By CRAIG HOPE, CHIEF FOOTBALL REPORTER and KIERAN GILL, MAIL SPORT REPORTER and LUKE POWER, SPORTS REPORTER Updated: 03: 59 AEDT, 26 October 2025 220 View comments Re-live Daily Mail Sport's live blog for the score, team news and updates as Newcastle vs Fulham and Chelsea vs Sunderland played in the Premier League, with Craig Hope and Kieran Gill reporting from the grounds. By Luke Power Great question! Well, we've currently got our Manchester United vs Brighton live blog, where Harry Bamforth is providing coverage. Matheus Cunha has just bagged his first United goal in some style there. Chelsea fans you may enjoy our recent read on your academy. Newcastle supporters, this one may be for you, taking a look at the plans from your new CEO. Have a good weekend all and thanks for joining us here. By Luke Power Will Osula (left) was a handful when he came on for Newcastle today. It wasn't Nick Woltemade's best day at the office but the 22-year-old brought a fresh injection of energy and anarchy. There wasa moment where he could have scored a header, but the cross whipped in by Anthony Elanga was a bit too high. The perfect response to that was to set up Bruno Guimaraes for his winner. About time he gets more minutes? By Luke Power Enzo Maresca is tkaing quite a bit of stick online for subbing off Josh Aceampong. The 19-year-old had a solid, though not flawless, day at centre-back. He's making a name for himself in this Chelsea team and is a regular starter now. How important do you think he is becoming, Blues fans? By Luke Power Just when you thought the Blues were building some momentum, with four consecutive wins in all competitions. We know how trigger-happy Chelsea can be with their coaches. We haven't heard any suggestons of Enzo Maresca being under immediate pressure, and he has credit in the bank after a successful first season and long sumemr, but you get the feeling they might get itchy feet if they're seventh at a later point in the season. There's every chance they'll slip a couple of places, too. Somehow, thy could end the weekend behind Manchester United. On Wednesday they go to Wolves in the Carabao Cup, then it's Tottenham away in the league on Saturday. A big, busy week ahead. By Luke Power Fulham have now lost four on the bounce. With enough of a goal difference swing they could end the weekend in the relegation zone. Are they switching off in the second half? In all of their last four games, they were at least equal at half-time. But they collapsed shortly after the break against Aston Villa, conceded not long into the half against Arsenal, capitulated late on against Bournemouth, and now this. Worrying times for a team who didn't invest much over the summer. I wonder if a few teams were banking on the newly promoted clubs being worse than they are. By Luke Power It's a cruel world sometimes. In another world, Alejandro Garnacho might have scored the winner for Chelsea today. But in truth the Blues let the game be too open. Garnacho grabbed the early opener, but they let the visitors had 10 shots, and Regis Le Bris' men were clinical enough to take their chances. Chelsea landed just one of their 15. Sunderland are only the second away side to win at Stamford Bridge this year. By Luke Power Chemesdine wants to stay grounded, but he can't stay too calm after a moment like that. He said: 'I'm feeling great. We knew with Chelsea we wouldn't have too many occasions to score. 'We are Sunderland, we have a great team with great players. We can do the job and we showed it today. 'We will not talk too soon, but I think we are going to do a great season. ' By Luke Power Let's not forget Bruno Guimaraes in all this, who has just made a lot of people very happy at the other end of the country. Newcastle are up to 11th now. He said: 'I feel unbelievable. We were very tired from Wednesday's game and I think we had to learn how to finish the game. 'I'm happy in the end we scored a goal. The last few games we have been punished at the end - by Arsenal, Liverpool. 'Will Osula, he came, he shot and I was ready for the rebound in my 150th start for this club. Now I just want to rest for a bit because I am very tired. 'My whole family is here, my mum, my kids, my wife so to score a goal like that is very special at the Gallowgate End. It is a very good moment. 