The Premier League is back after a mini break, and talk SPORT is here to keep you right across all of the latest news. Bukayo Saka made a goalscoring return from injury for Arsenal last night in their 2-1 win over Fulham as he came off the bench to seal the win for Mikel Arteta's side. But Gabriel Magalhaes and Jurrien Timber limped off in that one ahead of the Gunners' Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid next week. Elsewhere, it has been confirmed that Erling Haaland is set to miss the majority of the season. Tuesday, April 1 Wednesday, April 2 Thursday, April 3 Crystal Palace are hopeful Oliver Glasner will sign a new contract despite interest from RB Leipzig, talk SPORT understands. Glasner’s current deal expires at the end of next season and talks between the Austrian and Palace owner Steve Parish are at an early stage. Ex-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, now Global Head of Soccer at Leipzig’s owners Red Bull, is known to be an admirer of Glasner. Glasner previously worked as an assistant Red Bull Salzburg before going solo and achieving huge success with Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the 2022 Europa League. He's now back in the running for another big final, having just guided Palace to the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 3-0 win over Fulham. Leipzig, meanwhile, are without a manager after Klopp's Red Bull dismissed his good friend and former player Marco Rose. Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has responded to talk of Mauricio Pochettino replacing him. The United States coach managed Spurs from 2014 to 2019 and was a runner-up in both the Premier League and Champions League. Last week he said that he'd like to return to the club one day, while a picture of him having a meal with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy fuelled speculation. Responding to the story ahead of facing Chelsea, the incumbent Postecoglou said: "Mauricio, if he wants to come back one day, I hope it happens for him. "We all have dreams and aspirations, if that’s what he wants. You’re suggesting that he’s trying to put pressure on me? " When a reporter clarified that the timing of his comments might have been disrespectful, the Australian continued: "Well, I don’t feel disrespected. "I think if you ask Mauricio that question directly, you’d get a pretty clear answer as to what his intent was. "Again, nothing from me to sort of be consumed with. I’m more focused on trying to make sure we win tomorrow night. " Asked about dealing with talk over his own future, he continued: "I don't deal with it mate. I know what my responsibilities are. "I'm sure if the club decides to go in a different direction there's some outstanding candidates out there for it. And you know what, maybe someone will think, 'Ah Ange Postecoglou's not a bad coach, maybe we'll take a punt on him'. "It doesn't rock my world. It doesn't consume me. I'm here, I'm passionate about what we're doing. "I was brought in to change the way the club plays, rejuvenate the squad, bring success, I'm focussed on that. That's what I'll keep doing. " Pictures have been released of Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti in court over allegations of tax evasion. The 65-year-old attended with his son and assistant coach Davide and rejected the prosecutor's office deal of four years and nine months in prison. Marca quote him as saying: "When Real Madrid proposed this to me—referring to the transfer of image rights— I contacted my English advisor and never went into the matter because everything seemed correct to me. "I didn't think it could be fraud, although if I'm here, I believe things weren't so correct. " The court appearance comes just six days before Madrid take on Arsenal in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final tie. Full details of Ancelotti's case have been covered by talk SPORT. Enzo Maresca didn't directly answer a question about Jadon Sancho, instead insisting he loves all of his Chelsea players. The Blues boss was asked about the England winger, given there's speculation about the club returning him to Manchester United. Sancho moved to Stamford Bridge last summer on a season-long loan with a £25million obligation to buy. However, with his impact dwindling, talk SPORT understands that Chelsea could return the player, although it would cost them £5m. Asked about Sancho's future before facing Tottenham, Maresca said: "All the players that are with us, I love all of them. "In this moment it's the moment to finish well and then it's not the moment to think about next season. "I'm completely focused about nine games, two months to go, I'm completely focused about that. "Then what happens in summer, we'll see. But all the ones that are here, I want them happy to be here. " Luis Suarez has revealed he hired a psychologist in 2014 after his bite on Giorgio Chiellini. The current Inter Miami striker sunk his teeth onto the Italy defender at