"Players go to their national team and they think of the national team, but for me if I lose it is three to four days of being unhappy. I think my wife will be happy as she will have someone home who is happy. "Really satisfied with how we started the season. It is a good start not only the results, but I liked our performance today. "There was a period of the game we conceded free-kicks and that was a difficult period. For the last 10 minutes we kept the ball very well. " On Crystal Palace's possible penalty call: "The ball is going to the goalkeeper. If he [referee] had given this one then VAR wouldn't have changed it. It is not a penalty for me as he [Guehi] wouldn't ever get the ball. " On the fixture list after the international break: "The fixtures are difficult, but I have felt how difficult Wolves and Palace are away. It is good that we have won these games and it is up to us to show ourselves in the big games. "Unfortunately Alisson will not be with us in these matches with how he walked off the pitch. " On Vítezslav Jaros debut: "Really good. He had a good season and he won the league and cup with the team [Sturm Graz] in Austria [last season]. "He wanted to go [back this season] and have playing time. We said at a club like this we need a good third goalkeeper as well. "It was a nice moment for him to make his debut for Liverpool. " Leicester v Bournemouth (15: 00 BST) They know how to whip up an atmosphere at the King Power. Flames shoot into the air and flags are being waved by the home fans as the music is turned up to full volume. Steve Cooper has just emerged from the tunnel. Kick-off is fast approaching. Man City v Fulham (15: 00 BST) Pep Guardiola wants Manchester City's first matches of next season to be postponed - but fears the Premier League are not interested in helping ease the burden on their players. Guardiola said City had asked for the delay because of the club's involvement with the Club World Cup, but said the Premier League would not accept the request. The final of the 32-team event is set for 13 July at the Met Life Stadium in New Jersey, creating a gap of either four or five weeks to the start of the 2025-26 Premier League season. Three of those weeks will be mandatory rest periods for the players. "The Premier League has not allowed us to postpone the first two games for our recovery, " said Guardiola. "Thank you so much. "I think the club asked the league to postpone one or two or three weeks so we can have a holiday after the [Club] World Cup but it is absolutely not allowed. The Premier League say yes to us? No. Absolutely not. " West Ham v Ipswich (15: 00 BST) Rob Green Former England goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live I think it is a huge game at the London Stadium and it's just how the team start. That game after 20 minutes you will see which way the stadium is going and the fans are going. It's the biggest game of the weekend for me. I have played in front of those fans and against lesser opposition and been booed after winning. Arsenal v Southampton (15: 00 BST) Southampton Southampton are due a win. The Saints are without a victory in 19 league matches (D5, L14), one shy of their longest winless run in the top flight, and that record was set way back in 1969. Southampton have also failed to win any of their 24 Premier League matches away to Arsenal (D8, L16). It's the most one side has visited another without a victory in the competition’s history. West Ham v Ipswich Town (15: 00 BST) Michael Emons BBC Sport at London Stadium Will Julen Lopetegui have tough questions to answer after the match later on? Three top-10 Premier League finishes and guiding West Ham to
the Europa Conference League, winning the club their first piece of silverware
since 1980 and their first European trophy since 1965 was not enough to earn
David Moyes a new contract. His replacement was always going to have to deal with rising
expectations and three successive home league defeats, along with a 5-1 thrashing at
Liverpool to go out of the Carabao Cup, has seen a tough start to life in east
London for Julen Lopetegui. But, as he can rightly say, those home losses have been
against Aston Villa, Manchester City and Chelsea, games even the most
optimistic of Hammer would expect to be difficult. However, a home match against a newly-promoted side that
have not won a top-flight game since April 2002 is one the West Ham fans will
be demanding three points from. If the Hammers lose at home to Ipswich Town then
Lopetegui would find himself under huge pressure, while a win would leave them
comfortably in mid table and with something to build on. Kieran Mc Kenna's Ipswich have drawn four games in a row after starting off their top-flight return with losses to Liverpool and Manchester City to sit 15th, one place below the Hammers. Will today be the day Town get their first win of the season? Arsenal v Southampton (15: 00 BST) Chris Wise BBC Radio 5 Live reporter at Emirates Stadium Aaron Ramsdale’s return to Arsenal was always going to cause some interest, and you get the sense he’s going to be busy in the Saints goal today. Set-pieces have shaped games for both of these teams this season. It’s been one of Arsenal’s big weapons, and one of Southampton’s frailties. Brentford v Wolves (15: 00 BST) Nizaar Kinsella BBC Sport football news reporter at Gtech Community Stadium This Brentford versus Wolves match takes place under unseasonably warm sun and blue skies but questions will be asked of Gary O'Neil should his side lose before the international break. The West Midlands club are bottom of the Premier League, losing