While most of Mikel Arteta's reinforcements have been in attacking areas, the Spaniard is keen to strengthen defensively before next week's deadline and Hincapie has been a name on Arsenal's radar for months. The Ecuador international has a release clause worth £52m but the north Londoners are exploring the possibility of striking a deal with Erik ten Hag's new club on reduced terms. Arsenal have tabled a bid worth £45m for the centre-back which they hope will be enough to secure his services. It's understood that any deal for Hincapie will determine whether Porto can proceed on Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior.