the World Cup in one of a number of unsavoury moments during his career. It was in fact the third time Suarez had bitten an opponent, and it was understood that Liverpool decided to give up on keeping him after the incident, agreeing a deal with Barcelona. Speaking in an interview with You Tuber Davoo Xeneize, Suarez briefly talked about the moment and why he hasn't done it since. "I had to change my image from 2014, so I hired a psychologist to help me, " he said. "I relied on the psychologist who helped me better appreciate things and why they happen. " talk SPORT host Danny Murphy isn't giving Arsenal much hope against Real Madrid due to their injury situation. Mikel Arteta's side face the record Champions League winners in a two-legged quarter final tie on April 8 and 16. Arsenal received a boost last night with Bukayo Saka scoring on his return, but there was bad news with key defenders Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes picking up injuries. Giving his views on how those blows impact the tie, Murphy said: "Arsenal's strength is how good they are defensively. "They've got talent in forward areas, of course they have, but against Madrid you've got to be defensively brilliant, you only need moments and they've got world beaters. "You're going to have to be 100 per cent, and if you've got no Timber, who I think has been one of Arsenal's best players, a brilliant footballer, and Gabriel missing, no chance. " On Gabriel specifically, the former midfielder added: "He's hugely important. "Brilliant on set plays, great partnership with [William] Saliba, aggressive, pace. "It wouldn't be as bad if [Riccardo] Calafiori was fit but he's injured as well at the moment as well, he could've come in and played on the left, Ben White wasn't even on the bench last night. "If Gabriel and Timber aren't playing against Madrid, I don't give them a chance. " Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that £53million midfielder Romeo Lavia's injury woes are set to continue. The Belgian made a brief return to action in March, but Maresca issued a disappointing update before facing Tottenham on Wednesday. "He was doing better in terms of progress but unfortunately one or two days ago he had a small problem, so we will see in the next hours, " the coach said. Lavia has played 13 games this season out of a possible 43. In 2023/24, his first campaign since a big money move from Southampton, he featured just once, for 32 minutes. Responding to the news, one fan wrote on Twitter/X: "You can't be serious, " while another added: "This club is cursed. " Maresca also discussed Reece James' fitness, adding: "We still need to manage Reece. "The reason why is because you know his history probably better than me. You need to be careful with him in this moment. "We want him fit until the end so we will manage him until the end and then we will see in the future. " Despite losing Jurrien Timber and Gabriel Magalhaes to injury, Mikel Arteta was keen to focus on the positives of a 2-1 Arsenal win over Fulham. The Gunners cut the gap on an out-of-sorts Liverpool to nine points at the top with victory at the Emirates. After Mikel Merino's opener, Bukayo Saka scored what turned out to be the matchwinner in his first game since December. Speaking after the game, Arteta said: "[It was] a beautiful moment to see how much our people love, admire and respect Bukayo. It's not a surprise to any of us. "The best example is his reaction. Immediately after scoring what does he do? He goes and says thank you for all the hard work all the sports science guys and physios have done for him. "He lifted the stadium, the energy. It's great to have him back. "He was very positive (after the match). The first one (back) is always the one, 'how am I going to feel? ' He dealt with it really well. " Former Liverpool great Didi Hamann has encouraged Bayern Munich to make a move for impending free agent Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian's contract expires on June 30th, and in his most recent comments about the situation, the Reds' top scorer said he was 'more out than in'. Hamann was asked who he'd like to see his old side Bayern sign during the summer, and replied: "Salah in Munich would be very exciting. "Bayern have Kingsley Coman, who hasn't been their best lately. Leroy Sané will probably leave the club; their most impressive player was Michael Olise, who signed last summer. I think they need two or three players for next season. "Just like the signing of Harry Kane, it would be very exciting to see Salah at Bayern, but it would also be very interesting for the Bundesliga to have a player like Salah. Even if it's only for a year or two, I would love to see it. " Hamann also commented on fellow Liverpool free agent Virgil van Dijk, adding: "There aren't many teams he wouldn't improve. "The longer he waits for his contract, the more offers he'll receive. Five or six clubs are already knocking on his door. " © 2025 talk SPORT Limited