five and drawing one of their first six games. They are, therefore, vulnerable to criticism as Brentford have been able to win twice and draw once despite defeats when facing Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham. Their record is all the more impressive given injuries to strikers Igor Thiago and Yoane Wissa and as they are without a recognised senior left-back as Rico Henry closes in on his return but Aaron Hickey suffers a significant set back. Leicester v Bournemouth (15: 00 BST) Bournemouth Bournemouth have won each of their last three Premier League games against Leicester. And they could do with another here as Bournemouth's next three league games after today are Arsenal (home) on 19 October, Aston Villa (away) on 26 October and Manchester City (home) on 2 November. Arsenal v Southampton (15: 00 BST) This video can not be played Aaron Ramsdale: Southampton goalkeeper talks Arsenal, David Raya and why he chose The Sain It's back to the old stomping ground for Southampton keeper Aaron Ramsdale this afternoon as the Saints take on Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. The England shot stopper enjoyed a solid spell at the Gunners but was dislodged from the number one spot when former Brentford keeper David Raya arrived at the club and Ramsdale said he had to move on as he didn't want to win trophies from the bench. Football Focus' Kelly Sommers spoke to Ramsdale about his move away from Arsenal and his competition with Raya. Benching Trossard and moving Havertz into midfield. What is Arteta thinking? Paul London Arsenal v Southampton (15: 00 BST) Dion Dublin Former England striker on Football Focus We have seen it with Burnley, Norwich, they have come up and played this beautiful brand of football and it has worked. I like Russell Martin. I think he is going to be a very good manager for a very long time but if you are in the big league, have a plan B or plan C so you have something. They have been caught so many times in their own third and it will send you down. Matt Brentford v Wolves (15: 00 BST) Wolves Wolves have one point, equalling their worst start to a season after six league games. It looks bad, although Gary O'Neil's team have had a horrible run, having already faced Arsenal, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Liverpool. After the international break they take on Manchester City. Brentford away, who are winless in their past three league matches, presents a great opportunity for some points. I loved Klopp but 100% Liverpool don’t win that game under Klopp. Grinding out results is the sign of a great team. Palace unlucky with the penalty shout too! Chris West Ham v Ipswich (15: 00 BST) Theo Walcott Former England forward on BBC Radio 5 Live I think Ipswich will fancy their chances. They are brimming with confidence and are a hard-working team. They feel really together and I would be worried if I was a West Ham fan today. West Ham v Ipswich Town (15: 00 BST) Michael Emons BBC Sport at London Stadium A quirk of the fixture schedule has seen West Ham play all
six of their league matches in the capital, and that run continues for their next
three games with Ipswich and Manchester United coming to east London with an
away game at Tottenham sandwiched in the middle. While West Ham are yet to win at London Stadium in the
league in 2024-25, they are yet to lose a league game away from there. A first home league victory for Julen Lopetegui’s side would take them to
eight points from seven matches, while a loss would leave them hovering above the relegation zone. Slaven Bilic, with four wins and a draw and 13 points in
2015-16, has the best record among West Ham’s Premier League managers in their
opening seven league matches in charge. The lowest totals are the five points Harry Redknapp, Glenn
Roeder, Avram Grant and David Moyes second time around gained. Lopetegui, who replaced Moyes in the summer, needs to
avoid defeat against Ipswich to move clear of those bosses. Man City v Fulham (15: 00 BST) Emlyn Begley BBC Sport at Etihad Stadium Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola calls Fulham counterpart a "top manager" in his programme notes today. "I enjoy so much playing against his teams because always you know you will learn something new, " the Catalan said. "This is why I love football. " And then in a sentence which well send a chill down the spine of some football fans, he adds: "Enjoy this game today and I will see you after the next international break. " Yep after this weekend it's back to Uefa Nations League action. Arsenal v Southampton (15: 00 BST) Rachel Brown-Finnis Ex-England goalkeeper on Football Focus It is great to see that goalkeeper union. The team of goalkeepers that work together on a day-to-day basis. It's great to see that honesty. How Ramsdale felt the media were stoking the fire of the debate between him, and Raya and the impact it had on him. The insight into goalkeepers, it's not personal. If you get picked ahead of me, I am not going to have the hump with you and let that ruin the dynamic and change anything in training. If I end up on the bench, I need to make sure it is still buzzing. FT: Crystal Palace 0-1 Liverpool Mark Schwarzer Former Australia keeper on BBC Radio 5 Live Results are going to have to start coming in for Crystal Palace. I think it was the performance more than anything else, they were devoid of confidence. It looked at times like there wasn't really communication going on. This one could have easily been a far higher scoreline. Last Updated 5th October 2024 at 14: 25 Please Note: All times UK. Tables are subject to change.