'We cannot play the perfect game every time but we need to find the three points and we did this today. Very pleased for everyone. This is the Newcastle I know, we fight until the end. ' By Luke Power For some of you, this may be the first you've heard of Chemesdine Talbi. The Moroccon joined Sunderland from Club Brugge as a fairly unknown quantity over the summer. He was relegated to the bench for the last couple of games, but what a way to make Regis Le Bris sit up and take notice again. By Luke Power I still don't know how to process this. Sunderland are second in the Premier League. I'm not even a fan. The Premier League keeps on giving. It is shaping up to be a thrilling season. So many tipped them to go straight back down. They didn't even look like coming up in the first place last season. And then. . this. A bunch of new players have come together and are making something truly special. By Luke Power Sunderland go second! A truly remarkable first goal for Talbi. We've said how important it is for Sunderland to make the Stadium of Light a fortress. Now, with their second away with of the season, they're doing damage on the road too. Sunderland fans are in dreamland. By Luke Power By Luke Power Huge credit to Brian Brobbey, who got on the end of a long ball from Lutsharel Geertruida and held it up long enough before setting up Talbi. Regis Le Bris' daring subs have paid off big time. By Luke Power There was a VAR check for an offside for Sunderland's goal but it stands. No bail-out for Chelsea. Wow. By Luke Power What! Sunderland have won it. .. have they? ! Talbi finds the far corner first-time! Ridiculous scenes in the away end! After 93 minutes! By Luke Power No pressure, Jonah Kusi-Asare. He's on for his Premier League debut in place of Alex Iwobi, while TImothy Castagne replaces Kenny Tete. By Luke Power We'er a couple of minutes into stoppage time at Stamford Bridge with four to go. Can anybody find a winner? Bruno has surely won it for the hosts! It's brilliant from Will Osula to drive at Fulham and his shot is parried into path of Bruno to score. Osula's name deservedly ringing out around St James' Park now. Smart sub by Howe replacing Woltemade with his pace and directness. Credit to Elanga for part in winning ball in build-up. Newcastle had gone close not long before via Sandro Tonali, who produced a brilliant save from Bernd Leno, but Newcastle have finally got their reward. By Luke Power Knock on the door enough times and you score! Bruno Guimaraes has made St James' Park erupt! Newcastle are much improved in the last 10 minutes or so. Look most likely winners now. A couple of good chances for Anthony Elanga and Joelinton. By Luke Power Either side could win this. Granit Xhaka has had people singing his name, but maybe a few groans there when he shot rather than squaring to substitute Chemsdine Talbi, who would have had a much clearer shot on goal. LUKE POWER: Both sides are going for it here. Chelsea have thrown on Jamie Gittens for Marc Guiu, while Josh Acheampong is off for Tosin Adarabioyo. He had a brilliant slide tackle on Wilson Isidor before to stop him breaking free, amending for the error of playing people onside before. As for Sunderland, it's not one attacking change for them, it's two! Chris Rigg and Brian Brobbey are on for Enzo Le Fee and Isidor. This is when Newcastle need Nick Woltemade to be a presence in the penalty area. No shots on target from the hosts so far in the second half. Could go either way and feels like there's a winner in it. By Luke Power It has a reputation for being a bit watered down compared to the past, but I've got to say, I'm really enjoying today's edition of Soccer Saturday. Simon Thomas really fills the shoes of Jeff Stelling well, with nuggets of knowledge about the most obscure teams and names. And Paul Merson brings a fun energy. By Luke Power Well, Enzo Le Fee got his slide tackle messed up that time. After his flourish of a tackle before, this one fails. He goes in hard on Trevoh Chalobah and ends up on Andy Madley's naughty list. By Luke Power Both teams have had chances to pull ahead in recent minute. Newcastle will feel the more aggrieved. Bruno Guimaraes had a clea opportunity to head home unchallenged but somehow bopped the ball over, much to the bewilderment of his would-be assister Anthony Gordon. Then, at the other end, Raul Jimenez tried to pull off a remarkable bicycle kick but it ended up an easy save for Nick Pope. By Luke Power Estevao Willian has only been on a matter of minutes but he could have restored Chelsea's lead there after replacing Garnacho. Chelsea counter-attack but his shot is blocked and deflects wide. One of my favourite players to watch at the moment. Fulham are level, and it's been coming since before half-time. Kevin cross, Jimenez rattles bar & Lukic beats Botman to