Aston Villa, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion and Cardiff City have all checked on the 19-year-old in recent weeks aware he will be free in the summer. Rice became the youngest post-war league player to appear for the club, aged 16 years and 137 days, when he made his debut against Livingston in 2023. Manchester City and Brighton were among the clubs who tracked Rice when he first emerged via Motherwell's academy, but he opted to stay in Scotland and sign for Rangers.
