FT: Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Portsmouth manager John Mousinho speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we started the second-half really poorly. Lack of quality in terms of that little detail and it put us on the back foot. "All the things you speak about in terms how you start a game, how you start a half, we didn't do very well in the second-half. "That was the main frustration. I didn't think that Sheffield Wednesday had to do a huge amount to get back in the game. "And we gifted them that first goal just by not taking care of the small details. "The second goal, very similar. We had them pinned in the left-hand corner and just switched off for half a second and let them out. "Sheffield Wednesday had that quality to put the ball in the back of the net. " On not controlling the game, Mousinho said: "It's really difficult at this level to have control of games as much as we did last season and that's fine, it's just about those small moments. " FT: Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Josh Windass and Michael Smith got the goals for Sheffield Wednesday and have been talking to Sky Sports. Smith got what proved to be the winner against his former club. He said: "I was shattered so there was no way I was taking a touch, I was always just hitting it. "I wish I could say I've hit a ball like that before but no, it was special. "We know how tough this league is so to come here and win is great and we need to back it up next week. " Windass added: "It's a massive result - we did the same at Coventry a couple of weeks ago when coming from behind and we've done it again. "We came in with a plan but they were the better team in the first-half but the manager just said we needed to be braver and play our football - we came here to win tonight and we did. " FT: Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Just look at what Michael Smith's worldie has done for Sheffield Wednesday's league position. FT: Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Lee Bullen Former Sheffield Wednesday captain on BBC Radio Sheffield Barry Bannan was a dictator for Sheffield Wednesday in that second-half. He pulled the strings, pinged balls left, right and centre. They created some panic in the Portsmouth defence, suddenly they were clearing hurriedly. This was a tricky game because it's one of the few away games where we'd probably be favourites. FT: Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Guy Whittingham Former Portsmouth manager on BBC Radio Solent Wednesday probably deserved to win because they took their chances. I wouldn't say Portsmouth played particularly badly - they just didn't have enough. John Mousinho consoles Callum Lang at the end because he knows what a good chance that is. Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Boos ring around areas of Fratton Park but the loud cheers from the Sheffield Wednesday end drown them out after an excellent comeback. Connor Ogilvie gave Portsmouth hope of their first win in the Championship since April 2012 when he rifled home from close-range on the stroke of half-time. But Michael Smith turned the game on its head, nodding a header across goal to set up Josh Windass for the equaliser before curling in a sumptuous winner from 25 yards. Pompey remain rock-bottom with the worst defensive record in the league by some distance, while the Owls climb seven places from 18th to 11th. A huge result for Danny Rohl's side and Portsmouth's winless streak at home continues. Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed That was the chance for Portsmouth and it's Callum Lang who misses it! Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Portsmouth work it forward to the edge of the box before Connor Ogilvie hits in a cross towards Callum Lang but the move breaks down. Wednesday clear but here come Pompey again. .. Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Time is ticking for Portsmouth now who will end the weekend bottom of the Championship regardless of what happens elsewhere if they can't muster a late leveller. It's all gone a bit flat for the hosts in this second-half who aren't exactly throwing the kitchen sink at it yet. .. Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Yan Valery is booked for Sheffield Wednesday for pulling back Connor Ogilvie. The free-kick is in a decent position on the left but Pompey can't make the most of it as James Beadle comes out to claim. Portsmouth 1-2 Sheff Wed Wednesday defender Liam Palmer has picked himself up a yellow card for time-wasting. The ball goes out for a throw on halfway and Palmer stands five yards away instead of going over to take it. Into the book he goes. Sheffield Wednesday climb into the top half of a tight Championship table Michael Smith's stunning 25-yard strike helped Sheffield Wednesday come from behind to beat the Championship's bottom side Portsmouth. Defender Connor Ogilvie gave Portsmouth the lead just before half-time when a corner kick reached the back post and the defender fired in. But the visitors started the second half brightly, levelling through Josh Windass who scored his third league goal of the campaign, finishing from close range following Smith's knock-down. A sensational winner then followed as Smith hit a sweet first-time strike into the top right corner to turn the game around against his former club. Last season's League One champions Portsmouth are still yet to win at home in the second tier this season, now failing to win in six league games at Fratton Park. The hosts were without their captain Marlon Pack from the start for the first time in the league this season, the midfielder dropping to the bench as one of five changes made by boss John Mousinho. They started brightly, but it was Wednesday who had a huge chance to take the lead after 20 minutes. Portsmouth defender Tom Mc Intyre failed to clear the ball effectively and passed it straight to the feet of Smith who was unable to force a shot on target, his effort blocked by a defender behind for a corner. The Owls were then forced into an early change when Akin Famewo sliced a pass and waved to the bench right away, stopping play to receive some treatment and being replaced by Dominic Iorfa. Portsmouth's Callum Lang forced a decent stop from Wednesday keeper James Beadle, curling a free-kick from 30 yards that was palmed away. The hosts came inches from taking the lead when Lang had another free-kick that rebounded off the wall and looked to be trickling towards the line but Wednesday's Pol Valentin made a fine goal-line clearance to put it out for a corner. From the resulting corner kick Portsmouth struck gold as the ball worked its way to Ogilvie who powered the ball home from a narrow angle to give his side the lead. But the visitors found themselves level 10 minutes into the second half as Barry Bannan floated a pass towards Smith in the penalty area. Smith headed the ball to the feet of Windass and the striker thumped it into the back of the net from six yards. With just over 20 minutes remaining, Smith scored a screamer with his right foot to give his side the lead and send the 2, 137 away supporters into chaotic celebrations. He received the ball centrally from Yan Valery on the right and curled it past Jordan Archer for what will surely be one of the finest goals seen in the Championship this season. Portsmouth pushed for an equaliser and the ball fell to Lang six yards out in the remaining seconds, but he struck over the bar to the frustration of the home crowd, some of whom booed their side at the full-time whistle. Portsmouth boss John Mousinho told BBC Radio Solent: "I’m disappointed, especially with the nature of losing after going a goal up into half-time. "It was a contrasting performance from Tuesday night at Cardiff but ultimately we haven’t done enough to win the game and weren’t quite good enough to do it. "I’m still really upset with the fact we lost it but there was a very different message to the players in the dressing room compared to Tuesday. "That being said we still have to be a lot better. " Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It was a strong comeback after being 1-0 down. "First half we were okay but we changed things at half-time. Coming from behind at Coventry and now here shows a step forward in our development. "It's just three points, we climb the table eight places with a win but if you lose you drop down. "But for me it's more important to improve and there is still room for that.