rebound to head in. Newcastle's midfield are offering no resistance or control here. The visitors are the more likely winners as it stands. By Luke Power Fulham are in business thanks to Sasa Lukic! Jimenez had nutted th ball against the bar from a cross by Kevin, but Lukic was there to sweep up for his second goal in 85 games for Fuham! He didn't score at all last season! By Luke Power Revenge from Chalobah! The Chelsea man had the ball hooked away from him by a rather dramatic slide tackle by Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fee. Then the Chelsea man man hit back with a foul. By Luke Power Ryan Sessegnon will be practicing his crossing next week after that. Not sure if it was a cross, actually. Somehow he spooned it high into the stands. Hard to tell what he was trying to do. It happens to the best of us. I'd know. By Luke Power TIm Sherwood has hit out at Marco Silva for hauling off Emile Smith Rowe and replacing him with Kevin at half-time. He wonders how the former Arsenal man is supposed to build momentum when he is only getting snippets of action. 'He didn't get a hat-trick so he gets brought off! Tough for him, ' Sherwood told Sky Sports. By Luke Power We're back underway around the grounds now - Newcastle and Fulham got going a bit before Chelsea and Sunderland due to that delay. By Luke Power KIERAN GILL AT STAMFORD BRIDGE: Sunderland were late to emerge for the start of the second half, forcing Chelsea's players to wait for them to restart the match. Big 45 coming up. The supporters here expect a win. By Luke Power Well worth a a gander, this, from our dedicated Chelsea reporter Kieran Gill. By Luke Power Credit to Pedro Neto for his assist for Garnacho. It was a lovely pass through the heart of the park, setting the winger up to drive towards goal and finish past Robin Roefs from a tight angle. This picture isn't him celebrating, mind. Just him having a moan after a decision didn't go his way. We'll let him off. A deserved lead (when it arrived, brilliantly from Murphy) but Newcastle have come off it since. Vibes of last season's fixture (which Fulham went on to win). Fulham's best creator has been errant home passes. Newcastle are very sloppy in midfield are not controlling the game at all. In fact, they've only had 44 per cent of the ball. By Luke Power Well, that's that for the first halves of 3pm Premier League action. Chelsea 1-1 Sunderland Newcastle 1-0 Fulham Exciting games so far - and we could have had more goals! When Chelsea have the ball, Sunderland's formation is basically 5-5-0. Enzo Maresca's side are really struggling to force an opening. By Luke Power Ah, Murphy. He could have doubled Toon's lead there and probably should have. It would a lovely ball round the corner from Gordon, but Leno was out quickly and stood up well. Maybe Murphy could have tried to take it round him? By Luke Power Not that we expected much else, but it has been pretty end-to-end this season. Of course Sunderland are up for a fight. It's a lively game and both sides have had their chances. Chelsea are up to five shots, but Sunderland have had six - even if they've only had 38 per cent of the ball. Newcastle have become sloppy after very strong start. A few guilty of gifting Fulham possession. Feels like a visiting goal might come from it if it continues. Dan Burn has just been involved in a rather amusing exchange with Fulham boss Marco Silva. As Raul Jimenez refused to give up the ball for a Newcastle throw-in, Burn ran around Silva to get to Jimenez, shouting, "F*** me, man". Once he had the ball, he offered a polite, "Sorry Marco", which certainly ticked Silva. By Luke Power Almost Isidor again! Granit Xhaka has been a revelation this season and he found the Frenchman with a seam-splitting pass. Isidor works room for a shot from a tight angle but it flies wide. By Luke Power How does it feel scoring against the odds at the Bridge? Like this! What a signing, by the way. He was critical for them in their promotion campaign last year, having arrived as a relative unknown from Zenit Saint Petersburg, and he has four goals this season already. By Luke Power Marco Sivla and his coaching staff cut frustrated figures on the touchline after Newcastle's goal, banging on the roof of the dugout as they watched events unfold. Not a nice moment for Bassey but he will move on from this. Chelsea knew Sunderland love a long throw. Enzo Maresca can't say he wasn't warned – we asked him several questions on it at his press conference yesterday. Welp, Sunderland got their first chance to launch one into