League One: Port Vale 0-3 Stockport County Nathan Lowe put Stockport ahead while Kyle Wootton and Jack Diamond send Stockport three goals up inside half an hour Stockport move top of the table thanks to a comfortable win and leapfrog Bradford, Stevenage and Cardiff having started the evening in fourth Hosts miss the chance to move out of the League One drop zone Kate Holloway Port Vale 0-3 Stockport Ahhhhhh, Ruari Paton comes so painfully close for Vale! He stands over the free-kick and curls it beyond the wall but instead of rippling the net, his strike meets the bar instead. It looks spectacular but the end product does not deliver. Port Vale 0-3 Stockport There are an additional six minutes to play. Plenty of time for Vale to get one back and they've got a free-kick to try their luck. Port Vale 0-3 Stockport Stockport forward Nathan Lowe puts his arm out and whacks Marvin Johnson in the face. It's forceful, enough to draw out an unpleasant nosebleed for the Vale midfielder but he only sees a caution for his violent conduct. Much to Johnson's displeasure. All the pain, no gain. Port Vale 0-3 Stockport Calvin Andrew Ex-Port Vale forward on BBC Radio Manchester Port Vale have had a spell in the last five minutes, keeping the ball with some tight passing. Devante Cole has been in some good positions. Stockport's goalkeeper and back three showed good determination to keep him out and make sure he was shooting from an acute angle. The game isn't tied up yet but Stockport are comfortable. Port Vale 0-3 Stockport Devante Cole picks up a long ball from the other side of the pitch but he's all alone and flanked by defenders, seeing the ball thud off a green shirt instead of poking through for a more favourable sight at goal. He just can't find a way into this game. Port Vale 0-3 Stockport Phil Sproson Former Port Vale captain on BBC Radio Stoke Stockport's back three are dominating the Vale's midfield. Vale have gifted Stockport a three-goal lead. Port Vale 0-3 Stockport The first corner is delivered too deep but kept alive long enough to pick up another. The second is headed out by Tyler Onyango and Port Vale are unable to keep possession, seeing it head up the other end and conceding a free-kick a few metres past the half-way line. Stockport don't do anything with it but they don't need to. They are feeling mighty comfortable right now. Port Vale 0-3 Stockport Port Vale have earned themselves a corner. Can they strike back in this first-half? Port Vale 0-3 Stockport Josh Watton BBC Radio Manchester commentator County are in dreamland. Jack Diamond slotted that in. Cool as you like. It's not a night for the Vale fans to sit in the rain and watch this. For the Stockport fans, it's the complete opposite. This could already be turning into damage limitation for Vale with half an hour gone. Jack Diamond WOW! I haven't even had time to type out that we are back in play before Stockport have scored again. Jesse Debrah slows as he tries to deal with a long ball encroaching the box but he's not aware that Jack Diamond is racing to take possession before he strikes it low into the net. Great work from Diamond, not so good awareness from Debrah. This three-goal deficit will be very difficult for the hosts to overcome. Port Vale 0-2 Stockport There's a break in play while the stewards deal with an issue in the crowd. I'm not sure what Vale boss Darren Moore is telling his men currently but I imagine he'll be trying to lift their spirits. This match is flying by and Stockport are into the groove. Port Vale 0-2 Stockport Calvin Andrew Ex-Port Vale forward on BBC Radio Manchester I said before this game that Stockport could fill their boots today. They are going more direct and playing in the final third, where they can create problems. Jack Diamond dances through. It spins for Kyle Wootton but there aren't a great number of players in white trying to block that shot or get to the ball. There are more to come if Port Vale don't change something. I would have though Dave Challinor will be telling Stockport that the game is still in the balance. For Stockport, it's about concentration levels. Port Vale won't stop banging on the door. Kyle Wootton Woo. .. Kyle Wootton doubles the lead. Jack Diamond does well to weave through the defenders but see his shot blocked. He picks up the ricochet and sets it off for Wootton. The striker swings round and fires the ball straight into the corner with killer precision. A disheartening watch for the home fans, who I imagine are feeling pretty nervous in those seats now. Port Vale 0-1 Stockport Port Vale keep possession in the final third and when it finds Ryan Croasdale on the right, he decides to pull the trigger. He spins in a cross in towards Devante Cole but the ball is travelling fairly slowly and the Valiants front man can't generate enough pace on his header to truly test the keeper. Port Vale 0-1 Stockport Nathan Lowe is feeling confident now. He turns and takes aim at goal from just outside the box but sees his shot tamely roll straight at the Vale keeper. The atmosphere inside Vale Park has changed now. The hosts will need to keep their wits about them if they don't want the momentum to swing too far out of their favour. Port Vale 0-1 Stockport Calvin Andrew Ex-Port Vale forward on BBC Radio Manchester Nathan Lowe spins from the beginning of the move into the box. It's the perfect ball in and he does the right thing, hitting the target and getting the header down low and hard. He arrives in a strange position for the Vale defence. It's fantastically taken. He made it look easy and that might be something Stockport can use - he's not quite playing as a centre-forward, he's playing a bit deeper. Nathan Lowe I eat my words. Tyler Onyango loops in an inviting ball for Nathan Lowe to rise up high and nod into the net with real venom. That's two in two for the 20-year-old. He looks like he's finally starting to purr for the Hatters. Port Vale 0-0 Stockport Port Vale are looking easily in control here. Stockport haven't really had any kind of threat despite seeing plenty of the ball. Even a ball arrowed straight across goal seems to be nowhere near Kyle Wootton. Port Vale 0-0 Stockport Calvin Andrew Ex-Port Vale forward on BBC Radio Manchester I tell you what, it should be 1-0. That's a really good chance for Ryan Croasdale. That was the clearest header you're going to get from seven yards out, running on to it. It's going to have to be a mature performance from Stockport because there are no two ways about how Port Vale are going to play - they'll be direct and ask questions of Stockport's attention span in the conditions. There will be moments when Stockport are going to be under real pressure and they're going to have to deal with that. It will need management of the positions they take up defensively. Port Vale will go for the jugular. Stockport need to watch out for Devante Cole and sharpen up in possession. Port Vale 0-0 Stockport As I speak of not much happening, the Vale have a brilliant opportunity. Marvin Johnson, making his first start for the hosts, delivers in a beautiful cross towards Ryan Croasdale but the former Stockport man's header is sent far off target. Stockport County are now on a seven-game unbeaten run in League One and have won their past four league games in a row Stockport County moved top of League One with a fourth consecutive win after a comfortable 3-0 victory at Port Vale. Nathan Lowe, Kyle Wootton and Jack Diamond all found the net in the space of 16 first-half minutes to ensure County climbed from fourth place to sit two points clear at the summit. Defeat for Vale, meanwhile, leaves them in the relegation zone two points from safety. The visitors opened the scoring in the 13th minute, with Stoke loan striker Lowe nodding home from Tyler Onyango's cross for his second goal in as many games. Wootton's precise finish from the edge of the box doubled the Hatters' advantage 10 minutes later and took his league goal tally for the season to six. And things got even better for Dave Challinor's side shortly before the half-hour mark as Diamond muscled Jesse Debrah off the ball in the penalty area before calmly slotting past Joe Gauci. Ruari Paton's long-range free-kick clipped the crossbar just before half-time in a rare attack for the hosts. Stockport nearly added a fourth goal when Lowe, who was lucky to only receive a yellow card for an elbow on Marvin Johnson late in the opening period, struck a post in the second period.
