Just days after the most recent window has come to an end, there are now ongoing discussions at altering both the windows in England - which will be put to all 20 clubs. According to The Telegraph, league chiefs are, firstly, looking to reduce the winter window to just two weeks. The outlet claim that the suggestion is an aim to minimise disruption to managers and their squads once the games begin. Meanwhile, league chiefs are also considering ending the summer transfer window before the beginning of the league season.   The summer window, back in 2018 and 2019, closed prior to the season starting however that was swiftly change in accordance with other European leagues. Club owners will now decide whether the proposal should go to a vote.   Premier League clubs spent in excess of £2billion across the two transfer windows of the 2024-25 season, with a surprise side revealed as the biggest overall spender.   In recent years, the wealth of the English top flight has grown at a faster rate than leagues across the world, giving Premier League clubs considerable might in the transfer market.   Lavish spending is no longer just the preserve of 'Big 6' clubs, instead the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham are very capable of pulling off several big signings a season.   There is no better example of this point than the top spending club of the 2024-25 campaign: Brighton. The Seagulls have spent £231. 4m, according to figures from football finance expert Kieran Maguire, on 25 arrivals across the two windows.   Brighton backed new boss Fabian Hurzeler in the summer and brought in a host of fresh faces including Georginio Rutter, Yankuba Minteh and Matt O'Reilly.