the box, and they scored from it. Bad defending from Chelsea. By Luke Power Well, Sunderland are right back in it! Wilson Isidor has got them level. It's a volley in the box after it bounced out from a long throw, and it looked like a couple of bodies might have been offside as it moved through the pack - but Josh Acheampong was playing them all on. By Luke Power Here's a decent stat for you: Chelsea have more scorers than anyone in the league this season besides Arsenal. Garnacho is their 10th different man to find the net (the Gunners also have 10). If Jacob Murphy can't make goals for Alexander Isak then he'll make them for himself! Brilliant individual work to block Bassey clearance and then run clear to score. By Luke Power Dear oh dear, Calvin Bassey won't want to watch that back - but Jacob Murphy will. He dispossesses the defender in Fulham's half, dribbles quite a long way, and unleashes his shot to beat Bernd Leno. His first goal since April, and what a way to score it. By Luke Power Raul Jimenez should have done better there! The Fulham forward was fairly central, midway through the box, but flopped his chance under pressure from Botman. Still, Marco Silva will be uplifted by that. His Fulham side are shwoing their fangs a bit. By Luke Power Hm, I wonder where we recognise that celebration from. Ah - not worth mentioning! Garnacho basks in his glroy, but can he repeat it on a regular basis? That's the task for him. Encouraging signs at Chelsea so far. By Luke Power Mewcastle have made a positive start at home. Woltemade has already gone close, and Anthony Gordon nearly got his foot on the end of a Jacob Murphy cross but couldn't quite get his boot on it. Last weekend, Alejandro Garnacho was hooked at half-time versus Nottingham Forest. Enzo Maresca showed faith by starting him again here, and he's scored the opener, showing his pace to get beyond Nordi Mukiele before beating Robin Roefs for 1-0. I've been saying for a while that Nick Woltemade (five shots on target, five goals) needs to start getting more chances to miss. .. Well, he's just hit the post from six yards out after the ball dropped from a free-kick. I'm sure he would have preferred to score. By Luke Power That's one way to endear yourself to fans! Alejandro Garnacho has given Chelsea a rapid lead at Stamford Bridge to send them projected second in the table and dampen the mood among the travelling upstarts. His first Premier League goal for the Blues. By Luke Power Woltemade has just hit the post! He toe-pokes an effort off the woodwork from point-blank range after Newcastle sent in a free-kick and there was a scramble in the area. By Luke Power We're a couple of minutes into the action at both grounds and Sunderland are off to a quick start, already forcing Sanchez into a save. By Luke Power Eddie Howe was asked by Sky Sports if he thinks it's fair to say Anthony Gordon's form domestically is worse than in Europe. He scored two against Benfica in midweek, playing terrifcally. 'It's difficult, ' Howe said. 'The competitions are different. 'He's played well in the Champions League and we want to help him produce that every week. That's easier said that done. 'But it's on everyone to contribute. ' Four goals in three games in the Champions League for Gordon, but none in the Premier League yet. But he's not the only one struggling and that's why Newcastle are 15th. By Luke Power At least the fans at St James' Park have a little bit of sun to bask in, unlike the unlucky faithful at Stamford Bridge, which is looking rather moody. By Luke Power Good news, Chelsea fans. Your hero Frank Lampard has just won another game in chareg of Coventry - 3-1 against Watford. They're top of the Championship with eight wins, four draws, and, check this, zero losses. Oh, and a ridiculous goal difference of 25 from 12 games. Methinks we may see him back in the top flight next season. By Luke Power Enzo Maresca has told Sky Sports that he does not have split teams for the Premier League and Europe, unlike last season. 