just seen. While some of his teammates rushed to celebrate, Silva was seen clasping his hand to his head and standing with the other hand on his hip as he simply admired Haaland's skill. And Silva was not the only one of his teammates who was stunned by the sheer magnificence of the goal. “It was an amazing goal. I was speechless after his shot, ” said City midfielder Matheus Nunes. “When he scored against Borussia Dortmund I was watching it on TV, and now to see it live was amazing. " His praise was echoed by City boss Pep Guardiola who noted that this was not the first time that Haaland has scored an absolutely mind-blowing goal. But he admitted the thing that pleased him most was that his striker was in a good place. "The important thing is he's happy, he's smiling, " he said, "And I know it's not easy for him because they defend in the box, no space, three central defenders with him, two holding fielders close to him, even the wingers close to the holding fielders. "Literally, it's not a space. Every cross, they are hugging him and pushing him, so it's not easy. "But I told him many times, be patient, be positive, because the ball is coming. To score two goals, have two headers, it's really good to score two more. "He has this incredible capacity. He can touch 15 balls, 20 balls, but have seven, eight chances. So, it's unbelievable, this talent that this guy has. And of course, he scored a fantastic goal, quite similar to Dortmund years ago, with an incredible pass from Joao Cancelo. "I don't know which one is more difficult - for me, both. So, yeah, really good. " This service is provided on talk SPORT Ltd's Terms of Use in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