'No, absolutely not. It depends on the game plan, ' he said. Marc Guiu spent 26 days on loan at Sunderland before being recalled by Chelsea earlier this season. Imagine if he scores and doesn't celebrate. By Luke Power Congratulations are in order for Alex Iwobi, who makes his 300th Premier League appearance today. He's 29! That has absolutely flown by. He made his Arsenal debut back in October 2015 - a shocking day when the Gunners lost 3-0 to Sheffield Wednesday in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup. That probably wasn't the most fun debut to have - Iwob started it - but he has gone on to build a solid career since. T'is tipping down at Stamford Bridge. Sunderland must have brought the sideways rain with them from the North East. Marc Guiu has been handed his first Premier League start for Chelsea, against the side he started this season on loan with. The 19-year-old has impressed of late and shown patience. Meanwhile, Sunderland have switched to a back five, for the first time this season from what I hear. By Luke Power Quite a bold shout from former England goalkeeper Rob Green here on the BBC. 'Fulham have reached a point where they need to win a cup to make this season and Marco Silva's time in charge a success. 'How they go about winning a cup? I'm not too sure. They've only picked up one win this season away from home, so obviously they need to find an answer in that area. 'Injuries are crippling them at the minute though and they have a tough run of games coming up. ' Do they need to win a cup? That's a high expectation, obviously inflated by what Crystal Palace and Newcastle did last season. But I know what Green is getting at. How long will Fulham accept mid-table respectability? Silva has done a great job at getting them settled in the Premier League, but they're not kicking on this season so far. By Luke Power As always, our chief football reporter Craig Hope brings you an unmissable read on the inner workings of Newcastle. As Craig reveals, new CEO David Hopkinson is carrying out a 100-day review of the club which will shape its future. 'Insiders, enthused by the Canadian’s forthright leadership, say he has brought a fresh sense of focus - and just enough fear - to bolt anyone who was on their backside up onto their toes. "You’re either with us, or with yourself" is said to be his mantra. ' Read more below. By Luke Power Newcastle have got the first thing right today: turning up. By Luke Power Here's something you don't hear too often - Sunderland can go second in the Premier League. So too can Chelsea. It's a huge chance to steal a march on the sides around them and put pressure on their games over the rest of the weekend. Tim Sherwood just told Sky Sports that he feels Sunderland are already effectively safe, while Paul Merson thinks they only need six mroe wins to practically guarantee it. By Luke Power Today is a strange day for Guiu, the 19-year-old Spanish youngster. He was sent on loan to Sunderland in the summer - only to be recalled just before the transfer window shut after Nicolas Jackson went on loan to Bayern Munich and Delap got his injury. Most of his time at Chelsea has seen him limited to appearances off the bench or Conference League action. Now is his moment in the big time from the start. By Luke Power Players will take the knee before kick-off as part of the No Room for Racism initiative. Last week, Dominic Calvert-Lewin refused to do it while some Leeds and Burnley fans booed the action. By Luke Power I'm not sure why, but we've been treated to a wedge of atmospheric pictures from around Newcastle, so do enjoy. By Luke Power Enzo Maresca is back on the touchline today after serving his ban for his Mourinho-esque celebrations against Liverpool. Personally, I think football has gone way too serious. That was a great moment for Estevao Willian. Why not let the manager celebrate it like a player? They've got to live a little and have an outlet from all the pressure. Anyway, here are some of the arrivals. By Luke Power Last but not least, Fulham have told the world their XI as obliged. Marco Silva has chopped quite a bit on the back of their 1-0 loss to Arsenal, with Tete, Diop, Bassey, Lukic, Traore, Smith Rowe the six men coming in. By Luke Power Eddie Howe must have liked what he saw in midweek against Benfica because it's just the one change from him, too, as Joelinton comes in for Ramsey. By Luke Power Just the one change for Sunderland from their 2-0 win over Wolves as Geertruida steps in for Alderete for his first Premier League start. By Luke Power Chelsea have announced their XI and it's eight changes for them from the youthful XI which thrashed Ajax 5-1 in midweek - only Moises Caicedo, Anezo Fernandez, and Marc Guiu survive. This is a big shot for Guiu - his first Premier League start of the season. By Luke Power Alright, alright, we're a couple of days late to this, but I hope Jimmy Bullard had a great 47th birthday. How Fulham could do with a player like him at the moment. Scored some whopping goals. He might be my favourite interviewee I've ever had. Definitely up there. A very charismatic and pleasant chap, just as you see on the TV. I'll drop that read below if you're interested. By Luke Power Having Sandro Tonali in the middle of the park is a big difference-maker for the Magpies. His composure, range of passing, and ability to carry the ball - as well as chip in defensively - make him a key component of the team, and that's why they recently tied him down until 2029. He has started every game this season and only come off in two of them. But he could sit this one out, as Howe explained: 'I think everyone came through the game okay. Sandro is still the player we are monitoring;  he did train but wasn’t feeling 100%, he will be touch and go. ' By Luke Power Newcastle's form against Fulham last season makes for bleak reading: a 3-1 loss away and a 2-1 defeat at home, courtesy of a late goal. So first of all there's that mental block to overcome, but then Eddie Howe also pointed out that coming back from a Champions League high can be a challenge. They've taken four points from their two games directly following European assignments this season, so it doesn't seem like a huge issue so far. Howe said: 'We know the qualities of their team and this will be a difficult game for us. 'When you go from the high emotion of the Champions League back to the afternoon kick-offs in the Premier League, it is a big mental challenge. 'We have to rise to that and grow from the experiences we've had previously. ' By Luke Power Are Sunderland fans dreaming of. .. Europe? Surely it's too early, but the way Regis Le Bris has this concoction of new and old playing, you wouldn't put much past them. The Wearsiders are seventh with 14 points after eight games. Only six newly promoted teams in Premier League history have had a better start - and none since Wolves seven years ago. Wolves kicked on and made something special for a while under Nuno Espirito Santo. Could Sunderland? By Luke Power Enzo Maresca confirmed yesterday that the team don't have any new injuries. He also provided a brief update on Liam Delap, who got injured in August. Maresca said: 'Liam took part in the session yesterday with the team for the first time, so he's not going to be available for tomorrow game, but probably for the next match [against Wolves in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday]. ' By Luke Power Last time Chelsea and Sunderland met, the Blues lifted the Premier League trophy and the Black Cats finished bottom of the table. Antonio Conte's side had already been confirmed as champions, and the day was partially a farewell to John Terry. Willian, Eden Hazard, Pedro, and Michy Batshuayi (2) scored that day for a 5-1 win and you felt it could be the start of something. Amazingly, they haven't won the Premier League since. By Luke Power Fulham's travels haven't treated them kindly this campaign - one draw and three defeats on the spin, with nine goals conceded. Marco Silva's side could well be looking over their shoulders if they on't have a good run before the next international break. If we're expecting Nottingham Forest and West Ham to have a bounce under their new bosses, that gap to the bottom three could tighten. And it only stands at three points as we speak. By Luke Power I think the fact that Newcastle are 15th has gone under the radar a bit. This start to the season has been poor, in the league at least. Of course, the disruption from the Alexander Isak saga didn't help, but they've recruited well. They beat Jose Mourinho's Benfica 3-0 in midweek, featuring an epic throw from Nick Pope, and Eddie Howe will hope that has them in the mood for more goalscoring. By Luke Power Sunderland have completed their journey down to London well in advance. Google tells me that the distance between the Stadium of Light and Stamford Bridge is a mere 287. 4 miles. I think I'd need a two-hour buffer just to stretch my legs after that journey. By Luke Power Chelsea's preparation for today's action has been less than ideal because they were forced to evacuate their training ground on Friday amid fears of a chlorine leak. Ah, chlorine. Takes me back to the days of splashing round in swimming pools on holiday and getting that nasty taste in your mouth. Good idea evacuating, I'd say. You can read more about that disruption below. By Luke Power Hello and welcome to Daily Mail Sport's live blog of today's 3pm Premier League action. Just the two games for us behind the blackout this afternoon - Chelsea vs Sunderland and Newcastle vs Fulham. I, for one, can't wait for the ride. Today, English footballs top flight has only 2 gam. ..
